Start with your display’s native resolution and highest usable refresh rate, then adjust specific effects only if you need steadier performance or a clearer view. Treat the settings below as a starting point—not a benchmarked guarantee—and check your in-game menu after updates because options can change.
Start with a clear, stable baseline
Hone’s October 1, 2026 settings guide uses Valve’s English settings descriptions and tooltips extracted September 30, after the City Never Sleeps update. It presents a supported starting profile, not a profile benchmarked across systems. The practical baseline is to preserve the display’s output quality first, then make targeted changes if play is unstable.

- Resolution: use your monitor’s native resolution to keep the output image clear.
- Refresh rate: select the highest rate your display can use reliably. This does not guarantee a particular frame rate.
- Scaling: begin at 1x. If you need rendering headroom, try an available 1.5x mode; choices depend on your hardware and game build.
- Graphics API: keep whichever option works better on your system. The available guidance does not establish a universal DirectX 11 or Vulkan winner.
Hone’s guide reports that Valve’s September 29, 2026 City Never Sleeps update included Source 2 engine-code updates and rendering-performance improvements. Those release-note details are reported by a secondary source; they are not a promise that every system will run faster. Hone’s Deadlock settings guide
Which graphics settings should you lower for FPS?
If frame stability is the problem, reduce specific effects before lowering the entire output image. Hone suggests the following performance-oriented starting profile, but it has not been established as optimal for every PC.
#1 Best Overall
- 【INTEGRATED SPEAKERS】Whether you're at work or in the midst of an intense gaming session, our built-in speakers provide rich and seamless audio, all while keeping your desk clutter-free.
- 【EASY ON THE EYES】 Protect your eyes and enhance your comfort with Blue-Light Shift technology. This feature reduces harmful blue light emissions from your screen, helping to alleviate eye strain during long hours of use and promoting healthier viewing habits.
- 【WIDEN YOUR PERSPECTIVE】Our sleek minimal bezel design ensures undivided attention. The nearly bezel-free display seamlessly connects in a dual monitor arrangement, delivering an unobstructed view that lets you focus on more at once, completely distraction-free.
| Setting | Starting point | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Shadows | Low | May reduce visual detail; check whether you still retain useful shadow cues. |
| Fog | Low | Compare distant and nearby target readability in the same kind of scene. |
| Screen Space Ambient Occlusion | Off | Try disabling it if you need headroom, then judge the image and stability yourself. |
| Textures | Medium | A moderate starting point in Hone’s profile; the right choice depends on your system. |
| Bloom and area lights | Off in the performance-oriented profile | Optional visual tradeoffs. The tracked tooltips describe their costs as small, so restore them if you prefer their appearance and performance allows. |
| Depth of field | Personal preference | The referenced current tooltip describes it as a preference; Hone reports negligible cost and no current gameplay-performance effect. |
Do not chase a universal FPS number without considering your hardware and the scene. Likewise, there is no source-supported fixed frame cap for everyone: ProSettings describes choosing a refresh-rate cap or unlimited play according to stability and available headroom. How to test settings without confusing FPS and network problems
- Open Deadlock’s telemetry HUD so you can observe frame rate and network indicators.
- Play a repeatable situation and note both the frame-rate behavior and network state.
- Change only one or two settings, then repeat a comparable situation. Compare stability as well as target and background clarity.
- Keep a change only if it improves your experience. No fixed FPS gain is guaranteed, and a network problem is not evidence that a graphics setting is wrong.
Hone’s October 1, 2026 guide reports that City Never Sleeps added a video-settings preview that temporarily makes the menu transparent to show setting changes. It also reports readability changes and dedicated visual, audio, and control accessibility settings. Confirm that these options appear in your build before relying on them; menu names and availability can shift with patches. iTechGuides’ Deadlock settings guide

- QHD Resolution (2560 x 1440) has 1.7 times the pixel density of Full HD for incredibly detailed pinsharp images
- HDR10 provides brighter highlights and nuanced shadow for added depth - making every scene feel more vivid and realistic
- The 180Hz refresh rate minimizes lag for gameplay with ultra-smooth action. Plus, the 1ms response time helps capture your moves in real-time, allowing you to react fast for gaming precision
- AMD FreeSync reduces choppiness, screen lag and image tearing, ensuring that your fast-paced, complex in-game action is stable with minimal stutter
- Ergonomic stand allows for tilt, pivot and height adjustments to maximize gaming comfort
Find a sensitivity and crosshair that help you aim
Neither sensitivity nor crosshair has a universal best value. ProSettings’ guide, last modified March 5, 2026, treats its recommendations as starting points rather than prescriptions. Choose a sensitivity that lets you make precise adjustments, then pick a crosshair that stands out against the scenes you play in without covering enemies. If either makes tracking or fine corrections harder, change it and reassess in comparable play. ProSettings’ Deadlock settings guide
Recheck settings after updates
Deadlock’s settings and performance advice can age quickly. The reported City Never Sleeps release was published September 29, 2026, and guides based on the following days’ menu descriptions may not match later builds exactly. After a patch, check the current in-game menu for changed labels, newly available options, or altered behavior before applying an old setting list.
