Just Dance 2017 is the strongest broad pick for Wii U among the games covered here: Nintendo’s launch announcement lists more than 40 new tracks, six modes, smartphone scoring and support for up to six simultaneous players. Those are launch claims, not a current catalogue audit or an independent quality ranking. Nintendo’s announcement also said it was sold in shops and on Nintendo eShop when it launched; today, buyers should look for a physical copy because new Wii U eShop purchases have ended.

Why Just Dance 2017 is the broadest pick
Nintendo UK’s announcement dated 2016-10-28 describes Just Dance 2017 as having over 40 new tracks and six game modes. It also says up to six players can dance at once. These figures describe what Nintendo announced at launch; they are not a verified count of everything currently playable, and the player figure is Nintendo’s stated support rather than an independent test.
The same announcement says the Just Dance Controller app lets a smartphone score a player’s moves, and that players using a smartphone did not need an extra Wii Remote in the described setup. Treat this as a claim for Just Dance 2017, not a guarantee about every Just Dance game, edition or mode. Read Nintendo’s launch announcement for its original availability and feature details.

When Just Dance 2016 or 2014 makes sense
Just Dance 2016
Nintendo’s European 2015 release schedule confirms Just Dance 2016 as Wii U software published by Ubisoft and lists an October 2015 European release date. The schedule does not provide a track catalogue, mode list, player limit or controller instructions, so there is not enough evidence here to rank it against the other games on those features. Just Dance 2014
Nintendo’s European bundle notice documents a Wii U package containing Just Dance 2014 and a Wii Remote Plus. It describes Party Master, in which the GamePad can be used to choose moves or cue songs. The notice also described World Dance Floor as online multiplayer at the time, but Nintendo later ended Wii U online play and other online-communication functionality. What to check before buying or setting up
Buying a copy
Nintendo ended new Wii U eShop purchases and free downloads, including demos, on 2023-03-27. For a game you do not already own, plan on finding a physical copy where available. Nintendo said previously purchased games and DLC could still be redownloaded for the foreseeable future; that does not restore new purchases. Current listings, prices, disc condition, region compatibility and seller reliability vary and are not established here. Controllers and player setup
Do not assume one controller arrangement fits every title. For Just Dance 2017, Nintendo specifically described smartphone scoring as an alternative to an extra Wii Remote. Nintendo’s Just Dance 2014 bundle included a Wii Remote Plus, but that bundle does not establish a universal requirement for every release or mode. Check the manual or the exact game listing for its controller setup before buying additional hardware.
