The recommended C9 setup for the 2024 Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 multiplayer beta was built for mid-range fights without giving up close-quarters handling: Redwell Reflex, Long Barrel, Vertical Foregrip, Quickdraw Grip, and Combat Stock. The same beta-era guide paired it with a GS45, Knife, Flashbang, Semtex, Trophy System, Ghost, Tracker, Vigilance, Perk Greed, and Flak Jacket. These are historical recommendations, not a claim about the live game’s current meta.
Recommended C9 attachments for the beta
This five-attachment setup comes from a beta-era guide republished by Arcader News, which attributes it to Polygon. Its stated aim was a flexible C9 for mid-range engagements that could still handle close encounters.
| Slot | Attachment | Why the guide chose it |
|---|---|---|
| Optic | Redwell Reflex | An early unlock; the guide notes that sight choice is personal preference. |
| Barrel | Long Barrel | Intended to extend damage range for the build’s mid-to-long-range focus. |
| Underbarrel | Vertical Foregrip | Intended to help manage horizontal recoil at range. |
| Rear Grip | Quickdraw Grip | An early unlock intended to improve aim-down-sights speed in close fights. |
| Stock | Combat Stock | Intended to improve aim-walking movement speed and flinch resistance. |
These are the guide’s reasons for selecting the parts, not results from a controlled attachment comparison. The official beta patch notes described the C9 as a well-rounded SMG with a solid rate of fire and more horizontal recoil than other SMGs, making recoil control a relevant consideration. Treyarch also increased the C9’s medium damage range from 25.4 m to 27.31 m in a beta balance adjustment; those are patch-note values from the 2024 beta, not current live-game statistics. Read the official Black Ops 6 Open Beta Patch Notes.
If your C9 is leveled further
The guide suggests trying a Ported Compensator or Muzzle Brake and replacing Long Barrel with Reinforced Barrel as additional C9 attachments become available. Treat these as alternatives to experiment with, not a proven upgrade: the sources do not provide a controlled head-to-head comparison.
#1 Best Overall
- Officially-licensed Call of Duty Black Ops 6 design
- Mixed-rise thumbsticks upgrade your aim and control
- Mid-rise left stick upgrades grip and movement
- High-rise right stick increases precision for faster and more accurate aiming
- Laser-etched proprietary rubber top for extra grip and comfort
Class setup recommended alongside the C9
The same guide recommended this supporting class for the beta:
- Secondary: GS45
- Melee: Knife
- Tactical: Flashbang
- Lethal: Semtex
- Field Upgrade: Trophy System
- Perks: Ghost, Tracker, and Vigilance
- Wildcard: Perk Greed
- Extra perk: Flak Jacket
The guide’s rationale was that the three blue perks activate Recon, while Perk Greed adds a fourth perk; it described Flak Jacket as extra explosive protection when the Trophy System is unavailable. In the beta’s loadout rules, three perks of one color activated a combat specialty, and Perk Greed allowed an extra perk. The official Call of Duty: NEXT overview explains the beta’s loadout components and wildcard rules.

How to decide whether this build fits your play
- For range: Long Barrel was selected to support longer engagements.
- For recoil: The Vertical Foregrip was intended to help with horizontal recoil, a trait Treyarch specifically noted for the C9 relative to other beta SMGs.
- For close fights: Quickdraw Grip was chosen for faster ADS handling.
- For sight preference: Redwell Reflex was an early option, but the guide treats the optic as a matter of personal preference.
- For unlock progress: The guide’s C9 was available in custom loadouts at level 4, so the exact options depended on progression.
No measured winner, time-to-kill result, or performance advantage was established for this attachment combination. Pick based on the engagement distance and handling trade-offs you prefer rather than treating “best” as a tested universal result.

This recommendation applies to the 2024 multiplayer beta, not to a currently playable beta or a guaranteed current-game build. Activision’s official beta guide listed Weekend One as August 30 through September 4, 2024, and said custom loadout classes unlocked at level 4. It presented the beta as a limited preview ahead of the game’s October 25, 2024 launch.

Builds also differ by period. A PC Gamer guide published November 6, 2024 recommended a different, post-launch C9 configuration: Kepler Microflex, Compensator, Long Barrel, Vertical Foregrip, Commando Grip, No Stock, Fast Motion Laser, and Recoil Springs. That later list is not a replacement for the beta recommendation, and neither list establishes today’s live-game meta. See PC Gamer’s post-launch C9 loadout guide.
