Best Control Settings for Absolum Mobile Gameplay: Touch Layouts and Controller Setup

By VGSources Team 11 min read

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For the most demanding Absolum fights, start with a compatible MFi or Bluetooth controller and the default mapping. The developers recommend controller play on the PC version, and a physical stick plus separate face buttons generally makes repeated movement, attacks, dodges, jumps and special actions easier to execute. If you prefer the touchscreen, the mobile edition has a redesigned interface with complete touch control: keep movement and attack under your thumbs, move only hard-to-reach actions, and test the arrangement in a low-risk encounter before a serious run.

There is no officially published universal sensitivity value, dead-zone number or button preset for Absolum Mobile. The best layout depends on your device size, thumb reach, controller and play style, so use the documented support as a starting point and tune the physical arrangement around your own hands.

What Absolum Mobile officially supports

The official store listings establish that the mobile release was designed around more than a scaled-down PC interface. Google Play describes a “Revamped interface – exclusive mobile UI with complete touch control,” and also lists controller compatibility, cloud save and cross-progression. The Google Play listing shows an update date of August 27, 2026. Apple’s listing uses the same “Revamped interface – exclusive mobile UI with complete touch control” wording and explicitly says the game is “Compatible with MFi controllers.” It lists iOS 16 or later and an A12 Bionic chip or later.

The Steam listing is useful context for choosing an input method: it says, “The developers recommend playing this game with a controller,” while also listing full controller support. That recommendation is for the PC version, not a tested mobile preset, but it is a sensible reason to try a controller first when a mobile fight demands fast, simultaneous inputs.

Those listings do not publish one official mobile button map, a sensitivity slider value, a dead-zone setting, a gesture scheme or a device-independent remapping preset. Treat the arrangements below as practical setup guidance rather than developer-certified settings.

Choose your input method before changing settings

Both methods are legitimate. The right choice is the one that lets you repeat the same action without losing movement control or tiring your hands.

Decision point Touchscreen Compatible controller
Input precision Direct taps can be quick, but accuracy depends on button size, spacing and where your thumbs naturally rest. Physical sticks, buttons and triggers provide tactile boundaries and a consistent press point.
Long-session comfort Works without extra hardware, but gripping a phone while reaching several on-screen actions can fatigue your hands. Usually easier for extended combat if the controller fits your hands and the phone or tablet is supported separately.
Portability Nothing additional to pack. Requires carrying, charging and pairing the controller.
Setup friction Open the game and adjust the on-screen arrangement, if needed. Pair the controller, confirm every input registers and check the game’s default mapping.
Button reach Can be customized around your thumb reach; poorly placed actions may be hidden by fingers or the device edge. Buttons stay in fixed physical locations, so reach is predictable once you learn the layout.
Compatibility Built into the mobile interface. Use a model supported by your phone or tablet; Apple’s listing specifically calls out MFi controllers.

Use touch when immediate portability matters or you are comfortable building muscle memory around a screen. Use a controller when repeated dodge timing, simultaneous movement and attack, or long sessions make taps inconsistent. You can also keep both available: touch for short sessions and a controller for difficult runs.

Best touchscreen setup, step by step

1. Begin with the default arrangement

Load the default mobile layout before moving anything. A stock arrangement gives you a known baseline and prevents you from changing several variables at once. Play a short encounter and note the exact failure: a button may be covered by your thumb, too close to another action, or outside a comfortable reach. Change only the control connected to that failure.

Do not spread every control across the entire display immediately. Large movements create new reach problems and make it harder to remember where an action moved. A small, deliberate adjustment is easier to evaluate and undo.

2. Keep movement and attack continuously reachable

Movement and the primary attack are the controls you use most often. Place the virtual movement control where your left thumb naturally lands in landscape orientation, and keep the attack control in easy reach of the right thumb. The exact screen coordinates should follow your hand size rather than a universal diagram.

The lighting is vibrant yet eye-friendly. The built-in 600mAh battery provides up to 6 hours of battery life in brightness mode — enough for a full day of gaming

Check that your thumb can return to movement after pressing attack without lifting your hand or sliding across another button. If the attack control is so close to the display edge that your finger sometimes misses it, bring it inward. If the movement area is too high or low for your grip, move it only far enough to create a relaxed thumb position.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

3. Place dodge, jump and special actions around the attack hand

Dodge, jump and special actions need to be available without abandoning movement. Put them near the thumb that handles attack, but leave visible separation between each action. The objective is not minimum distance; it is reliable identification under pressure.

  • Dodge: Give it the clearest route from the attack position, because pressing the wrong nearby action during an incoming hit is more costly than taking a slightly longer reach.
  • Jump: Keep it distinct from dodge so a fast tap cannot drift onto the neighboring control.
  • Special action: Place it where you can reach it while still seeing the combat area and without covering another frequently used button.

If your build exposes size or opacity controls, increase visibility for actions you miss and reduce visual clutter for controls you rarely press. If it exposes only position changes, prioritize spacing and thumb travel instead of trying to reproduce a layout from another phone.

4. Preserve a thumb-sized safety margin

Buttons at the edge of a phone are easy to clip with the side of a thumb, especially when the device is in a case. Leave a margin between each important control and the bezel. Keep enough empty space that a press on attack cannot also trigger dodge or jump. A layout that looks compact in the menu may feel crowded once your fingers cover part of the screen.

Tablet screens offer more room, but that does not mean every control should be pushed outward. Excessive spacing increases travel time. Start with the default grouping, then move only the controls that your own reach makes awkward.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

5. Play in landscape and support the device

Landscape orientation gives both thumbs a stable left-right role and matches the way the mobile interface is arranged. Rest the phone or tablet on a stand, case, desk or other support when possible instead of squeezing it tightly. Supporting the device reduces grip tension and keeps your thumbs over the same areas from one encounter to the next.

Set brightness and volume before a run so you do not have to release your controls during combat. These are general ergonomic recommendations, not settings documented by Playdigious, and they should be adjusted for your room, battery level and comfort.

6. Test in a low-risk encounter

Do not judge a new map in the middle of a difficult run. Enter an encounter where you can safely walk, attack, dodge, jump and trigger a special action. Test each action separately, then test the combinations that usually fail: movement while attacking, movement followed immediately by dodge, and attack followed by a special action.

Watch for three symptoms: missed taps, accidental neighboring presses and a thumb that has to leave movement for too long. Fix one symptom at a time. If the same action remains unreliable after two small moves, restore the default and try a different location rather than continuing to compress the layout.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

7. Keep a stable profile for muscle memory

Once the controls feel dependable, stop moving them between runs. Consistent positions matter more than a theoretical perfect arrangement. Make a note of the final locations or take a screenshot so you can restore them after a reset, device change or update. If another person uses the device, create a separate profile only if the game provides one; otherwise record the shared arrangement before changing it.

A practical touchscreen priority map

The following order is a way to decide what to move first, not an official preset:

  1. Place movement where the left thumb rests naturally in landscape.
  2. Place attack where the right thumb can press repeatedly without stretching.
  3. Move dodge into the shortest safe route from attack, with clear separation.
  4. Place jump where it cannot be confused with dodge.
  5. Place the special action within reach but away from the buttons you press continuously.
  6. Move infrequent or secondary controls last, after the combat controls work.

This order protects the actions that define moment-to-moment survival. It also prevents a common mistake: optimizing a rarely used button while leaving movement or attack awkward.

Controller setup and mapping

Pair the controller before launching a serious run

Use a compatible MFi controller on Apple devices, or a compatible Bluetooth controller where your phone, tablet and controller support that connection. Pair it through the device’s normal Bluetooth settings, then open Absolum and verify that the game recognizes the input. A wired or wireless model may behave differently across devices; the important check is whether every required input registers in your own setup.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Charge the controller and put the phone or tablet in landscape orientation.
  2. Pair the controller in the device’s system settings.
  3. Launch Absolum after pairing, or reconnect from the game if it was already open.
  4. Use the default mapping first.
  5. Test both sticks, every face button and each trigger that the game exposes.
  6. Walk, attack, dodge, jump and use a special action in a safe encounter before starting a serious run.

If one button does not register, disconnect and pair again, then test the controller in another app or the device’s game-controller panel. If the controller works elsewhere but not in Absolum, return to the game’s default mapping and restart it. Do not assume that a familiar console layout is active until the in-game test confirms it.

Keep the default mapping until you identify a real problem

Changing several physical buttons at once makes it difficult to tell whether the issue is the controller, the game’s mapping or muscle memory. Use the default map for a complete encounter. Remap only an action that is genuinely difficult to reach or that conflicts with a button you use constantly. After each change, repeat the same movement, attack, dodge, jump and special-action checks.

Use the controller’s physical advantages

Keep movement on the stick that feels most natural and use the face buttons for actions you need to press quickly. Triggers can be useful for an action only if they register reliably on your model and do not require an uncomfortable grip. The game’s official listings do not publish a universal controller map, so the final choice should follow the labels and feedback shown by your own device.

Settings that matter outside the control map

Control reliability is affected by the session around it. Before playing, choose a comfortable landscape position, support the device, set brightness and adjust volume. On a phone, avoid gripping so tightly that your thumb position changes when an encounter becomes intense. On a tablet, support the larger frame so both hands can stay relaxed.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The Steam listing documents adjustable difficulty, save-anytime, subtitle options, custom volume controls, stereo sound and keyboard-only play for the PC version. Those entries do not establish that every option has an identical mobile menu or label, so use the options actually shown in your mobile build. They are useful reminders that audio, readability and difficulty can be part of a comfortable session, but they are not replacements for a reachable combat layout.

How to troubleshoot common control problems

Touch buttons are hard to hit

  • Return to the default layout and identify one problem button.
  • Move that button inward from the edge and toward the thumb that uses it.
  • Increase separation from adjacent actions, then retest in a safe encounter.
  • If the problem persists, change the device grip or support it rather than moving every control.

Accidental dodge, jump or special presses

Increase the gap between the mistaken action and attack. Check whether your thumb is landing on the neighboring control because the buttons are too close, or because the device is shifting in your grip. A supported device and a slightly wider gap often solve different causes of the same symptom.

The controller connects but inputs do not work

Confirm that the controller is paired to the device currently running the game, then restart the game with the controller connected. Test each face button, stick and trigger. If only one action fails, restore the default mapping before trying a new assignment. If none of the inputs register, verify that the controller is compatible with the device and operating-system version.

A layout feels fine in the menu but fails in combat

Menus do not reproduce the speed or visual pressure of a fight. Test the exact sequences you use during an encounter, especially movement while attacking and a rapid dodge. If your thumb repeatedly leaves movement, move the secondary action rather than shrinking the movement area.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

You changed the layout and want to undo it

Use the game’s reset or default-layout command if your mobile build provides one. If it does not, manually return the controls to their original positions or reinstall only as a last resort after confirming your save is protected. Google Play lists cloud save and cross-progression, but you should still verify that your account and current progress are synchronized before removing app data.

What is not an official “best setting”

No searched official listing supplies a numeric touch sensitivity, a dead-zone value, a universal button-size percentage, a gesture setting or an Absolum-specific mobile remapping preset. A number copied from another game would therefore be a personal recommendation, not an official Absolum setting. Device dimensions, thumb reach, controller model and play style change the result.

Be cautious with guides that promise one layout for every phone. A control position that works on a compact handset can be too close to the bezel on a larger device, while a tablet arrangement can force excessive thumb travel on a phone. The dependable method is to preserve movement and attack, create a clear route to dodge, jump and special actions, and validate the result in an actual encounter.

Pre-run checklist

  • Landscape orientation is comfortable and the device is supported.
  • Movement and attack can be pressed repeatedly without stretching.
  • Dodge, jump and special actions are separated and reachable without abandoning movement.
  • Every controller input registers, if a controller is connected.
  • Brightness and volume are set before the run.
  • The current layout has been tested in a low-risk encounter.
  • Your save or cross-progression status is synchronized before changing devices or app data.

For a first attempt, use the default mobile layout or default controller map, make one targeted adjustment, and test it. That conservative process produces a more reliable setup than copying an unverified numeric preset.
