In Throne and Liberty, “class” means the build created by your two equipped weapons. There is no single best pairing for every activity: large-scale PvP, small-scale PvP, PvE damage, healing, and tanking reward different strengths. For October 2026, treat published rankings as dated guidance, not a current definitive ladder: the broad Talandre tier list dates to May, the newer PvE list to August, and official updates 4.12.0 and 4.13.0 have since changed skills or equipment effects. No full cross-mode tier list published after September 23 establishes a new overall order.

Start with the job you want to do, then choose weapons whose strengths fit it. These are source-attributed suggestions rather than guaranteed rankings for the current patch.

A tier label is a ranking source’s judgment, not an in-game restriction. In particular, a lower-listed pairing is not thereby unable to clear content.
PvE: compare the August snapshot, not just the older list
For readers asking which build is good for PvE, GamingRift’s August 31, 2026 list is the more recent supplied PvE-specific comparison. It rates Wand/Orb, Staff/Wand, and Crossbow/Orb S tier. It lists Crossbow/Dagger, Staff/Longbow, Greatsword/Wand, Sword and Shield/Wand, and Sword and Shield/Bow in A-tier or specialized roles in the excerpted table. GamingRift also characterizes Crossbow/Dagger as a PvP pick rather than a sustained-PvE choice. These positions reflect that guide’s criteria, not measured damage results or an October ranking. The older Talandre reference provides a separate PvE DPS ladder, but it should not be merged into a current single ranking. It was marked March 27 and Throney says it was checked against Maxroll on May 13, 2026. The tiers below are useful as a dated snapshot only. Throney’s Talandre tier reference

These rankings answer different questions: one is an older cross-mode reference, while the other is a newer PvE-specific guide. A tier is not a promise that a build will outperform another in every encounter, nor does a C-tier placement mean a pairing cannot complete PvE content.

PvP: large-scale and small-scale are different jobs
The May-refreshed Talandre reference separates siege-scale fights from skirmishes. Because control, survivability, mobility, damage, and party utility matter differently as the fight size changes, use the appropriate column rather than treating “PvP” as one activity. The notable shift is not a universal rule but a reminder to match the build to the scale of combat: Greatsword/Dagger and Crossbow/Dagger feature in the small-scale S tier, while Wand/Longbow is S tier in large-scale and B tier in small-scale in this particular list.

Healing and tanking: judge utility, not only damage rank
Support and tank roles need their own criteria. TechBloat’s May article recommends Wand/Longbow as a group-support choice and Sword and Shield/Greatsword as a frontline option; it also names Greatsword/Dagger and Crossbow/Dagger as damage pairings. For a support or frontline choice, decide what your party actually needs: healing and group utility, durability and space-making, or damage contribution. Then consider whether you can perform that job consistently. A damage tier list cannot by itself tell you how well a build fits a particular party composition.

Gauntlets: treat pairing advice as provisional
Amazon Games added Gauntlets in update 4.0.0 on June 24, 2026, alongside expanded character progression and weapon mastery. Older Talandre rankings do not include this weapon, so Gauntlets pairings belong in a separate category. Amazon Games update 4.0.0

Balance changes make those launch-era expectations especially time-sensitive. Amazon Games’ September 23, 2026 update 4.13.0 says: “Blood Explosion now deals 40% less damage and applies the damage as fixed damage on hit. The fixed damage effect lasts 3 seconds, stacks up to 3 times, and cannot trigger Heavy Attacks.” This is a change to the Blood Explosion effect for Gauntlets Skill Core: Crimson Imprint; it does not establish how a full weapon pairing performs relative to another. Why October 2026 rankings need a date label
The official update index reviewed October 4, 2026 lists updates 4.12.0 and 4.13.0, as well as an October Resistance Report describing forthcoming combat-stat and weapon rebalance work. The broad list above was refreshed in May, and GamingRift’s PvE list was published August 31. No full cross-mode tier list published after September 23 establishes a definitive post-4.13 ranking, so neither older tier set should be presented as the current October order. Patch figures are not performance benchmarks. For context, Amazon Games raised the character level cap from 55 to 60, introduced Snowsoul Weapons as a tier above Ascended Archboss Weapons with upgrade recipes, and raised maximum equipment item level from 80 to 90 in 2026 updates. Those numbers describe progression and equipment changes, not win rates or DPS for weapon combinations. How to choose your pairing
- Pick the activity first. Decide whether you are mainly building for PvE damage, siege-scale PvP, small-group fights, or a support/frontline role.
- Use a ranking that matches that activity. Do not transfer a small-scale PvP placement to PvE or read a PvE DPS tier as a tank ranking.
- Choose your contribution. Compare the kind of damage, survivability, crowd control, mobility, healing, and group utility the cited guide associates with the pairing, while recognizing those are qualitative considerations here, not measured axes.
- Account for ease and consistency. GamingRift explicitly includes ease of pickup alongside sustained damage and versatility; a build you can execute reliably may suit you better than a higher-listed but uncomfortable option. GamingRift’s August PvE ranking
- Recheck after substantial updates. Rankings are editorial and patch-sensitive. Official patch notes establish what changed; they do not on their own establish a new best pairing.
