Best FiveM VPS Hosting for Large Roleplay Servers (2026)

The best FiveM VPS for a large roleplay server depends on sustained CPU performance, RAM headroom, storage latency, routing and recovery—not a promised player count. Compare current OVHcloud US tiers with Vultr and Hetzner, then load-test your real framework before scaling.

For a large FiveM roleplay server, choose a VPS for sustained CPU performance, sufficient RAM headroom, NVMe storage, nearby network regions, DDoS mitigation, and a backup plan—not a provider’s advertised player count. A practical shortlist is OVHcloud US VPS, Vultr high-frequency compute, and Hetzner Cloud. Start with a staged copy of your actual framework, scripts, assets, and database, then increase capacity only after measuring per-tick CPU time, memory, disk latency, database latency, and network use.

There is no honest “200-player VPS” specification. One heavily scripted roleplay framework can overload a machine that handles a much lighter server comfortably. The recommendations and prices below were checked on ; cloud inventories and prices can change.

Quick comparison

These services can all run a self-managed FiveM server, but they suit different operating styles. The table records only figures established on the providers’ current pages; where a live configurator is required, verify the exact plan before ordering.

Provider and example Published resources Price and term Operational features Best fit
OVHcloud US VPS-1 2 vCores, 4 GB RAM, 40 GB NVMe $4.54/month on the US page, checked October 15, 2026; tax treatment and renewal should be confirmed at checkout Unlimited traffic, automatic anti-DDoS, daily backups, one-click scaling, 99.9% SLA Small staging server or a very light production workload
OVHcloud US VPS-2 4 vCores, 8 GB RAM $8.50/month on the same US listing and date Same published VPS features; storage capacity is not stated in the supplied listing A starting point for load testing a modest, scripted server
OVHcloud US VPS-3 6 vCores, 12 GB RAM $12.32/month on the same US listing and date Unlimited traffic, anti-DDoS, daily backups, scaling and 99.9% SLA More RAM and CPU headroom before moving to a larger tier
OVHcloud US VPS-4 8 vCores, 24 GB RAM $23.37/month on the same US listing and date Unlimited traffic, anti-DDoS, daily backups, one-click scaling and 99.9% SLA A larger single-VPS test target for demanding roleplay workloads
Vultr high-frequency or regular compute Exact vCPU, RAM, storage, transfer and regional availability vary by live plan Use the current hourly and monthly figures on the official pricing page; no fixed figure is stated here Choose the region and compute class in the live catalog Operators who need regional choice and a higher-frequency CPU option
Hetzner Cloud Exact configurations, traffic allowance and IPv4 charges depend on current location and inventory Use the live cloud catalog; confirm US availability before selecting a US player base Location-specific plans and traffic policies Cost-conscious administrators comfortable checking inventory and self-managing Linux

OVHcloud’s optional premium backup starts at $1.40 per month and snapshots at $0.40 per month on the cited US page. Those add-ons are separate from the listed VPS prices.

What a large FiveM server actually needs

Sustained CPU performance beats a large vCPU number

FiveM workloads are sensitive to how quickly the server can process framework logic, resource scripts, entity updates and database callbacks. A plan advertising more vCPUs is not automatically faster if its underlying cores are slower or heavily contended. Measure sustained CPU use during busy scenes, not just an idle boot.

  • Track per-tick CPU time and frame time while players perform the busiest activities in your framework.
  • Watch for periodic spikes caused by scheduled jobs, inventories, dispatch systems, NPCs or large scripts.
  • Leave headroom for operating-system work, monitoring, database activity and short bursts; a machine that runs at its limit during normal play has no safe peak capacity.

RAM must include every service

Memory is shared by FXServer, the database, caches, monitoring agents, the operating system and any web or administration panel. A player-count label cannot account for your resource pack. Treat the figures in the comparison table as capacity to test, not promises of a particular population.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Use a staging copy to measure resident memory after the server has loaded all resources and after a representative session. Check swap activity as well as nominal RAM: sustained swapping usually shows that the plan is undersized or that a process is leaking memory. If you run the database on the same VPS, include its working set and connection bursts in the measurement.

NVMe helps I/O, but cannot repair a weak CPU

NVMe storage reduces latency for resource files, logs, database files and backups created locally. It does not compensate for slow compute, CPU contention, poor routing or an overloaded database. Keep free space for logs, temporary files and snapshots; a nearly full volume can turn an otherwise adequate server into an operational problem.

How to size for 100 or 200 players without guessing

FiveM does not publish a universal RAM or VPS-size conversion for “100 players” or “200 players.” The same population can produce radically different load depending on OneSync configuration, framework, scripts, streamed assets, entity counts and database queries. Use player counts as a test target, never as a hardware guarantee.

A repeatable sizing process

  1. Clone production in staging. Copy the framework, resource versions, configuration, database schema and representative data. Do not test an empty server and extrapolate.
  2. Generate the target workload. Reproduce peak roleplay activities, not only idle connections. Include login bursts, inventory operations, police or emergency systems, vehicles, interiors and scheduled jobs that are normal for your community.
  3. Measure the whole stack. Record per-tick CPU time, frame time, resident RAM, swap, disk latency, database latency, packet loss and network saturation. Record the busiest five- and fifteen-minute windows, not only averages.
  4. Add headroom. Select the next size when peaks leave little margin or when swap and queueing appear. Headroom absorbs events such as reconnect waves, resource restarts and database maintenance.
  5. Repeat after every major change. A new framework release, map, vehicle pack or script can change the bottleneck. Keep a dated baseline so you can identify regressions.

Interpreting a failed test

  • High CPU with low RAM use points toward faster or less-contended cores, script optimization, or a larger compute class.
  • High RAM and swap with moderate CPU use points toward more memory or moving the database and ancillary services elsewhere.
  • High disk latency during saves or queries suggests storage pressure, a busy database, insufficient free space or a plan with weaker I/O.
  • Normal server metrics but poor player experience from one geography suggests routing or distance rather than a raw CPU shortage.

Provider-by-provider guidance

OVHcloud US VPS

The US catalog is the clearest published ladder in this shortlist. VPS-1 lists 2 vCores, 4 GB RAM and 40 GB NVMe at $4.54 per month; VPS-2 lists 4 vCores and 8 GB at $8.50; VPS-3 lists 6 vCores and 12 GB at $12.32; and VPS-4 lists 8 vCores and 24 GB at $23.37. These are the page’s US prices checked October 15, 2026, not a guarantee of future renewal pricing or a particular tax-inclusive total.

The same page states unlimited traffic, automatic anti-DDoS, daily backups, one-click scaling and a 99.9% SLA. Premium backup and snapshots are priced separately as noted above. Confirm what the included daily backup covers, how long it is retained, and whether restoration meets your recovery-time requirement before treating it as your only backup.

Vultr compute

Vultr’s official pricing page lists regular and high-frequency compute options with plan-specific vCPU, RAM, storage, transfer, regions and hourly or monthly charges. Because those values and inventory are live, select a region near your players, compare the high-frequency class with regular compute, and copy the current total—including storage, transfer and IPv4-related charges—into your budget at purchase time.

Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced + Great White Shark Card - PC [Online Game Code]
  • Experience entertainment blockbusters Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online — now upgraded for a new generation with stunning visuals, faster loading, 3D audio, and more, plus exclusive content for GTA Online players.
  • Welcome to Los Santos - When a young street hustler, a retired bank robber, and a terrifying psychopath find themselves entangled with some of the most frightening and deranged elements of the criminal underworld, the U.S. government, and the entertainment industry, they must pull off a series of dangerous heists to survive in a ruthless city in which they can trust nobody — least of all each other. Current PC players can transfer both GTAV Story Mode progress and GTA Online characters and progression with a one-time migration from the legacy version of GTAV to GTAV Enhanced.
  • Stunning Visuals - Enhanced levels of fidelity and performance with new graphics modes including ray tracing features such as ambient occlusion and global illumination, ray traced shadows and reflections, support for AMD FSR and NVIDIA DLSS, and more.*
  • Faster Loading - Quicker access to the action as the world of Los Santos and Blaine County load in faster than ever before by using SSD and DirectStorage on supported devices.
  • Immersive Controls - Feel new levels of responsiveness with dynamic resistance via the Adaptive Triggers on the DualSense wireless controller, from directional damage to weather effects, rough road surfaces to explosions, and much more.*

A high-frequency class can be a sensible test when your metrics show CPU time is the bottleneck, but verify sustained performance with your own workload. A geographically close region with slightly less nominal capacity may produce a better experience than a distant region with more vCPUs.

Hetzner Cloud

Hetzner’s cloud catalog changes by location and inventory. Check the current configuration, included traffic, storage, IPv4 charge and availability in the location that serves your players. Confirm US inventory before designing around a US deployment; a European location may be unsuitable for a primarily North American community because latency and routing are part of the player experience.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Hetzner is a general cloud VPS environment, so plan to administer the operating system, firewall, updates, FiveM process and backups yourself. That control can reduce cost, but it transfers operational work to your team.

VPS or dedicated server?

A VPS is the right first production target when you need fast provisioning, the ability to scale a tier, and a manageable monthly commitment. It also makes staging and rollback easier. The trade-off is shared underlying hardware: even when your virtual allocation is fixed, neighboring workloads and the provider’s scheduling can affect consistency.

  • This Certified Refurbished product is tested and certified to look and work like new. The refurbishing process includes functionality testing, basic cleaning, inspection, and repackaging. The product ships with all relevant accessories, a minimum 90-day warranty, and may arrive in a generic box.

A dedicated server removes that noisy-neighbor variable and can provide predictable all-core performance, but it usually costs more, has fewer instant resize options and requires planning capacity before you know your real workload. Consider dedicated hardware when repeated, realistic tests show that your chosen VPS tier is CPU-contended, when latency-sensitive scripts need consistently low frame times, or when you need more local storage and memory than the VPS catalog offers. Do not switch solely because a server has a high advertised player count.

Deployment path for a new VPS

FiveM’s official “Setting Up a Server” documentation covers obtaining server artifacts, creating the server and using txAdmin. Follow that guide for the current installation sequence rather than relying on an old image or tutorial.

  1. Select the region and operating system. Choose the location closest to the majority of players and a supported OS you can patch and administer.
  2. Provision the VPS and secure access. Use key-based administration where available, remove or disable unused services, apply security updates, and restrict management ports to trusted addresses.
  3. Install the current server artifacts and txAdmin. Follow the official documentation, then create a separate staging instance so updates and resource changes are tested before production.
  4. Place the database deliberately. A local database minimizes network hops but consumes the same CPU, RAM and storage. A separate database host can isolate contention; measure latency before choosing.
  5. Load resources in stages. Start with the framework, add major resource groups one at a time, and record CPU, RAM, disk and database changes after each addition.
  6. Run a controlled load test. Test reconnects, scheduled jobs, peak scenes and a full resource restart. Keep the results with the configuration and date.
  7. Open production access only after recovery works. Verify that you can restore the database and resources, rotate credentials, and rebuild the instance from documented steps.

Network, latency and DDoS considerations

Place the VPS near the largest concentration of players, then test routes from the major ISPs your community uses. Geographic distance is only a proxy; peering and congestion can make two nearby regions perform differently. During testing, distinguish server frame-time problems from packet loss or route instability.

DDoS mitigation reduces exposure but is not a complete security design. Keep management interfaces private or allow-listed, use strong credentials, patch the operating system and FiveM artifacts, and monitor unusual connection rates. Ask the provider what traffic is covered, whether mitigation is automatic, and whether an attack can trigger suspension or extra charges.

Backups and recovery that survive a failed VPS

Provider snapshots and daily backups are useful for quick rollback, but they remain tied to the provider account and may not protect against account compromise, accidental deletion or a corrupted database being backed up repeatedly. Keep database dumps and resource archives outside the primary VPS account.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Use an independent object-storage target

An object-storage service such as Backblaze B2 can hold encrypted database dumps and resource archives separately. Calculate the current cost from retained gigabytes, transaction volume and downloads on its pricing page; the total depends on your retention and restore pattern.

Practice restoration

  1. Define how much data you can lose and how quickly the server must return.
  2. Schedule database and resource backups before and after major releases.
  3. Keep multiple restore points, including one known-good version from before a deployment.
  4. Perform a documented restore drill to a clean staging VPS.
  5. Record the credentials, encryption keys and version information needed to make the backup usable.

What to monitor after launch

  • Server health: per-tick CPU time, frame time, process memory and swap.
  • Storage: disk latency, free space, log growth and database volume.
  • Database: query latency, connection counts, slow queries and lock waits.
  • Network: throughput, packet loss, latency by region and saturation during peaks.
  • Reliability: restarts, resource errors, failed backups and restore-test results.

Set alerts on trends, not only hard failures. A gradual rise in frame time or swap is an upgrade signal even if players have not yet reported disconnects.

Common buying mistakes

  • Choosing by player-count marketing: no published count can model your scripts and assets.
  • Counting vCPUs only: sustained per-core performance and contention matter.
  • Ignoring renewal and extras: include tax, backups, snapshots, storage, transfer and IPv4 charges in the recurring total.
  • Running without off-site recovery: a snapshot is not a tested disaster-recovery plan.
  • Deploying far from players: latency and routing can dominate an otherwise healthy server.
  • Testing an empty configuration: benchmark the real framework and peak activities.
  • Leaving no headroom: normal utilization at the ceiling turns every event into an outage risk.

A decision framework

  1. Need the clearest published US ladder? Compare the four OVHcloud US tiers, beginning with a staging plan and moving upward only when measurements require it.
  2. Need to test a CPU-sensitive workload across many regions? Use Vultr’s live catalog and compare high-frequency and regular compute in the regions your players actually use.
  3. Need a general-purpose, cost-conscious cloud VPS? Check Hetzner’s current location inventory and traffic terms, confirming that the required region is available.
  4. Need predictable performance beyond VPS limits? Prove the bottleneck with repeatable tests, then price dedicated hardware against the measured CPU, memory and storage requirement.

Whichever provider you select, keep the configuration reproducible, monitor the real workload and maintain an independent restore path. That process—not a plan name—determines whether a large roleplay server remains responsive as its community grows.
