Finals Week is not playable yet. SteamDB lists its release for 29 October 2026 at 16:00 UTC, so the best games to play on 18 October are substitutes that already deliver hidden suspicion, uneven team objectives, social bluffing or chaotic local competition.
Choose Deceit 2 for the closest dark, role-based deception; Goose Goose Duck for a large or mixed-platform lobby; Get Stuffed! for asymmetrical social horror; and Party Saboteurs: After Party for a same-room group. Keep Cut That Wire on your watchlist rather than treating it as an available game.

What Finals Week promises, and what you can play now
Finals Week is described on its Steam Community listing as “A co-op cheating simulator where you and your friends try to graduate school without studying a single page.” Its SteamDB entry tags it Team-Based, Online Co-Op, Stealth, Party Game, Funny, Physics and First-Person, with a scheduled launch of 29 October 2026 at 16:00 UTC. That combination suggests coordinated rule-breaking, concealment and comic teamwork rather than a conventional competitive shooter.

Hidden roles and accusation favor Deceit 2 or Goose Goose Duck. Horror with asymmetrical action points toward Get Stuffed! A controller-sharing gathering is better served by Party Saboteurs: After Party. Cut That Wire has the right imposter-at-the-table premise, but it was still unreleased in the cited PC Gamer report and had no announced release date there.

Deceit 2 is the closest match for deliberate deception
Pick Deceit 2 when your group wants every conversation to carry risk. The official site calls it “Free-to-play social deduction horror for up to nine players” and confirms releases on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with full crossplay. That combination removes two common barriers: the game does not require everyone to own the same console, and the free-to-play model makes a trial session easy to organize.
How its roles create suspicion
The Steam description divides the cast into three perspectives: “Inspire fear as the Infected, investigate as the Innocent, or create mayhem as the Cursed.” Those roles give a round a built-in information conflict. The Infected benefit from fear and deception; Innocents need to investigate; Cursed players introduce a third agenda rather than simply joining one of the two obvious sides. Your group therefore has to interpret behavior, not just complete a checklist.
When to choose it
- Choose it for a group that enjoys accusations, incomplete information and the possibility that a confident teammate is manipulating the room.
- Use it when a darker horror presentation is welcome. It is a poor fit for players who want a light cartoon atmosphere or who dislike being singled out by other players.
- It is the strongest pre-launch stand-in for the social tension implied by Finals Week’s co-op cheating premise, even though its setting and horror structure are different.
Crossplay planning
Because the official site specifies full crossplay across the listed platforms, organize the session around the game’s lobby rather than around a single console ecosystem. Confirm that everyone has installed the same current build, agree on a voice channel before launching, and decide whether newcomers should receive a short explanation of the three role names. The role distinction is central enough that skipping that explanation can turn the first round into confusion instead of deduction.

Goose Goose Duck is the practical pick when your party is larger than a small hidden-role lobby or includes friends on different systems. Gaggle Studios’ store copy describes it as “a game of social deduction for up to 16 players,” and says players are separated into groups with different objectives. Its feature listing adds proximity voice chat, cross-platform play, unique roles, tasks, sabotage and neutral objectives. The store listing also marks it free to play.

Why the objective structure scales
The basic loop gives each faction a recognizable job. Geese work through tasks, ducks sabotage and eliminate, while neutral players pursue secret objectives of their own. That third category matters in a large room: not every suspicious action means a player is helping the primary opposing team. A neutral objective can explain behavior that looks irrational from a goose’s or duck’s perspective.
Why proximity voice chat changes the table
Proximity voice chat makes information local. Players can hear some conversations and miss others depending on where they are, so a witness may have only a partial account of an event. This supports short, evidence-based accusations better than a system in which every player hears every sentence. It also means your group should establish a simple etiquette rule before starting: do not continue discussing a round after your character is eliminated unless the game’s rules explicitly permit it.
When it is better than Deceit 2
Select Goose Goose Duck when the priority is capacity, lighter presentation or a lobby that includes players on different platforms. Its many roles and objectives can create more varied rounds, but that variety increases the explanation burden. For a first session, use a conservative role setup, explain what the task side is trying to accomplish, and add unusual roles only after everyone understands the meeting and accusation rhythm.
Get Stuffed! suits groups that want asymmetrical social horror
Get Stuffed! is labeled by Steam as “an Asymmetrical Multiplayer Social Horror game,” with Online Co-Op, Party Game and Online PvP tags. The useful distinction is that it is not presented as a pure meeting-room deduction game. Its identity combines social deception with horror and action in an asymmetrical multiplayer format.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)

What asymmetry means for your decision
In a symmetrical party game, everyone is usually solving the same kind of problem with different information. An asymmetrical game gives sides different capabilities or objectives. That can make a round feel more active than a discussion-heavy deduction game, but it also makes balance and role comprehension more important. Players should expect to learn what each side can do before they can reliably judge suspicious behavior.
Who should pick it
- Choose Get Stuffed! if your group wants the anxiety of social deception without giving up movement, pressure or horror-game energy.
- Pick it over a lighter deduction game when atmosphere is part of the appeal and players enjoy being chased, surprised or forced to react.
- Skip it for a quiet, accusation-focused evening in which the main entertainment is reading lies and debating evidence.
The available tags establish its online co-op, party-game and online-player-versus-player framing, but they do not establish a single universal group-size recommendation. Check the current store listing for the platform and lobby details that apply to your group before buying or installing.
Party Saboteurs: After Party is built for couch chaos
Party Saboteurs: After Party is the outlier because its listing describes it as “primarily a competitive local multiplayer game.” The same listing says its local co-op mode supports two to four players, expanding to eight when controllers are shared. That makes it a practical choice for a living-room gathering where the social experience matters more than online role secrecy.

How to organize a local session
- Set up the display where every participant can see the action and keep spare controllers charged or connected.
- For the cleanest control scheme, begin with the listed two-to-four-player local co-op range.
- If more people want to join, agree in advance on controller-sharing turns so nobody is surprised by alternating control.
- Use short rounds or a rotation order. In a couch setting, spectators can stay engaged by coaching their current controller partner without taking over.
Why it is not a direct hidden-role replacement
Its published description emphasizes competitive local multiplayer and controller-sharing capacity, not a specific Infected-versus-Innocent role structure. Choose it for immediate, face-to-face mischief and sabotage-style party play, not because you expect the same investigation loop as Deceit 2 or Goose Goose Duck.

Cut That Wire belongs on a watchlist, not in tonight’s plan
PC Gamer reported on Cut That Wire as a cooperative bomb-defusal puzzle in which an imposter tries to steer friends toward the wrong wire. That premise is highly relevant to anyone attracted to Finals Week’s combination of teamwork and concealed interference: players must communicate under pressure while one person benefits from bad advice.
However, the cited report did not announce a release date. Treat it as a future option, not a currently playable recommendation. Do not schedule a group around it until a storefront lists a launch date and the developer confirms the platforms and player capacity.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Choose by group size, tone and platform
Start with the constraint that can eliminate a game immediately. A large online party needs a title whose published capacity covers everyone. A couch gathering needs local multiplayer. A mixed-console group needs cross-platform support. Only after that should you choose between horror, cartoon deduction or competitive party action.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems| Your group’s priority | Best fit | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Closest social-deduction tension to Finals Week | Deceit 2 | Its Infected, Innocent and Cursed roles make suspicion and competing motives the central experience. |
| More than a small lobby | Goose Goose Duck | Its published capacity reaches 16 and its objectives support multiple factions and neutral agendas. |
| Cross-platform online play with no purchase barrier | Deceit 2 or Goose Goose Duck | Both are identified as free-to-play; Deceit 2’s official site explicitly confirms full crossplay, while Goose Goose Duck’s listing specifies cross-platform play. |
| Horror and active asymmetrical play | Get Stuffed! | Its Steam classification combines social horror, online co-op, party-game and online PvP elements. |
| Everyone is in the same room | Party Saboteurs: After Party | The listing centers competitive local multiplayer and supports controller sharing for a larger couch group. |
| Cooperative puzzle with an imposter premise | Cut That Wire | The reported bomb-and-wire concept fits, but its release status prevents it from being a current option. |
If your group wants horror
Use Deceit 2 when accusations and role interpretation should dominate. Use Get Stuffed! when you want those social pressures combined with asymmetrical action. The former gives you a clearly documented three-role structure; the latter is defined more broadly by its social-horror and online-player-versus-player classification.

If your group wants a lighter party atmosphere
Goose Goose Duck’s cartoon presentation and task-based structure are the safer recommendation. Party Saboteurs: After Party works better still when everyone is physically together and wants quick competitive rounds instead of a sustained online investigation.
If your group has mixed hardware
Deceit 2 is the clearest documented answer because its official site explicitly promises full crossplay among PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Goose Goose Duck’s feature listing also specifies cross-platform play. Confirm that every participant is using a supported platform and the same regional store version before the session.
A practical pre-session checklist
- Count players first. Match the number of people who will actually join to the published capacity or local mode, not to the maximum number you hope to recruit.
- Separate online from local needs. Party Saboteurs: After Party is designed around local multiplayer; Deceit 2 and Goose Goose Duck are the online choices documented with cross-platform features.
- Tell newcomers what kind of deception to expect. Hidden roles, neutral objectives, asymmetrical horror and controller-sharing chaos are different experiences. A one-sentence warning prevents mismatched expectations.
- Agree on voice etiquette. For proximity chat, decide how your group handles eliminated players and accidental overhearing. For couch play, decide whether coaching is allowed.
- Schedule around the actual date. Finals Week’s listed launch is 29 October 2026 at 16:00 UTC. Until then, describe these games as alternatives rather than as modes inside Finals Week.
- Verify live storefront details. Platform support, regional availability and current system requirements can change; consult the relevant store page immediately before installing.
Three ready-made game-night plans
Small online group seeking the closest substitute
Start with Deceit 2. Explain the three role names before the first round, play one low-pressure orientation match, then let the group settle into evidence-based accusations. The goal is to make players comfortable with suspicion before adding extra house rules.
Large mixed-platform group
Use Goose Goose Duck. Begin with the straightforward task, sabotage and elimination structure, keep neutral roles limited for the opening round, and rely on proximity voice chat to create local information pockets. Add role variety only after everyone understands how meetings and objectives interact.
Couch gathering with more spectators than controllers
Use Party Saboteurs: After Party. Start inside the two-to-four-player local co-op range, then introduce shared-controller rotations if more people want turns. Keep rounds short enough that waiting players have a clear next turn.
What none of these games can promise about Finals Week
Finals Week’s school setting, first-person presentation, physics tag and stealth tag come from its own SteamDB and Steam descriptions. The alternatives cover pieces of that idea rather than reproducing the whole package. Deceit 2 supplies hidden roles and horror; Goose Goose Duck supplies multi-faction objectives and proximity conversation; Get Stuffed! supplies asymmetrical social horror; Party Saboteurs supplies local competition; Cut That Wire supplies the reported cooperative-imposter puzzle concept once it actually launches.
That distinction matters when inviting friends. Say which ingredient you are replacing—deception, group scale, horror, couch play or cooperative sabotage—so nobody expects a school-themed simulation that is not yet available.
