Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallThere is no separate bitrate recommendation for a 24/7 prerecorded YouTube stream. Use YouTube’s live-ingestion recommendation for the resolution, frame rate, and codec you send: for 1080p at 30 fps, that is 14 Mbps for H.264 or 10 Mbps for AV1 or H.265. These are recommendations, not minimum requirements or guarantees against interruptions. YouTube’s live encoder settings are the reference for the signal going into the live stream.
Choose a bitrate for the signal YouTube receives
Match the bitrate to the stream’s ingest codec, resolution, and frame rate—not to an unrelated file export or upload setting. YouTube publishes live-encoder recommendations, but does not identify a special bitrate category for prerecorded or continuous 24/7 broadcasts. The values below are in Mbps.
| Ingest resolution and frame rate | AV1 or H.265 minimum | AV1 or H.265 recommended | H.264 minimum | H.264 recommended |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2160p (4K), 60 fps | 10 | 35 | 14 | 50 |
| 2160p (4K), 30 fps | 8 | 30 | 11 | 42 |
| 1440p, 60 fps | 6 | 24 | 8 | 34 |
| 1440p, 30 fps | 5 | 15 | 7 | 21 |
| 1080p, 60 fps | 4 | 12 | 6 | 17 |
| 1080p, 30 fps | 4 | 10 | 5 | 14 |
| 720p, 60 fps | 2 | 6 | 3 | 8 |
| 720p, 30 fps | 2 | 6 | 3 | 8 |
| 480p, 30 fps | 0.3 | 3 | 0.4 | 4 |
| 360p, 30 fps | 0.3 | 3 | 0.4 | 4 |
The minimum and recommended columns are distinct: a minimum is not YouTube’s recommended target. Choose a row for the actual outgoing signal. YouTube publishes separate upload encoding recommendations; those apply to uploaded video, not live ingestion.
How to pick the right row
Start with the resolution and frame rate
Decide what viewers should receive and what your source material and encoder can sustain. For example, if you send 1080p at 30 fps, use the 1080p30 row even if the prerecorded file was exported at a different setting.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Match the codec
Read the recommendation under the codec actually sent to YouTube. At 1080p30, H.264’s recommended bitrate is 14 Mbps; AV1 or H.265’s is 10 Mbps. Do not treat the lower codec’s number as applicable to an H.264 stream.
Check sustained upload capacity
A bitrate target only helps if the connection can sustain it. YouTube advises running an upload speed test, testing before going live with audio and motion similar to the planned broadcast, and monitoring stream health and messages during the stream. For a continuous channel, check that performance remains adequate over time; a brief successful test does not establish uninterrupted service.

Encoder settings and preflight checks
- Set the ingest protocol: YouTube lists RTMP and RTMPS and recommends RTMPS for encrypted transport.
- Set a supported video codec: YouTube lists H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1, with frame rates up to 60 fps.
- Use constant bitrate: YouTube specifies CBR encoding and recommends a 2-second keyframe interval; do not exceed 4 seconds.
- Test the complete broadcast: run an upload speed test, then test with representative audio and motion before the actual stream.
- Watch stream health: monitor YouTube’s stream health and messages while live, and respond to warnings rather than assuming the recommended bitrate prevents problems.
YouTube says to “test before you start your live stream” in its encoder guidance. For a stream without real-time interaction, low latency is not automatically an advantage: YouTube notes that lower latency can mean more playback buffering and matters less when the broadcaster is not interacting with viewers. See YouTube’s live settings guidance.
