If you want aerial combat with music worth revisiting afterward, start with ACE COMBAT 7: SKIES UNKNOWN, look to ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE for a newer score and collector edition, or choose Project Wingman for a separately credited soundtrack. These are recommendations by soundtrack identity and listening options—not an objective ranking.
How to choose a flight combat game for its soundtrack
Consider whether you want a score tied to a long-running series, a new entry with a physical music edition, or a standalone soundtrack you can find separately. Access differs: an in-game music feature, a streaming release and a soundtrack sold as downloadable content are not interchangeable.
| Game | Soundtrack appeal | Listening beyond play | Notable extra |
|---|---|---|---|
| ACE COMBAT 7: SKIES UNKNOWN | A gateway to a franchise with official soundtrack releases across multiple entries | Bandai Namco lists official soundtrack releases; formats and regional availability vary | Music Player Mode is listed for the Digital Deluxe Edition |
| ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE | A newer score described by one reviewer as blending a recurring leitmotif, orchestral music, rock choruses and chanting | The main theme “Everflow” was released worldwide for streaming on September 17, 2026 | The official Deluxe Edition page lists two LPs |
| Project Wingman | A distinct score credited to composer Jose Pavli and described on Steam as “orchestral-modern-fantasy” | A downloadable soundtrack is listed on Steam as additional content | The soundtrack listing does not include the base game |
ACE COMBAT 7: SKIES UNKNOWN is a strong starting point
ACE COMBAT 7 suits players who want a narrative-driven flight combat game and a route into a broad official soundtrack catalog. Bandai Namco describes the franchise as a pioneer in the “Flight Shooting Game” genre, and its music catalog includes releases for entries such as ACE COMBAT 2, ACE COMBAT 3 electrosphere, ACE COMBAT 5, ACE COMBAT ZERO, ACE COMBAT 6, ACE COMBAT X, Joint Assault and ACE COMBAT 7. Bandai Namco Game Music’s catalog is useful if you want to explore the series beyond one game.
For music inside the game, Bandai Namco’s official ACE COMBAT 7 page lists Music Player Mode as a feature of the Digital Deluxe Edition. That is an edition-specific feature, not a claim that every version includes it. The official catalog also announced the 19-track ACE COMBAT Original Soundtrack as a worldwide digital download and streaming release for July 1, 2025. Check the release listing for the formats and services relevant to your region.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE offers a newer score and vinyl option
ACE COMBAT 8 is the pick for players interested in the latest entry’s music and a physical collector format. In a PC Gamer review, the score is described as combining a recurring Sotoan hunting-song leitmotif with orchestral passages, rock choruses and chanting. The reviewer also praises how the story, mechanics and music build toward the finale; that is critical opinion, not an objective measure of soundtrack quality.
Bandai Namco Game Music announced that the main theme, “Everflow,” became available for worldwide streaming on September 17, 2026. The same announcement lists two further releases: a 20-track 30th anniversary concert album, released September 19, and a 45-track remastered ACE COMBAT ZERO soundtrack, released September 20, 2026. Both are available by download and streaming. These releases expand the franchise’s official music catalog; they do not establish which score listeners prefer. See Bandai Namco Game Music’s announcement for release details.

The official ACE COMBAT 8 product page lists two LP records among the Deluxe Edition contents. Edition contents and availability can differ by market, so confirm what the local listing includes before buying; a digital music release should not be mistaken for a physical album.
Project Wingman has a separately credited soundtrack
Choose Project Wingman if you want a flight combat game whose music is also presented as a distinct, composer-credited release. Its Steam soundtrack listing names Jose Pavli as both artist and composer and describes the score as “orchestral-modern-fantasy.” The listing includes tracks such as “Calamity,” “Magma Carta” and “Peacekeeper I.”
