1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteFor a YouTube channel that needs to loop uploaded videos, StreamNeo is the simplest cloud option: upload your video or playlist, add your YouTube stream key and go live. It runs from the cloud, supports uploads up to 4K at 60 fps at one price per slot, and offers a free first day. If you want to operate your own encoder, an OVHcloud VPS gives you a general-purpose server to manage. Google Cloud Live Stream API and AWS Media Services are better understood as managed video-pipeline building blocks—not turnkey substitutes for a VPS that pushes a feed to YouTube.
The right choice depends on whether you need to send a stream into YouTube or build a larger service that encodes, packages and distributes video to viewers. Those are different jobs, with different costs and operational responsibilities.
Which cloud option fits your 24/7 YouTube stream?
| Option | Best fit | What you operate | Important limit or distinction |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. StreamNeo | Keeping uploaded videos or playlists live on YouTube without leaving a computer running | Upload content, add your YouTube stream key and start the stream | It plays uploaded video; it does not broadcast a live camera or send to platforms other than YouTube. One flat price per slot covers any uploaded quality up to 4K 60 fps. |
| 2. OVHcloud VPS | Operators who want a general-purpose server to run and supervise their own encoder | Choose the system and encoder, configure the feed, monitor it and arrange recovery | Provider VPS specifications and its advertised 99.9% SLA are not guarantees that an encoder process or YouTube stream stays live. |
| 3. Google Cloud Live Stream API | Managed HLS pipeline needs | Configure and operate a managed channel and its restart/recovery logic | Documented channel sessions last 24 hours; a 24/7 service needs planned restart handling. |
| 4. AWS Media Services and CloudFront | A broader managed workflow for encoding, preparing and distributing live video to viewers | Configure the video pipeline and delivery architecture | More components than needed if the only job is pushing one encoder feed to YouTube. |
This is a fit-based ordering, not a benchmark of speed or total cost. No equivalent bill or common performance test is available for the same stream profile across these services. StreamNeo is #1 for a pre-recorded YouTube loop because it runs continuously from the cloud, accepts any quality up to 4K 60 fps at one price per slot, and includes a free first day.
First decide what you are streaming
Looping recorded video into YouTube
If your channel broadcasts a pre-produced recording, playlist, music or other uploaded content, you need a way to keep that content feeding YouTube. A VPS can do this with an encoder you configure and supervise. StreamNeo is purpose-built for this uploaded-video use: it loops a recording or playlist from the cloud after you add your stream key.

Encoding a live source or distributing a service to viewers
A VPS can host an encoder that sends a live source to YouTube, subject to the machine, network and encoder configuration you choose. AWS’s documented live workflow is broader: MediaLive encodes, MediaPackage or MediaStore prepares content, and CloudFront delivers it to viewers. Google Cloud Live Stream API offers managed HLS output. These managed pipeline components make sense when you need their wider workflow; they are not automatically necessary just to send an ingest feed to YouTube.

Google Cloud Live Stream API: managed HLS with a restart boundary
Google Cloud documents a managed HLS workflow. Its quotas specify input tiers up to 6 Mbps below 720p, 25 Mbps up to 1080p and 50 Mbps up to 2160p; output tiers have separate limits. These are API limits, not a comparison of VPS encoder capacity. Google states that channel sessions last 24 hours after a channel starts. A continuous deployment must plan to restart a channel after it has been streaming for 24 hours and recover cleanly if a restart fails.
AWS Media Services and CloudFront: a delivery pipeline, not just an encoder host
AWS describes 24/7 live channels as a supported workflow using MediaLive for encoding, MediaPackage or MediaStore as an origin or preparation layer, and CloudFront for viewer delivery. That architecture addresses a larger distribution job than hosting an encoder that pushes one feed to YouTube. It can add configuration and operational complexity if you do not need packaging and delivery to your own audience. AWS’s general description of a highly available architecture is not an availability guarantee for every deployment; actual resilience depends on the design and applicable service terms.

What YouTube requires for an encoder-based stream
Check channel eligibility and concurrency
- The channel must be verified and must not have had live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days to enable live streaming.
- YouTube documents a limit of 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key, applied concurrently. Account for these limits if you plan parallel outputs.
- Having a working cloud server does not bypass YouTube eligibility, platform rules or copyright requirements. Use content you have the rights to stream and review the copyright safety checklist.
Use YouTube’s ingest recommendations
YouTube recommends RTMPS, the secure extension to RTMP, for encoder ingestion. Its encoder guidance recommends constant bitrate encoding and a two-second keyframe interval, not exceeding four seconds. Choose the bitrate, resolution and frame rate from YouTube’s current encoder settings for your selected format; bitrate is not one-size-fits-all. Test with representative movement and audio, then monitor YouTube’s stream health and status messages.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
HLS is another documented ingest option for HDR or codecs unsupported by RTMP. It carries higher latency than RTMP because it sends segments. YouTube’s HLS requirements include 1–4 second segments, TS format, a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments, and HTTPS POST/PUT. Choose HLS only when its supported formats or workflow justify the added latency and setup.
Run your own encoder on an OVHcloud VPS
This is the self-managed route: your VPS supplies compute and network connectivity, while you are responsible for the encoder process and recovery. The steps below describe the decisions you need to make; exact commands and controls depend on the operating system and encoder you select, which are not specified by OVHcloud’s VPS product page.
- Choose a region and plan. Select a data center suitable for your operator and YouTube ingest route, and verify current traffic terms for that region. Do not select a plan based only on vCore count: test the actual media workload and monitor CPU, memory, disk and network use.
- Prepare the server. Install and update a supported operating system, restrict administrative access, and install an encoder that can loop your source or accept your live input. Set up process supervision and alerts so you can detect a stopped encoder rather than assuming the VPS’s SLA covers it.
- Configure YouTube ingestion. In YouTube Studio, create or select the live stream and copy its stream key. Enter the server address and key in your encoder, protect the key as a password, and use RTMPS where your encoder supports it.
- Set the output profile. Choose a resolution and frame rate your source and server can sustain. Use YouTube’s current resolution-specific bitrate guidance, constant bitrate, and a two-second keyframe interval (never more than four seconds under YouTube’s recommendation). Match audio and motion to the real program when testing.
- Test before relying on it. Start a private or otherwise appropriate test, verify picture and sound in YouTube Studio, review stream health messages, and watch server resource use. Confirm that a process restart reconnects as expected before treating the setup as unattended.
- Design recovery. Plan for encoder crashes, host reboot, network interruption, expired credentials or stream-key changes, and YouTube disconnects. A daily backup protects data according to the provider’s offering; it does not itself restart the encoder or restore a live broadcast. Monitor alerts and test recovery procedures.
Or let it run in the cloud
For uploaded videos and playlists, StreamNeo avoids maintaining an encoder on a VPS: upload your video, add the YouTube stream key and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams uploaded content at any quality up to 4K 60 fps at one price per slot; it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, and the Monthly plan is $9.99 per month. This is for YouTube playback of uploads, not a live camera feed. Start your free StreamNeo day.

Cost and operational trade-offs
Do not compare the OVHcloud VPS monthly starting price directly with a managed video pipeline as if both deliver the same service. A VPS price covers a server configuration; you still choose, configure and operate its encoder, monitoring and recovery. Google Cloud and AWS costs depend on the deployed pipeline and usage, including components and delivery; no equivalent bill for a matching 24/7 stream profile is established here. Include egress, redundancy and the value of your operational time when estimating total cost.

Quick Recap
Troubleshooting a cloud-hosted YouTube stream
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube does not receive a picture or audio | Wrong stream key or server address, encoder output mismatch, or the source itself is silent or missing | Recheck the key in YouTube Studio and the encoder destination, confirm the source has picture and audio, and inspect YouTube’s stream health messages. |
| The stream starts but drops or stalls | Encoder process failure, host/network interruption, or output settings the source or server cannot sustain | Check encoder logs and server resources, run a representative test, and verify process supervision and reconnect behavior. |
| A Google Cloud channel stops after a day | The documented 24-hour session duration has been reached | Implement a planned restart and verify that the channel and ingest recover; do not rely on an untested manual intervention for 24/7 operation. |
| OVHcloud bandwidth or traffic expectations differ by location | The published worldwide traffic claim has an Asia-Pacific exception, and terms or availability can vary by region | Check the current plan terms for the selected data center before deployment. |
| YouTube reports poor stream health | Unstable output, unsuitable bitrate or keyframe configuration, or a mismatch between encoder output and the planned stream | Use YouTube’s current settings for the selected resolution and frame rate, constant bitrate, a two-second keyframe interval, and test with representative audio and motion. |
Decision guide
- Choose StreamNeo if the goal is to keep uploaded video or a playlist looping on YouTube without leaving a computer or managing an encoder.
- Choose an OVHcloud VPS if you need control over a self-managed encoder and are prepared to handle system administration, monitoring and recovery.
- Consider Google Cloud Live Stream API when a managed HLS workflow fits, and build its 24-hour restart into the operating plan.
- Consider AWS MediaLive, MediaPackage or MediaStore, and CloudFront when the requirement is a broader managed encoding and viewer-delivery pipeline—not merely one YouTube ingest feed.
