The reliable starting point is a wired Ethernet connection, a bitrate your connection can sustain continuously, YouTube’s recommended encoder settings, and a real test monitored in YouTube Studio. You normally do not need a static IP address or port forwarding to send an OBS stream out to YouTube.

These are encoder and local-network choices, not a BSNL-versus-Jio router preset. Router models, local line conditions, plans, and available account options vary. An advertised download speed does not establish sustained upload performance.
Choose a bitrate your connection can hold
YouTube’s published H.264 encoder recommendations include the following values. They are platform recommendations, not guarantees that a particular BSNL or Jio connection can maintain them around the clock.

Use the recommended value only if your measured upload stays reliably above the encoder bitrate while the household is using the connection. The stream also needs capacity for audio and normal variation; other household traffic can compete for upload. If the connection fluctuates, reduce the output resolution or bitrate and test again rather than targeting the advertised maximum.

OBS’s troubleshooting guidance suggests 75% of total upload as a starting point for bitrate selection, not as a universal rule. Treat it as a rough starting point, then validate the actual stream. YouTube also recommends testing upload bitrate with a speed test.
Configure Windows and OBS for YouTube
- Connect by Ethernet. Plug the Windows PC directly into the router or supplied ONT/router using a suitable Ethernet cable. If you must use Wi-Fi, test from the same location and band you will use for the stream; do not assume a speed test near the router predicts performance at the PC.
- Set the output to a sustainable resolution and frame rate. For a demanding continuous stream, start with a lower option if upload stability is uncertain. You can move to a higher output after a representative test shows stable performance.
- Set rate control to CBR. Enter the bitrate selected for your measured connection and intended resolution. Do not set it solely from a download-speed result or advertised plan speed.
- Set the keyframe interval to 2 seconds. Do not exceed 4 seconds.
- Choose RTMPS when available. Use the RTMPS server option provided by YouTube in the encoder workflow. Google describes RTMPS as RTMP carried over an SSL connection; YouTube recommends it so the data is encrypted to Google’s servers.
- Use your YouTube stream key carefully. Copy the key from YouTube’s live-streaming workflow into OBS’s stream settings. Treat it like a password: do not publish it or send it to anyone. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube before resuming.
- Test the actual programme. Use motion and audio similar to the intended stream, not just a static screen. Start a test stream and check YouTube’s stream health and any messages before relying on the setup continuously.
YouTube’s recommended H.264 bitrates are listed above. The platform also lists H.265 and AV1 among supported encoder options; the values in the table are specifically its H.264 recommendations, so do not assume those numbers apply identically to another codec.

Do BSNL or Jio require a static IP or port forwarding?
For an ordinary outbound OBS-to-YouTube stream, the available guidance does not establish a need for either. The BSNL Kolkata document titled “Static IP and server configuration” discusses modem-side virtual servers for services such as FTP and HTTP, which is a server-hosting use case. That does not demonstrate a requirement to configure port forwarding or buy a static IP to send an encoded stream to YouTube.
Jio’s consumer support guidance covers wired LAN use and router security, but it does not establish one model-independent router setting for YouTube ingest. JioBusiness material about static IPv4 and port forwarding concerns a distinct business offering; it is not evidence that residential streamers need those features.

Do not disable the router firewall, open inbound ports, or change DNS, MTU, or static-IP settings just because OBS is dropping frames. Begin with the connection, bitrate, and OBS diagnostics below. Keep router Wi-Fi credentials secure and manage the device through the provider’s normal support tools.
Test the connection before committing to 24/7 operation
- Measure upload at the streaming PC. Run a speed test over the same wired connection you plan to use. Repeat at different times if practical; a single result cannot establish continuous performance.
- Run a representative YouTube test. Stream the intended content, including typical motion and audio, at the proposed resolution and bitrate.
- Watch YouTube stream health. Look for warnings, interruptions, or evidence that the incoming stream is unstable. A speed test alone cannot reveal every routing or packet-loss issue.
- Test household load. Check whether normal uploads, backups, or other users’ activity cause instability. If they do, reduce the stream bitrate or avoid overlapping heavy upload use.
- Record failures with timestamps. If faults persist, note when they occur and preserve OBS logs so your ISP can investigate local line faults or congestion.
Neither a provider’s name nor an advertised speed is enough to predict a 24/7 result. To compare BSNL and Jio at a particular address, assess sustained upload under load, dropouts or packet loss, stream health during a representative test, local repair response, and whether Ethernet is practical. The available sources do not support a fair current nationwide performance ranking between the two.

Troubleshoot dropped frames and disconnections
- OBS reports dropped frames or disconnects: Lower the bitrate first and retest over Ethernet. This commonly points to network-path stability or a bitrate the connection cannot sustain; it is not, by itself, evidence that you need a static IP or port forwarding.
- Wi-Fi streams fail but wired tests improve: Keep the PC wired if possible. OBS warns that Wi-Fi may be unstable for streaming, and Jio’s guidance describes wired LAN as faster and more stable than Wi-Fi for streaming.
- Bitrate is already reduced but faults continue: Check whether other household uploads coincide with the problem, review OBS logs, and contact the ISP with timestamps to ask about local line faults or congestion.
- Only security software seems to interfere: Identify the cause before changing protection. OBS advises checking for interference and, if security software is confirmed as the cause, adding a program exception. Do not leave security software disabled as a permanent workaround.
- Considering OBS network options: Keep “Bind to IP” at “Default” unless you have a specific reason to change it. OBS also offers Windows network optimization/TCP pacing and dynamic bitrate options. Dynamic bitrate may lower quality to reduce interruptions; OBS notes that it does not repair the underlying connection problem.
