PRISM Live Studio is the strongest documented free Android option for playing prerecorded videos in a YouTube Live broadcast. It lets you build a playlist from videos stored on your phone and use that playlist while streaming. However, PRISM’s official guide does not confirm that the playlist repeats continuously, so don’t rely on it for an unattended loop unless you verify repeat behavior in the current app.
Which Android apps fit this use?
The key distinction is between an app that can send a live stream to YouTube and one that can play a local prerecorded video during that stream. The available documentation establishes a local-video playlist workflow for PRISM Live Studio; it does not establish that workflow for Larix Broadcaster.

Set up a prerecorded-video playlist in PRISM
- Install PRISM Live Studio Mobile for Android and prepare the video files in your phone’s media library. PRISM’s Getting Started guide documents YouTube as a streaming destination and video playlist as a My Studio source.
- Open My Studio and create a video playlist. Add the locally stored videos you want to play and arrange their order. PRISM’s Media Playlist guide says the playlist is saved as one item for reuse.
- Connect YouTube as the destination and start the live broadcast using PRISM’s in-app streaming flow. Check the selected destination and stream details before going live.
- Choose the video playlist as the playback source. PRISM documents playback of a video playlist during live streaming. If you want the mix to contain only the video’s audio, turn off the microphone; the guide notes that video or music playback audio can remain in the live mix.
- Check playback before leaving the stream unattended. The documented playlist steps cover selection and ordering, but do not specify continuous repeat behavior. Confirm what happens when the last item ends in your installed version; don’t assume the playlist will restart.
Know PRISM’s playback and background limits
Playback sources
PRISM’s source-usage guide says only one of its playback features—music, video, music playlist, video playlist, or image playlist—can be used at a time. For Android My Studio, it lists one video or one video playlist source. That matters if you intended to combine a video playlist with another playback source. See the Source Usage Limit Guide.
Background broadcasting
To keep PRISM broadcasting while you use another app, its Android guide says to enable the background-broadcast setting and allow display over other apps. Follow the steps in PRISM’s background broadcasting guide. These settings do not guarantee an uninterrupted long stream: battery, heat, Android’s background restrictions, and network stability can still affect a phone broadcast.

When Larix may make sense
YouTube’s encoder guidance lists Larix Broadcaster among mobile encoder options, and the Android listing describes RTMP support. That makes it a candidate for a general mobile streaming setup, but the reviewed documentation does not confirm local prerecorded-video playlist playback or continuous looping in Larix. Its Google Play listing also says the free version includes a watermark and time limit; Premium is shown there at $9.99 per month. Check the current listing for availability and terms in your region before installing.
What to check before relying on a phone stream
- Repeat behavior: Test what happens after the final video ends. A playlist is not proof of an endless loop.
- Audio: Confirm whether you want microphone audio, media audio, or both; mute the microphone if only the video or music should be heard.
- Background operation: Apply PRISM’s background and display-over-other-apps settings if switching away from the app.
- Power, temperature, and connectivity: A phone must remain powered and maintain a stable connection. A settings change alone cannot prevent OS, heat, battery, or network interruptions.
- YouTube rights and rules: Use video and audio you own or are licensed to broadcast, and check YouTube’s current live-stream and copyright rules before going live. An app’s ability to play a file does not grant rights to stream it.
