Start with Sifu if you want the closest hand-to-hand kung-fu feel. Choose Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice for demanding deflect timing, Black Myth: Wukong for Chinese action-RPG spectacle, or Devil May Cry 5 for the deepest free-form combo expression. These games do not reproduce Phantom Blade Zero exactly, but each matches a different part of its advertised target: wuxia atmosphere, rapid defense-and-counter exchanges, cinematic finishers, weapon-focused flow, or large-scale single-player action.

Phantom Blade Zero is being presented by S-GAME as a fusion of classic wuxia storytelling and exhilarating action. PlayStation says its battles use motion capture and martial-arts choreographers to capture the spirit and beauty of Chinese kung fu through cinematic action. These descriptions do not verify how the finished game will play, so the recommendations below are based on the combat and tone Phantom Blade Zero is promising, not on a verified final-game comparison.

Which game is most like Phantom Blade Zero?

No single substitute covers every part of Phantom Blade Zero’s pitch. The best overall match depends on what you mean by “like.” Sifu is the nearest match for close-range Chinese martial-arts texture and a fight system built around dodges, parries, strikes, combos and positioning. Sekiro is the clearest choice if the important phrase is “read an attack, deflect it precisely and answer immediately.” Black Myth: Wukong is the strongest parallel for Chinese visual identity, mythic spectacle, varied bosses and a premium action-RPG scale. Devil May Cry 5 is the outlier, but it is the best choice for players who mainly want cinematic presentation, stylish finishers and a very high ceiling for expressive combos.

Game Closest match Combat structure Best for Main difference from Phantom Blade Zero’s advertised direction
Sifu Chinese kung-fu feel and close-range flow Focused third-person brawler with replay and mastery pressure Parries, dodges, environmental positioning and hand-to-hand exchanges More concentrated and brawler-like than a larger action-RPG presentation
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Deflect rhythm and precision Stealth-action adventure with vertical traversal and prosthetic tools Learning attack patterns and winning demanding head-to-head duels Japanese Sengoku setting and a defense-timing identity rather than broad weapon-flow variety
Black Myth: Wukong Chinese action-RPG spectacle and scale Single-player action RPG Mythic presentation, boss variety and a wider progression frame The combat emphasis is distinct from Phantom Blade Zero’s advertised kungfupunk weapon flow
Devil May Cry 5 Expressive cinematic combo action Character-action spectacle fighter with authored missions Improvisation, multiple playable characters and stylish execution Contemporary gothic fantasy rather than wuxia or historical martial-arts authenticity

What Phantom Blade Zero is promising

The useful way to set expectations is to separate confirmed descriptions from assumptions. S-GAME’s Steam listing calls the project “a fusion of classic Wuxia storytelling and exhilarating action” and uses martial-arts, cinematic and fast-paced descriptors. PlayStation describes cutting-edge motion capture and martial-arts choreographers, saying that “Every battle captures the enduring spirit and timeless beauty of Chinese kungfu through cinematic action.” This establishes an intended identity: Chinese wuxia influence, fast exchanges and a deliberately staged visual style.

Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.

  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

It does not establish how the finished game will handle difficulty, exploration, progression, weapon switching, parry windows or boss design. Preview coverage from GamesRadar frames it as a wuxia action game with large boss fights, a substantial weapon collection and a steel-on-steel rhythm. That makes weapon flow and cinematic duels reasonable selection criteria, but not verified measurements of the final release. The four recommendations therefore answer specific parts of the promise instead of claiming that any one game is a one-to-one replacement.

Sifu: the closest hand-to-hand kung-fu match

Why it fits

Sifu is the first game to try when the appeal is the physical language of Chinese kung fu rather than a particular setting or camera flourish. Its Steam description calls it “a realistic third-person brawler with tight Kung Fu combat mechanics and cinematic martial arts action.” The official description specifically centers on dodging, parrying, striking, combos and using the environment to change a fight. Those verbs line up most directly with a reader imagining Phantom Blade Zero as a sequence of close-range exchanges in which defense creates an opening for a decisive counter.

The feel is concentrated. Instead of asking you to manage a broad action-RPG system first, Sifu makes the quality of each encounter the main event. You are hunting the assassins responsible for your family’s death, and the revenge structure gives repeated attempts a clear purpose. The result is a game about learning rooms, opponents and your own timing. That replay-and-mastery pressure is valuable preparation for any game whose marketing emphasizes cinematic martial-arts duels, because it trains you to watch an opponent rather than mash through an animation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Where it differs

Sifu is a focused brawler, not evidence of how Phantom Blade Zero’s larger action-RPG ambitions will work. Its strengths are immediate combat decisions, compact scenarios and the satisfaction of improving through repetition. If you expect extensive traversal, a large weapon collection or a long-form progression structure, it is a narrower substitute. Treat it as a combat study rather than a scale match.

It also emphasizes hand-to-hand kung fu. That makes it less useful if the feature you are waiting for is rapid movement between several weapon types or a sword-on-sword system. The distinction matters: Sifu can reproduce the texture of a martial-arts encounter without reproducing a weapon-driven “kungfupunk” identity.

Choose Sifu if …

  • You want Chinese martial-arts texture before you care about world size.
  • You enjoy learning through repeated attempts and gradually cleaning up a route.
  • You want both parries and evasive movement, with environmental positioning as part of the answer.
  • You prefer a concentrated brawler to a broad role-playing progression system.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice: the best deflect-rhythm training

Why it fits

Sekiro is the strongest recommendation for readers who describe the desired combat as a conversation of attacks and answers. Its official Steam page places you in the role of a one-armed wolf pursuing revenge in late-1500s Sengoku Japan. The game combines stealth, vertical traversal, prosthetic tools and what FromSoftware calls “visceral head to head combat.” Its central appeal is precision: read the incoming move, meet it with the correct timing and keep pressure on the opponent.

That makes Sekiro particularly useful if “parry” is your non-negotiable requirement. The game asks for active defense rather than passive waiting. A successful deflect is not merely damage prevention; it is part of the rhythm that lets you control a duel. Bosses become tests of recognition and composure, so each failure can reveal whether you reacted too early, hesitated or lost the exchange’s tempo. Players waiting for Phantom Blade Zero’s advertised steel-on-steel cadence will find the clearest practice here.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Where it differs

Sekiro is Japanese rather than Chinese, and its late-1500s Sengoku setting is not wuxia. Its identity is also more defense-timing-centric than the broad weapon-switching action-RPG image associated with Phantom Blade Zero. Stealth, vertical traversal and prosthetic tools are major parts of the structure, so not every minute is a choreographed face-to-face duel.

That difference should guide expectations about difficulty. Sekiro and Sifu both demand repeated practice, but Sekiro’s demands are especially concentrated in reading attacks and maintaining deflect rhythm. If you want a forgiving power curve or a menu of alternate weapons that lets you bypass a difficult pattern, this is not the closest fit. If you want to become better at seeing a boss’s next move, it is the most direct choice.

Choose Sekiro if …

  • Your priority is precise deflect timing and close-range boss duels.
  • You enjoy demanding encounters that require repeated attempts.
  • You want exploration with stealth and vertical movement alongside combat.
  • You can accept Japanese historical fantasy in place of Chinese wuxia.

Black Myth: Wukong: the best Chinese action-RPG spectacle

Why it fits

Black Myth: Wukong is the strongest match when the words “Chinese,” “mythic” and “action RPG” matter as much as the individual parry or combo inputs. GamesRadar’s preview identifies it as the closest parallel to Phantom Blade Zero in direction and scale, while describing Phantom Blade Zero as a wuxia action game with large boss fights, a substantial weapon collection and a steel-on-steel rhythm. Wukong therefore belongs near the top of any waiting list built around premium single-player spectacle rather than only hand-to-hand authenticity.

  • Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
  • Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
  • Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
  • What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.

The appeal is breadth. You get a Chinese mythic frame, a succession of visually distinct confrontations and a progression structure that gives the adventure a larger arc than a compact brawler. That combination addresses the reader who wants to feel that every fight belongs to a substantial journey, not just a replayable combat scenario. It is also the recommendation most likely to satisfy someone who wants bosses to function as set pieces while still having an action-RPG context around them.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Where it differs

Wukong is a thematic and scale match, not a control-by-control equivalent. Its combat emphasis is distinct from Phantom Blade Zero’s advertised kungfupunk weapon flow, so do not buy it expecting the same rapid transitions between martial-arts weapons or the same steel-on-steel cadence. The fact that both games draw on Chinese cultural material does not make their moment-to-moment systems interchangeable.

It is also less suitable than Sifu if your test is specifically close-range kung-fu texture, and less suitable than Sekiro if your test is pure deflect discipline. Choose it when the complete package—mythic presentation, boss variety, exploration and action-RPG progression—outweighs matching one defensive mechanic.

Choose Black Myth: Wukong if …

  • You want Chinese mythic spectacle in a substantial single-player action-RPG frame.
  • Large bosses and visual variety matter more than reproducing a particular parry window.
  • You want more exploration and progression than a focused brawler normally provides.
  • You are comfortable with a distinct combat identity rather than a direct Phantom Blade Zero substitute.

Devil May Cry 5: the best expressive combo spectacle

Why it fits

Devil May Cry 5 is the least direct martial-arts recommendation, but it answers a different interpretation of the request exceptionally well. Capcom’s Steam listing presents it as an action game tagged hack-and-slash, character action and spectacle fighter. Its value is not wuxia authenticity; it is the freedom to build stylish sequences, switch approaches between multiple playable characters and pursue a high ceiling for execution.

If the phrase that hooked you was “cinematic action,” DMC5 deserves consideration. The game rewards players who care about how a fight looks as well as whether it ends successfully. Improvisational combos, deliberate style and a broad spectacle ceiling make it a strong bridge for someone who wants to choreograph their own finishers rather than simply survive an encounter. It also provides a useful contrast with Sekiro: where Sekiro makes defense timing the center of the duel, DMC5 places more weight on offense, combo control and expression.

Where it differs

The setting is contemporary gothic fantasy, not Chinese wuxia, and its combat is primarily offensive. It should not be presented as a replacement for kung-fu texture, Chinese cultural identity or a realistic sword duel. Its authored missions also differ from the exploration emphasis found in Sekiro and the action-RPG frame associated with Wukong. The recommendation is about stylish, cinematic combat language, not historical or martial-arts fidelity.

Choose Devil May Cry 5 if …

  • You value improvisational combos and a high execution ceiling.
  • You want multiple playable characters with different expressive possibilities.
  • You care more about spectacle-fighter depth than wuxia setting or realistic kung-fu.
  • You prefer offense and combo control to a defense-first duel system.

How the combat priorities compare

Defense rhythm

The four games divide cleanly by defensive emphasis. Sekiro is the specialist: precise deflects and attack recognition define its most demanding encounters. Sifu mixes parries with dodges, strikes and environmental positioning, making defense one part of a broader close-range toolkit. DMC5 is primarily offensive, so its challenge is maintaining control over an expressive sequence rather than waiting for a single perfect deflect. Wukong sits in the action-RPG middle ground: its major match is spectacle and progression, not a claim to Phantom Blade Zero’s exact defense model.

Combat structure

Sifu is a focused brawler built around replay and mastery pressure. Sekiro is a stealth-action adventure in which traversal, vertical movement and prosthetic tools surround the duels. Wukong uses the broader action-RPG frame, with mythic presentation, boss variety and progression. DMC5 is a spectacle fighter organized around authored missions and character-driven combat expression. Pick the structure you will enjoy between fights, not only the screenshots that sell the combat.

Cultural and visual identity

Sifu and Wukong are the most useful choices for readers seeking Chinese settings or mythic references, although they express that identity differently: Sifu through a grounded kung-fu brawler and Wukong through mythic action-RPG spectacle. Sekiro’s reference point is Sengoku Japan. DMC5 uses contemporary gothic fantasy. This distinction is important because fast animation alone does not create wuxia atmosphere.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Difficulty and mastery

Sekiro and Sifu are the clearest mastery tests. Both ask you to improve through repetition rather than simply accumulate power. DMC5 rewards execution and style, so mastery can mean making a combo more ambitious or controlled. Wukong offers the broadest action-RPG progression frame among these recommendations, which may suit players who want growth systems around their combat rather than a pure timing examination.

Exploration and scope

Sekiro and Wukong provide larger traversal or exploration spaces. Sifu concentrates on replayable combat scenarios, making route improvement and encounter knowledge central. DMC5 emphasizes authored missions and combat performance. If you want to roam between set pieces while waiting for Phantom Blade Zero, start with Sekiro or Wukong; if you want to drill fights, choose Sifu; if you want to perform them, choose DMC5.

A practical decision guide

  1. Put Chinese kung-fu first: choose Sifu. It is the closest hand-to-hand match and the most direct fit for parries, dodges, strikes and environmental positioning.
  2. Put deflect timing first: choose Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Its head-to-head combat is the best preparation for reading attacks and answering with precision.
  3. Put Chinese spectacle and scale first: choose Black Myth: Wukong. It gives you mythic presentation, varied bosses and an action-RPG journey, while keeping its distinct combat identity.
  4. Put combo expression first: choose Devil May Cry 5. It is the right answer when cinematic style and improvisation matter more than wuxia authenticity.
  5. Want a two-game pairing: combine Sifu with Wukong for grounded kung-fu plus Chinese action-RPG spectacle, or combine Sekiro with DMC5 for defense precision plus offensive expression.

What each game can and cannot prepare you for

Sifu can prepare your eye for close-range spacing, parry-or-dodge decisions and the discipline of replaying an encounter until the movement becomes deliberate. It cannot confirm how Phantom Blade Zero will handle a large weapon roster or long-form progression.

Sekiro can prepare you for the mental rhythm of steel meeting steel: recognize, deflect and keep the exchange under control. It cannot provide Chinese wuxia context, and its defense-centric identity may not represent a broader weapon-flow system.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Wukong can prepare you for a Chinese mythic action-RPG presentation with bosses that function as major events in a larger journey. It cannot establish that Phantom Blade Zero will use the same progression, abilities or combat emphasis.

DMC5 can prepare you to value timing, spacing and visual expression as parts of a successful action sequence. It cannot stand in for Chinese martial-arts texture, a realistic kung-fu presentation or a defense-first duel.

Bottom line

Buy or play Sifu first for the closest overall martial-arts feel. Choose Sekiro when the specific fantasy is perfect deflects and demanding duels; choose Black Myth: Wukong when the fantasy is Chinese action-RPG spectacle; choose Devil May Cry 5 when the fantasy is stylish, improvised combo performance. Phantom Blade Zero’s final combat, progression and scale remain to be verified, so these are deliberately component-by-component matches rather than promises that any substitute plays identically.
