The right choice depends on the exact configuration: the listed range spans 15.3-, 16-, and 18-inch displays, with different processor, graphics, and panel options. Treat Dell’s “up to” specifications as top configuration options, not features guaranteed in every SKU.
How many Dell gaming laptops are available in 2026?
Dell’s current US category identifies five Alienware laptop families: Alienware 15, Alienware 16 Aurora, Alienware 16X Aurora, Alienware 16 Area-51, and Alienware 18 Area-51. Dell’s UK results also show configurable examples within a smaller set of families. The evidence does not establish 14 distinct current models; configurations of one family should not be counted as separate laptop models. Dell announced at CES 2026 that it planned to double its Alienware laptop lineup, but that announcement does not confirm 14 distinct models currently available to buy. Dell’s US gaming category and its UK category are market-specific; availability and configurations can differ. Dell’s CES 2026 announcement describes its planned expansion.
Which Dell gaming laptop family should you compare?
This comparison uses Dell’s published US specifications, not independent testing. It can help narrow the model family, but it cannot establish game frame rates, cooling performance, fan noise, battery life while gaming, or overall value.
| Model family | Published display information | Published processor and graphics options | Other stated features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alienware 15 | 15.3-inch WUXGA, 165 Hz, 300 nits | Intel Core Series 2 or AMD Ryzen 200 Series; up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU | Two listed model identifiers, DA15260 and DA15265, represent configurations of the Alienware 15 family. |
| Alienware 16 Aurora | 16-inch WQXGA, 120 Hz, 300 nits | Intel Core Processors (Series 2); up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU | Dell describes a Cryo-Chamber airflow design. |
| Alienware 16X Aurora | Up to 240 Hz anti-glare OLED option | Up to Intel Core Ultra Plus processors; NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Series Laptop Graphics | Specific processor and GPU depend on configuration. |
| Alienware 16 Area-51 | Up to 240 Hz anti-glare OLED option | Up to Intel Core Ultra Plus processors; NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Series Laptop Graphics | Up to 240 W total gaming power, according to Dell. |
| Alienware 18 Area-51 | 18-inch class; other display figures not stated in the retrieved US listing | Up to Intel Core Ultra Plus processors; NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Series Laptop Graphics | Up to 280 W total gaming power and dual Thunderbolt 5 Type-C ports, according to Dell. |
Specifications above are from Dell’s US Alienware listings. “Up to” describes an available top option, not the specification of every configuration. Dell’s wattage figures are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements of game performance.

Alienware 15: start with the smaller display class
The Alienware 15 is the only family in these listings with a 15.3-inch display. Dell lists a 165 Hz WUXGA panel at 300 nits and configurations using either Intel Core Series 2 or AMD Ryzen 200 Series processors, with graphics options up to an RTX 5060 Laptop GPU. Confirm the processor, GPU, memory, storage, and display on the exact SKU before comparing prices; the family name alone does not identify the configuration.
Alienware 16 Aurora: a 16-inch option with a 120 Hz listing
Dell lists the 16-inch Aurora with a WQXGA 120 Hz display rated at 300 nits, Intel Core Series 2 processors, and graphics options up to an RTX 5070 Laptop GPU. Dell also highlights its Cryo-Chamber airflow design. Those published details do not show how it compares with other models in real-game performance or noise.

Alienware 16X Aurora: consider it for the OLED option
Dell lists up to Intel Core Ultra Plus processors, RTX 50 Series Laptop Graphics, and an anti-glare OLED option with a refresh rate up to 240 Hz. These are configuration-dependent maximums. Verify that the specific product listing includes the panel and graphics option you want.
Alienware 16 Area-51: check the configuration and power claim
Dell lists the 16 Area-51 with up to Intel Core Ultra Plus processors, RTX 50 Series Laptop Graphics, and an anti-glare OLED option up to 240 Hz. Dell also specifies up to 240 W total gaming power. That is a manufacturer-published specification; it is not a direct benchmark or guarantee of a particular frame rate.

Alienware 18 Area-51: choose the largest listed screen class
The 18 Area-51 is the largest family in the listed range. Dell specifies up to 280 W total gaming power and dual Thunderbolt 5 Type-C ports, alongside up to Intel Core Ultra Plus processors and RTX 50 Series Laptop Graphics. The source listing does not provide comparable weight figures, so it is not enough to quantify how much less portable it is than the 15- or 16-inch families.
How to choose the right configuration
- Set your screen preference. Choose between the listed 15.3-inch Alienware 15, 16-inch families, and 18-inch Area-51. Dell’s current US listings give specific size, resolution, and refresh-rate figures for the Alienware 15 and 16 Aurora, and identify an OLED option up to 240 Hz for the 16X Aurora and 16 Area-51.
- Compare the exact graphics option. The Alienware 15 listing specifies graphics up to RTX 5060 Laptop GPU; the 16 Aurora listing goes up to RTX 5070 Laptop GPU. The other families list RTX 50 Series Laptop Graphics without a specific maximum GPU model in the retrieved category results. Do not infer that every configuration includes the highest option.
- Check the processor and other components on the SKU. The Alienware 15 has Intel and AMD configurations; other listed families specify Intel processor options. Compare memory and storage on the actual product pages, since the family-level listings do not establish one universal configuration.
- Match the market and live price. Dell’s US and UK listings show different configurations and currencies. Use the page for the country where you plan to buy, and check the current price and included components on the exact SKU; a starting price is volatile and does not describe every configuration.
- Use independent, configuration-matched reviews for performance decisions. Dell’s listing details do not establish comparative frame rates, thermals, acoustics, gaming battery runtime, or value. Those judgments require testing of the specific processor, graphics, display, and power configuration being considered.
What the available specifications do—and do not—tell you
Dell’s listings are useful for confirming product-family names and advertised options. They do not make it possible to rank these families by gaming performance, cooling, noise, battery life, or portability. The company’s OLED and refresh-rate specifications identify panel options, but do not establish independent image-quality results. Likewise, advertised total gaming power is not a substitute for a configuration-matched benchmark.

For UK shoppers, Dell’s results include configurable Alienware 16 Aurora and 16X Aurora examples with different processors, GPUs, memory, storage, screens, and pound prices. Those examples are not interchangeable with US configurations or prices. Consult the UK listings for that market rather than carrying a UK configuration into a US comparison.
