Check that your specific platforms and editions can join each other before buying. If your group prefers replayable roguelike runs, consider Ravenswatch; if you are open to a co-op shooter, Deep Rock Galactic has storefront-specific cross-play limits.
Which co-op dungeon crawler should your group choose?
| Game | Co-op and party size | Cross-platform support established here | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Diablo IV | Campaign co-op and instanced dungeons; parties of up to four. | Blizzard advertises cross-play and cross-progression, but its current landing page does not spell out every supported platform pairing. | A persistent action-RPG campaign, dungeons, and loot. |
| Ravenswatch | Online co-op and matchmaking for two to four players. | The Xbox listing identifies Xbox cross-platform co-op. It does not establish wider pairings. | Run-based roguelike play, especially for groups using Xbox. |
| Deep Rock Galactic | The Xbox listing describes a one-to-four-player co-op shooter. | Xbox One and the Windows Store version can play together; Steam does not cross-play with those versions. | An adjacent option for groups happy with a cooperative shooter rather than a fantasy dungeon crawler. |
Diablo IV: best fit for a shared campaign and dungeon runs
Diablo IV is the clearest match if your group wants an action-RPG campaign alongside instanced dungeon play. Blizzard’s feature overview says the campaign can be played with friends and that progress syncs to the party leader; it also describes dungeon parties of up to four. See Blizzard’s Diablo IV page for its current cross-play and cross-progression claims, and Blizzard’s gameplay overview for the campaign and dungeon details.

Cross-play is advertised, but the current landing page used here does not provide a complete compatibility matrix. Before purchasing, confirm the exact platform pairing and edition for everyone in the group. Blizzard also lists a Battle.net account and internet connection as requirements on its current game page.
Ravenswatch: a run-based alternative with Xbox cross-play evidence
Choose Ravenswatch if your group would rather play roguelike runs than follow a persistent campaign. Its Xbox listing labels the game as online co-op with matchmaking for two to four players and identifies Xbox cross-platform co-op. Those details make it a relevant option for Xbox groups, but the listing does not verify Xbox-to-PC or Xbox-to-PlayStation play. Check the listing for the platform you plan to use: Ravenswatch on Xbox.
#1 Best Overall
- DYNAMIC DUNGEON BUILDER: Modular tiles and evolving layouts create a new adventure every session. Double-sided cards become rooms or gear, so the map shifts as you explore. No two playthroughs are ever the same.
- TEAMWORK AND TACTICS: Choose from 8 unique heroes and work together in this fully co-op experience. Share loot, combine abilities, and coordinate strategies to survive enemies and defeat the boss.
- SMART CARD SYSTEM: Every card has two uses—expand the dungeon or boost your hero. This dual-purpose deck system drives deep decisions and exciting trade-offs with just three cards in hand.
- PLAY SOLO OR TOGETHER: Designed for 1–4 players, with solo rules built in. Whether you're flying solo or gathering your group, the scalable difficulty and quick sessions make it perfect for all setups.
- BIG FUN, SMALL BOX: Fast setup, quick turns, and replayable modes packed into a compact box. Perfect for weeknights, travel, or casual groups who want a dungeon crawler without the bulk or burnout.
Deep Rock Galactic: check the storefront before forming a party
Deep Rock Galactic is a cooperative first-person shooter, not a conventional fantasy dungeon crawler, so it is best treated as an adjacent pick. Its cross-play compatibility depends on where the game is running: the developer says Xbox One and the Windows Store version can play together, while the Steam version cannot cross-play with them. A party split between Steam and those versions should not assume it can join up. See the developer’s cross-play information for the restriction.

How to choose for your group
- Start with the game format. Pick Diablo IV for campaign progression and instanced dungeons; pick Ravenswatch for roguelike runs.
- Compare the exact platforms and storefronts. “Cross-play” is not enough detail by itself: Diablo IV’s cited page does not list every pairing, Ravenswatch’s cited cross-play claim is Xbox-specific, and Deep Rock Galactic excludes Steam from the Xbox/Windows Store pairing.
- Confirm party size. The cited sources establish up to four players for Diablo IV dungeon parties, two to four for Ravenswatch online co-op, and one to four for Deep Rock Galactic on Xbox.
- Verify the edition and current listing before purchase. Availability and edition details can change, and a game’s general cross-play label may not answer whether your friends’ particular versions can play together.
