This list covers the ranked major releases, spin-offs, and mobile games—but not every title in Ubisoft’s catalogue. It also predates neither the latest release: Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced launched on July 9, 2026, and is available now, but is not included in the 24-game ranking.

Freedom Cry began as downloadable content for Black Flag, but Ubisoft later released it as a standalone game. It follows Adéwalé and focuses on his fight against slavery in 18th-century Haiti. Its shorter length and dependence on Black Flag’s foundation keep it near the bottom, although it remains more substantial than its original DLC label suggests.

Platforms: PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Switch.
23. Assassin’s Creed: Altaïr’s Chronicles (2008)
This Nintendo DS and mobile prequel expands Altaïr’s early adventures through a much smaller, more constrained action game. It is historically interesting as an early attempt to bring the series to handheld hardware, but it does not offer the scale or freedom of the mainline games.
Platforms: Android, iOS, Nintendo DS.
22. Assassin’s Creed Identity (2016)
Identity is a free-to-play mobile spin-off in which players create their own Assassin and complete missions in Renaissance Italy. Character customisation gives it a distinct appeal, but its mobile structure and narrower ambitions place it well below the stronger console and PC entries.

21. Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia (2016)
This 2.5D stealth game moves the series into post-revolutionary Russia. Its art direction and side-scrolling format are appealing, but difficulty spikes and timed sections can become frustrating, particularly when players approach encounters aggressively instead of treating them as stealth puzzles.
Platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One.
20. Assassin’s Creed 2: Discovery (2009)
Discovery is a side-scrolling companion to Assassin’s Creed II, following Ezio through Spain. It is a historical curiosity for completionists, but modern access is an issue: Ubisoft removed the mobile version, while the Nintendo DS release is the currently documented physical version.
Platforms: iOS and Nintendo DS; the mobile version is no longer available through Ubisoft’s current storefronts.
19. Assassin’s Creed Bloodlines (2009)
Originally released for PSP, Bloodlines connects the first game and Assassin’s Creed II through Altaïr’s story. Its importance to the wider narrative is greater than its gameplay legacy, and it should not be confused with modern remasters of the main series. There is no current standalone PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox, or Switch release documented here.
Original platform: PSP.
18. Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India (2016)
The second Chronicles game has a striking visual identity and a setting rarely explored in the franchise. Its strict stealth design is also unusually punishing: combat can trigger automatic score penalties or outright mission failure, while upgrades depend on those scores. It works best for players prepared to repeat sections and learn the intended routes.
Platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One.
17. Assassin’s Creed Pirates (2013)
Pirates extracts the naval side of Black Flag and makes it the centre of the experience. It is primarily a naval-combat spin-off rather than a full open-world Assassin’s Creed adventure, so it is best approached as a focused companion for players who enjoyed ship battles more than parkour or assassination missions.
Platforms: Android, iOS, PC.
16. Assassin’s Creed III (2012)
Assassin’s Creed III brings the conflict to the American Revolution and introduces Connor, a very different protagonist from Ezio. Its frontier setting, naval missions, and historical scope are memorable, but awkward stealth controls and repetitive tree-climbing weaken the overall experience. The later remaster is the most practical modern version.

15. Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation (2012)
Liberation stars Aveline de Grandpré in 18th-century Louisiana and uses her three identities to vary how missions are approached. It was originally a standalone PS Vita game, not merely Assassin’s Creed III DLC. Later HD and remastered editions made it easier to play on home consoles and PC.
Original platform: PS Vita. Later releases: PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Switch.
14. Assassin’s Creed Rogue (2014)
Rogue reverses the usual premise by making Shay Cormac a former Assassin who joins the Templars. Its story bridges Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed III, while its North Atlantic setting adds icy naval exploration to the familiar ship-based formula. It is shorter and more focused than the biggest entries, but its perspective remains one of the series’ most interesting.
Platforms: PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Switch. Ubisoft also places Rogue in the series’ chronological order guide at Ubisoft News.

The original game established the series’ core ideas: historical cities, social stealth, parkour, investigations, and the conflict between Assassins and Templars. Its atmosphere and central mystery remain strong, but repetitive mission structure and more limited combat make it harder to recommend than its successors.
Platforms: PC, PS3, Xbox 360.
12. Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China (2015)
Chronicles: China is the strongest fit for players who want a compact, side-scrolling stealth game rather than an open-world adventure. Its painted visual style and Shao Jun’s story provide a memorable setting, although the format naturally limits exploration and character development compared with the mainline games.
Platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One.
11. Assassin’s Creed Unity (2014)
Unity remains one of the series’ best showcases for dense urban parkour. Revolutionary Paris is packed with crowds, rooftops, interiors, and cooperative missions, while its gear system gives Arno more customisation than earlier protagonists. Its disastrous launch shaped the game’s reputation, but that should not be confused with its current state: Ubisoft now advertises a 60-FPS console update on its current Assassin’s Creed page.
Platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One.
10. Assassin’s Creed Revelations (2011)
Revelations concludes Ezio’s story while returning to Altaïr and expanding the mythology of the first games. Constantinople is a rich setting, and the emotional closure is among the franchise’s strongest. The hookblade and tower-defence sections are less consistently successful, but the game’s narrative importance keeps it firmly in the upper half.
Platforms: PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Switch.

9. Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood (2010)
Brotherhood refines the formula introduced by Assassin’s Creed II and gives Ezio control of an expanding Brotherhood in Rome. Recruiting and deploying assassins makes the organisation feel tangible, while the city offers a more focused open world than many later entries. It is arguably the clearest expression of the classic Ezio-era design.
Platforms: PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Switch.
8. Assassin’s Creed Mirage (2023)
Mirage deliberately returns to a more compact stealth-and-parkour structure. Basim, first introduced in Valhalla, operates in ninth-century Baghdad, where investigations, contracts, disguises, and assassination opportunities matter more than sprawling RPG progression. It is the best choice for players who prefer the older identity of the franchise.
Platforms: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC. More background on its place in the series is available in GamesRadar’s series guide.
7. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate (2015)
Syndicate shifts the action to Victorian London and splits the lead role between twins Jacob and Evie Frye. The grappling launcher makes movement across the city faster, while trains, gangs, and industrial-era missions give the game a distinctive identity. Evie’s more stealth-oriented design also helps balance Jacob’s direct approach.
Platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One.
6. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag (2013)
Black Flag combines Edward Kenway’s pirate story with the series’ assassination framework and makes Caribbean naval exploration a central pillar rather than a side activity. Ship upgrades, sea shanties, islands, forts, and a strong supporting cast give it an unusually complete sense of adventure. It is less focused on the Assassin order than some entries, but few games in the series make exploration feel this inviting.
Platforms: PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Switch.

5. Assassin’s Creed Origins (2017)
Origins reworks the franchise as an action RPG, adding level-based combat, loot, skill trees, and a much larger Egyptian world. Bayek is a compelling protagonist, and the setting supports everything from city investigations to desert exploration. The RPG systems make it less immediately stealth-focused than the classic games, but they successfully modernised the series.
Platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One.
4. Assassin’s Creed Shadows (2025)
Shadows gives players two complementary protagonists in Sengoku-era Japan. Naoe is the shinobi specialist, built around stealth, mobility, and infiltration; Yasuke is the combat-focused samurai, better suited to direct confrontations. That contrast gives missions more flexibility and makes the setting feel mechanically meaningful rather than merely decorative.
Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2. Ubisoft currently lists the Claws of Awaji expansion as available. The game’s release and character details are also covered in GamesRadar’s series guide.

3. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (2020)
Valhalla is one of the series’ largest adventures, following Eivor from Norway into England during the Viking expansion. Raids, settlement building, alliances, exploration, and a broad range of side activities give it considerable variety. Its length can become overwhelming, but its world, combat, and character-driven arcs make it one of the franchise’s most substantial entries.

2. Assassin’s Creed II (2009)
Assassin’s Creed II transformed the original concept into a richer character adventure. Ezio’s growth across Renaissance Italy, the improved parkour, more varied missions, and memorable cities solved many of the first game’s structural problems. It is older than most entries here, but its combination of personality, pacing, and historical atmosphere still makes it an essential starting point.
Platforms: PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Switch.
1. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey (2018)
Odyssey takes the top position because it combines a vast Greek world with flexible exploration, naval travel, dialogue choices, branching quests, and a strong action-RPG progression system. Players choose Alexios or Kassandra at the start, and the game’s mercenary, cult, and mythological storylines give the ancient Mediterranean unusual scope.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is the latest released Assassin’s Creed game as of August 7, 2026, but it is not part of the 24-game GamesRadar ranking above. It launched on July 9, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Ubisoft describes it as an enhanced remake with upgraded visuals, upgraded gameplay, and new content. The Deluxe Edition includes the Master Assassin Character Pack and Master Assassin Naval Pack. Reported console features include ray-traced lighting and reflections and 60-FPS performance options, but performance should be checked by console model rather than assumed to be identical across PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
That means Black Flag Resynced is the newest release, while the original Black Flag remains the ranked sixth-place entry. The two should not be treated as the same edition when comparing platforms, features, or release dates. Ubisoft’s current franchise page lists Resynced as available now.
