Choose Lords of the Fallen (2023) for a more overtly grim setting built around travel between two parallel realms. The Blood of Dawnwalker, released on 3 September 2026, is a current option if you want an open-world dark-fantasy action RPG. None is a direct substitute for At Fate’s End: Thunder Lotus describes its upcoming game as an action-adventure about combat, narrative puzzles and emotionally charged duels with estranged siblings.
What to expect from At Fate’s End
Thunder Lotus currently lists At Fate’s End as expected in 2027, with no final launch date announced. You play as Shan, a young heiress wielding the God Sword Aesus, in a hand-crafted fantasy world that combines combat, narrative puzzles and duels with her siblings. The game is planned as a single-player release for Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox and Xbox Game Pass. A demo is currently available on Steam; Thunder Lotus estimates about 90 minutes to complete it and notes that development is ongoing. Which dark-fantasy RPG fits what you want?
“Best” here means the closest fit for a particular preference, not a measured quality ranking. The official descriptions support comparisons of setting, exploration hooks, combat emphasis and platform availability; they do not establish an objective winner.

ELDEN RING: the broadest exploration pick
Bandai Namco identifies ELDEN RING as an action RPG set in an authentic dark-fantasy world, with treacherous dungeons and boss encounters among its central attractions. That combination makes it the clearest recommendation if you want room to roam alongside combat challenges, rather than a closer match to At Fate’s End’s family-centered story. The publisher lists PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Check that the edition you are considering is for your platform; Bandai Namco also notes that Shadow of the Erdtree requires the base game.

Lords of the Fallen (2023): two realms and a grimmer tone
The official page presents Lords of the Fallen as a dark-fantasy action RPG set across two parallel realms: the world of the living and the world of the dead. It highlights fast, challenging tactical combat, a broad selection of weapons and magic, and optional online co-op. The page confirms availability on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Its setting and combat focus make it a useful action-RPG option, but its official description does not suggest a close equivalent to Shan’s emotionally charged sibling duels.

Consider it if you are open to a new release and want an open-world setting with a day-and-night premise and consequential choices. The available description does not establish that its combat or narrative structure matches At Fate’s End.
