Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy is the strongest pick if you want a game whose fantasy world is directly inspired by Egyptian mythology. Age of Mythology: Retold is the better fit for strategy, while Assassin’s Creed Origins is primarily a historical-Egypt adventure. Its Curse of the Pharaohs expansion is the more explicitly mythological part of that experience.
This is a short, evidence-based ranking, not a claim that these are the ten best games in the genre. The available support establishes three games and one expansion, but not ten distinct, defensible entries. The order prioritizes how central Egyptian mythology is, then considers gameplay format and the role of mythic figures and creatures.
1. Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy
Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy is the clearest choice for a mythology-first adventure. Its fantasy premise draws directly on ancient Egyptian mythology: Sphinx sets out to stop Set and recover Egypt’s stolen magical crowns, with the Mummy also playable.
It combines third-person action-adventure with combat, stealth, traps, and puzzles. That makes it the best match here for players who want Egyptian myth to shape the world and conflict, rather than simply provide the backdrop. Steam describes it as inspired by ancient Egyptian mythology; check your local storefront for current platform and regional availability.

2. Age of Mythology: Retold
Choose Age of Mythology: Retold if you want Egyptian gods and mythic units in a real-time strategy game rather than a character-led adventure. Its Egyptian pantheon is one of several, alongside Greek, Norse, and Atlantean pantheons; the campaign also visits Egypt and its mysteries of Osiris.
Egyptian mythology is an important part of the game, but it shares the stage with other mythologies. The official Age of Empires page lists purchase options; confirm which editions and platforms are available in your region.

3. Assassin’s Creed Origins
Assassin’s Creed Origins earns a place for its ancient-Egypt setting, not because its main story is a sustained retelling of Egyptian mythology. It is the setting-focused pick for players who want to explore a historical version of Egypt in an action RPG.
Its Discovery Tour offers guided tours curated by historians and Egyptologists, giving players an educational way to explore the setting. For a more overtly mythological experience connected to Origins, see the expansion below.

Why this list has four entries, not ten
A pyramid, mummy, or ancient-Egypt backdrop alone does not establish a meaningful connection to Egyptian mythology. The supported choices above cover three distinct experiences: myth-driven action-adventure, pantheon-based strategy, and a historical setting with a myth-focused expansion. The expansion is counted separately because it offers a distinct mythological experience, but it is not a fourth standalone game.
The ranking is editorial: it gives the greatest weight to mythology’s centrality, then to gameplay format and the role of the mythic cast. It is not based on review counts or a published comparative score. A game inspired by another mythology, such as Greek mythology, does not qualify simply because it resembles a mythology-themed adventure.
