For the best all-around picks, start with The Hidden Ones if you want a grounded continuation of Bayek’s story, The Fate of Atlantis for Greek-mythology spectacle, or Wrath of the Druids for a new historical region. The best choice depends on whether you want historical conflict, supernatural adventure, or a different setting—not on a single objective ranking. This shortlist compares notable narrative expansions from Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla, and Shadows by story focus, setting, and access. Ubisoft’s descriptions establish what each add-on contains, not which one is objectively best.
Best Assassin’s Creed DLC expansions at a glance
| Expansion | Best for | What it offers | Access note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Origins: The Hidden Ones | More Bayek and Brotherhood story | A historical continuation in Sinai, set four years after the main campaign. | Ubisoft’s 2018 announcement described it as post-campaign content; check your edition and store listing. |
| Origins: The Curse of the Pharaohs | Supernatural spectacle | Bayek encounters undead pharaohs and legendary creatures in a mystical setting. | Check the current listing for your platform and region. |
| Odyssey: Legacy of the First Blade | Hidden Blade and Order of the Ancients lore | A three-episode story arc about the Hidden Blade’s history and its connection to the Order. | Its first episode originally had a campaign-progress gate; see the access section below. |
| Odyssey: The Fate of Atlantis | Greek mythology and First Civilization lore | A second three-episode arc built around the legendary sunken city and mythic settings. | Sold separately on Ubisoft’s store; historical Season Pass contents are not a guarantee of today’s bundle. |
| Valhalla: Wrath of the Druids | Ireland and a cult-focused story | A journey to Ireland involving the Children of Danu and Gaelic kings. | Ubisoft Help says it appears in the Quest tab after reaching Ravensthorpe and forming at least one alliance. |
| Valhalla: The Siege of Paris | Grounded political and military conflict | A Francia campaign involving Charles the Fat, Paris, and new alliances. | Ubisoft Help gives the same Ravensthorpe and alliance prerequisite as for the other listed Valhalla expansions. |
| Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarök | A large-scale Norse mythic saga | An Odin-centered story featuring divine powers and a quest involving his son. | Ubisoft Help gives the Ravensthorpe and alliance prerequisite; the store lists it as a separate DLC product. |
| Shadows: Claws of Awaji | More Naoe and Yasuke after the main story | A post-campaign journey to Awaji with expansion-specific gear and activities. | Requires completing both protagonists’ main story arcs and a follow-up quest. |
Descriptions and access notes are based on Ubisoft announcements, support information, and store listings. Availability and bundle contents can differ by platform and region; check the live listing for your copy before buying. The Origins details come from Ubisoft’s 2018 announcement of The Hidden Ones and its announcement of The Curse of the Pharaohs. Odyssey details come from Ubisoft’s Season Pass announcement and Legacy of the First Blade preview. Ubisoft’s Valhalla post-launch page describes those expansions, while its Valhalla content support page explains access. Shadows details are in Ubisoft’s Road to Awaji guide.
Which Assassin’s Creed DLC should you choose?
Choose The Hidden Ones for a historical continuation
The Hidden Ones is the clearest pick if you want more of Origins’ central character and Brotherhood-era story without shifting into overt mythology. Ubisoft says the Sinai-set expansion takes place four years after the main campaign and adds missions and gear. Its 2018 announcement also raised the level cap to 45 and said progress could carry back into the main campaign; those are launch-era details, not current purchasing advice. Ubisoft’s announcement provides the setting and original feature details.
Choose The Curse of the Pharaohs for supernatural Egypt
This is the more fantastical Origins expansion. Ubisoft’s description sends Bayek into a mystical realm of undead pharaohs and legendary creatures, making it a better fit if you want supernatural encounters than a grounded historical continuation. The contrast with The Hidden Ones is more useful than treating the two as interchangeable add-ons. See Ubisoft’s Origins post-launch announcement for its description.

Choose Legacy of the First Blade for Odyssey’s Assassin lore
Legacy of the First Blade follows the history surrounding the first Hidden Blade and the conflict with the Order of the Ancients. It is a three-episode arc, so it offers a continuous story rather than one isolated mission. Ubisoft’s launch-era preview said the first episode was intended for players at level 28 or above and unlocked after the Naxos questline in Episode 7. Treat those figures and the quest gate as historical guidance that later updates may have changed. Ubisoft’s episode preview describes the arc and original access guidance.
Choose The Fate of Atlantis for myth and First Civilization
The Fate of Atlantis is the stronger match if your favorite parts of Odyssey are its mythological ideas and First Civilization lore. Like Legacy of the First Blade, it comprises three episodes, but its focus is the legendary sunken city and mythic realms rather than the Hidden Blade’s history. Ubisoft’s Season Pass announcement originally bundled both story arcs with Assassin’s Creed III Remastered and Assassin’s Creed Liberation Remastered. That is a historical bundle description, not proof the same pass or contents are currently available in every region.

Choose Wrath of the Druids for Ireland and a new regional story
Wrath of the Druids takes Eivor to Ireland, where the story involves the Children of Danu and gaining favor with Gaelic kings. Ubisoft also describes ring forts and smuggling activities. It suits players looking for a change of region and a cult-centered conflict rather than an Odin-focused mythic saga. The content description is on Ubisoft’s post-launch page.
Choose The Siege of Paris for political and military conflict
Of the three Valhalla expansions covered here, The Siege of Paris is the grounded political and military option. Its Francia campaign centers on Charles the Fat, infiltration of Paris, and forming new alliances. Ubisoft outlines the setting and story on its post-launch page.

Choose Dawn of Ragnarök for an Odin-led mythic saga
Dawn of Ragnarök shifts from Eivor’s historical setting to an Odin-centered story involving divine powers and Odin’s son. Choose it for Norse mythic adventure, not as a continuation of the Ireland or Francia campaigns. Ubisoft’s post-launch description sets out that premise; its phrase “most ambitious expansion in franchise history” is Ubisoft’s promotional characterization, not an independent comparison.
Choose Claws of Awaji if you have finished Shadows’ main arcs
Claws of Awaji is a continuation for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, not an early-game side trip. Ubisoft says the expansion released on September 16, 2025. To access it, complete the main story arcs for both Naoe and Yasuke, then finish the follow-up quest identified in Ubisoft’s Road to Awaji guide. The guide distinguishes paid expansion content from free introductory content, including a Bo-staff introduction and some skills or abilities available to all players. It lists Amazon Luna, Mac with Apple silicon, PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S; confirm current store availability for your platform before buying.

When can you start each expansion?
Do not assume every add-on is available from the opening hours of its game. The known prerequisites below are specific to the cited Ubisoft guidance; they are not a universal rule for the series.
- Origins: The Hidden Ones: Ubisoft describes it as taking place four years after the main campaign. Its announcement is a narrative placement, not a current in-game unlock guide.
- Odyssey: Legacy of the First Blade: Ubisoft’s original preview placed its first episode after the Naxos questline in Episode 7 and recommended level 28 or higher. Later updates may affect that launch-era guidance.
- Valhalla expansions: Ubisoft Help says Wrath of the Druids, The Siege of Paris, and Dawn of Ragnarök appear in the Quest tab after Eivor reaches Ravensthorpe and forms at least one alliance. Follow the instructions on the Ubisoft Help page if installed content does not appear.
- Shadows: Claws of Awaji: Complete both Naoe’s and Yasuke’s main story arcs, then complete the follow-up quest in Ubisoft’s access guide.
How to check what you own before buying
DLC access depends on the base game, edition, platform, and region. Season Pass contents announced at launch may not match a current store offer, and a listing in one territory does not establish availability elsewhere. Check the live store page for the platform and region where you play, then confirm whether the expansion is included in your edition or pass before purchasing it separately.
