Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is announced for Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo describes Joy-Con 2 mouse controls for moving units and accessing information, with the option to switch between mouse and button controls. If you want a conventional controller, Nintendo lists the Switch 2 Pro Controller as compatible with the console—but the official information does not confirm that it provides the game’s mouse input or establish its full, game-specific support.
Which controllers are options for Fortune’s Weave?
| Controller | What Nintendo’s information establishes | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| Joy-Con 2 | The game page specifically describes their mouse controls for moving units and accessing information, and says players can switch between mouse and button controls. Nintendo’s game page | Players who want the announced mouse-control option, as well as button controls. |
| Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller | Nintendo lists it as compatible with Switch 2. That is console-level compatibility; the reviewed information does not confirm mouse input or every game-specific control feature. Nintendo’s Switch 2 compatibility information | A conventional controller choice for standard button-based play, subject to the game’s supported controls. |
| Original Nintendo Switch Pro Controller | Nintendo says it can connect wirelessly to Switch 2. This does not establish game-specific support or feature parity. Nintendo’s Switch 2 compatibility information | Existing owners who want to try a controller they already have. |
| Original Switch Joy-Con | Nintendo says the original Joy-Con can connect wirelessly, but cannot attach to the Switch 2 console. Nintendo also notes a compatible charging accessory may be used to charge them. Nintendo’s Switch 2 compatibility information | Existing owners willing to use them wirelessly; not a substitute for the specifically announced Joy-Con 2 mouse controls. |
Can you play with a Switch 2 Pro Controller?
It is the clearest conventional-controller alternative in Nintendo’s compatibility information: the Switch 2 Pro Controller is listed as compatible with the console. Nintendo’s game description also says players can switch between mouse and button controls. However, the available official details do not explicitly confirm the Pro Controller’s support in Fortune’s Weave, document its button mapping, or say it can provide the mouse input assigned to Joy-Con 2. Treat it as a console-compatible option, not a verified replacement for every announced game feature.
Do you need Joy-Con 2 for mouse controls?
Joy-Con 2 are the only controllers Nintendo’s game page specifically associates with mouse controls. Nintendo says those controls can be used to move units and access information. The page also describes switching between mouse and button controls, so the announced control scheme is not mouse-only. It does not establish that another controller can reproduce Joy-Con 2 mouse input.
What about original Switch controllers?
Nintendo’s console compatibility information says original Switch Joy-Con and the original Switch Pro Controller can connect wirelessly to Switch 2. That says what can connect to the console, not which inputs Fortune’s Weave will support on those controllers.

There is one practical distinction for Joy-Con owners: original Joy-Con cannot attach to the Switch 2 console. Nintendo says a compatible accessory, such as a Joy-Con charging grip or charging stand, can be used to charge them. A charging grip is an optional charging accessory—not a separate controller alternative or a gameplay requirement.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which option should you choose?
- Choose Joy-Con 2 if you want the mouse controls Nintendo specifically describes for the game.
- Consider the Switch 2 Pro Controller if you prefer a conventional controller and want Nintendo’s listed Switch 2-compatible option. Game-specific support and mouse-input parity are not established in the published information described above.
- Try an original Switch Pro Controller or original Joy-Con if you already own them and are comfortable with wireless use, while recognizing that console connection does not guarantee the game supports every input.
No third-party controller model is verified for this game in the official information cited here, so there is not enough evidence to recommend a specific one.
