That is a specifications-based shortlist, not a tested performance recommendation. Confirm the provider’s continuous-streaming rules, traffic accounting and SLA terms before paying. If you are looping prerecorded sermons rather than sending a live camera feed, a managed option such as StreamNeo may be simpler than renting and administering a VPS.
Choose the server for the kind of sermon stream you run
A VPS is a virtual server you administer remotely. Its requirements depend on what it must do with the video:
- Relay an already-encoded live feed: The server forwards a feed that another device or encoder has prepared. The shortlist below is most relevant to this use, but no listed plan has a published benchmark for this workload.
- Encode a live camera or switcher feed: The VPS must process video in real time as well as send it. The available plan information does not establish which server can encode a particular camera feed, resolution or frame rate; do not assume a plan sized for relaying will also encode reliably.
- Loop prerecorded sermons: A VPS can be configured to send prerecorded material, but it still needs administration and a continuous outbound stream. For this workflow, compare a managed option such as StreamNeo, which loops uploaded videos or playlists to YouTube; it is not a VPS and is not a live-camera encoder.
For a live camera or switcher, an encoding computer and possibly a capture device may be part of the setup. YouTube’s guidance covers encoder configuration, but does not endorse a specific capture card.

A port rate describes the link speed; it is not the amount of data included over a month. The figures below are vendor-published listings checked in 2026, not independent performance tests.

| Provider and location | Published plan | Transfer and port | Terms to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| VyomCloud, Mumbai | ₹360/month: 1 vCPU, 2 GB RAM; ₹1,040/month: 2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM; ₹1,600/month: 4 vCPU, 8 GB RAM | 0.5 TB at 100 Mbps; 2 TB at 250 Mbps; 5 TB at 250 Mbps, respectively | Provider page claims a 99.5% uptime SLA. Check its measurement scope, exclusions and remedy, plus traffic accounting and permission for continuous streaming. VyomCloud Mumbai VPS plans |
| HeavenCloud, Mumbai | ₹340/month, 2 GB RAM and 15 GB SSD | 1-Gbps port described as “unmetered” | The available listing does not establish a monthly fair-use limit, continuous-streaming policy or service-level remedy. Ask for these in writing. HeavenCloud Mumbai VPS |
| Soft Host, city not identified in the listing | ₹599/month, 4 vCore, 8 GB RAM and 50 GB NVMe | Up to 1-Gbps uplink; bandwidth described as “unmetered (Fair Use)” | The listing does not identify a city or applicable fair-use allowance. It claims 99.9% uptime; check the SLA terms and continuous-streaming permission. Soft Host VPS plans |
For the 720p30 relay example, VyomCloud’s listed 5-TB plan is the clearest fit on stated transfer allowance. Its specifications and SLA figure remain provider claims; neither a port speed nor an uptime claim proves that a stream will stay uninterrupted.
Estimate the monthly traffic before selecting a plan
YouTube recommends H.264 video at 8 Mbps for 720p30 and 14 Mbps for 1080p30. The estimates below assume decimal units and an uninterrupted 30-day month of 2,592,000 seconds. They calculate video payload only; audio and network overhead are extra.

| Stream setting | YouTube recommended video bitrate | Estimated video payload over 30 days | Planning implication |
|---|---|---|---|
| 720p30 H.264 | 8 Mbps | 2.592 TB, plus about 0.041 TB for 128-Kbps stereo audio, before protocol overhead | A 5-TB allowance has more room than the estimated payload, but verify what the provider counts and allow for overhead or other traffic. |
| 1080p30 H.264 | 14 Mbps | 4.536 TB, before audio and overhead | A 5-TB monthly allowance leaves little margin once audio, overhead and any other traffic are included. |
These are arithmetic estimates using YouTube’s recommended bitrates, not measured VPS usage. The bitrate recommendations and encoder requirements are documented in YouTube’s live encoder settings. If the planned stream runs at a different bitrate or duration, calculate from the actual video and audio rates instead of treating these monthly totals as universal.
Set up and test the YouTube encoder
- Decide where encoding happens. If the VPS only relays an encoded feed, configure the upstream encoder and relay path accordingly. If the VPS must encode a camera or switcher feed, first verify that the server can handle the intended real-time workload; the listed provider specifications do not establish that.
- Configure the encoder to YouTube’s recommendations. Use RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval (do not exceed four seconds), and 128-Kbps stereo audio. For H.264, YouTube recommends 8 Mbps video for 720p30 or 14 Mbps for 1080p30. See YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance.
- Create the event and obtain its stream key. Follow YouTube’s instructions for creating a live stream with an encoder. Treat the stream key like a password: use it only in the intended encoder or relay configuration and do not publish it.
- Run a representative test before the service. Test with sermon audio and typical movement, then check YouTube’s stream health. Confirm that the VPS can sustain the chosen outgoing bitrate and that the account’s monthly traffic allowance is adequate.
- Keep a recovery plan. Confirm who can restart the encoder or relay and regain access to the server if the process stops. A provider’s published uptime figure is not a guarantee that the encoder, relay configuration or YouTube connection will never fail.
Check policy, billing and reliability before committing
- Continuous-streaming permission: Ask the provider whether a persistent outbound YouTube stream is permitted under its acceptable-use terms.
- Traffic accounting: Get the monthly allowance, overage or throttling behavior, reset date and fair-use limits in writing. “Unmetered” or “unmetered (Fair Use)” does not by itself establish unlimited continuous traffic.
- Renewal and location: Confirm the recurring price, taxes or other charges, and the actual data-center city. The Soft Host listing cited here does not state a city.
- SLA remedy: For any stated uptime SLA, review how uptime is measured, which outages are excluded and what remedy is available. The quoted percentages are provider claims, not independently measured stream availability.
- Operational responsibility: A VPS requires someone to configure and maintain the relay or encoder, protect server access and respond when the process or connection fails.
- YouTube rules: Use content the church has the rights to stream, including music, recordings and any third-party material. A stream remaining technically online does not settle copyright or YouTube policy questions.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the church is looping prerecorded sermons, StreamNeo is a managed alternative to administering a VPS: upload a recording or build a playlist, add the YouTube stream key, and go live. It plays uploaded videos to YouTube; it does not take a live camera feed. Nothing has to stay on at home, including a computer or home internet connection. Every slot streams the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. The monthly option is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or start the free first day.
