Best Buy says participating U.S. stores will offer limited quantities of the Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 system, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Switch 2, and the matching Pro Controller during a late-night event on November 4–5, 2026. The retailer has not published store-by-store unit counts, and its event page describes the openings as taking place at select stores, so check your local store before traveling.
When Best Buy’s late-night event starts
Best Buy’s October 8, 2026 announcement says nearly all of its U.S. stores will open at midnight Eastern Time on November 5 for the game’s launch. In other U.S. time zones, that corresponds to 11 p.m. Central, 10 p.m. Mountain, 9 p.m. Pacific, and 8 p.m. Alaska on November 4; stores in Hawaii are listed as opening at 6 p.m. Hawaii time on November 4. Best Buy’s announcement gives the schedule, while its event page labels the event “In select stores.” Use Best Buy’s store locator to check whether your location is participating and confirm its local details.

What Best Buy says will be available
Best Buy says stores will have a limited number of three items for purchase:
- The Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 system
- Copies of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Switch 2
- The Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 Pro Controller
The event page says the system and controller are limited quantity with no rainchecks; game copies are available while supplies last. Best Buy has not disclosed how many units of any item will be sent to an individual store, so the announcement does not guarantee that a particular location will have stock when you arrive.

How preorders and pickup work
Best Buy says game preorders are available in stores, online, or through its app. If you selected store pickup, the retailer says you can collect the game during the late-night opening. Customers who chose shipping may receive an email offering an option to change the order to store pickup. That preorder information applies to the game; it does not establish a reservation or guarantee for the separately listed limited-edition console or controller.
Keep the game and console release dates separate
Best Buy lists Ocarina of Time for Switch 2 as releasing November 5, 2026. Its separate listing for the Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 system gives October 29, 2026 as that product’s release date, and says the game is not included. Buying the console therefore does not include a copy of the game.
