Ask about maximum file size and duration, total storage, simultaneous streams, and supported resolution. Confirm whether those limits change by plan and whether the playlist or scheduler is included. - Check rights and prepare the file. Confirm the church has permission for every sermon, song, image, and other element in the recording to be streamed online. Check the file’s duration and size against the provider’s limits.
- Upload or import the recording. Confirm the upload completes and that the service accepts its resolution and format. If you intend to rotate several recordings, add them to the intended playlist.
- Choose the correct broadcast mode. Create either a scheduled single broadcast or a continuous loop. Check the playlist order and what happens when the final video ends.
- Connect the church’s YouTube channel. Follow the provider’s current instructions for connecting YouTube or entering a stream key. Keep the key private; anyone with access to it may be able to broadcast to the channel.
- Run a test and inspect YouTube. Verify that the stream starts, plays the recording with sound and picture, and appears as expected to viewers. Test what happens at the end of a video, on a loop restart, and after a disconnect. Check whether YouTube retains the live archive as the church expects.
- Confirm operational details. Before paying, get clear answers on storage, duration and file-size limits, resolution, concurrent streams, destinations, support availability, and any extra charges.
Copyright and church streaming rights
A church’s right to play music in a service does not automatically settle whether it can stream that music in a recording. Castr’s church guidance says streaming copyrighted worship music generally requires a streaming license, gives CCLI as an example, and says Castr does not clear music rights. Confirm the church’s specific coverage with its licensing provider; do not assume that a platform subscription supplies music permissions. YouTube may also apply its own copyright systems, so review its current copyright guidance and resolve any claims or restrictions before relying on a recording for a continuous stream.
When a live production setup is still needed
Cloud playout is for prerecorded videos. If the church also wants to broadcast a service as it happens, it needs a separate live-capture chain: cameras, an audio feed from the sound board, an encoder (hardware or software such as OBS), and dependable upload bandwidth. That equipment captures a live event; it does not by itself provide unattended looping of prerecorded services in the cloud.
