Galactic Racer is scheduled to launch on October 6, 2026, so these are alternatives to consider while it remains unreleased.
What to expect from Star Wars: Galactic Racer
StarWars.com describes Star Wars: Galactic Racer as a high-stakes reinvention of racing in the lawless Outer Rim. Its announcement lists PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with a worldwide release scheduled for October 6, 2026. The teaser shows landspeeders and speeder bikes racing through locations including Jakku and Ando Prime.
Later announcements describe a runs-based racing adventure with Campaign, Scenario, and Arcade modes. The gameplay reveal names Sentinel One, Jakku, Ando Prime, and Lantaana among its race locations. Lucasfilm Games executive producer Craig Derrick said the goal is a racing experience that is “cinematic, skill-driven, and unmistakably Star Wars.” Those details make the game’s particular appeal clear: it combines arcade racing with Star Wars vehicles, places, and atmosphere.
Best alternatives to Star Wars: Galactic Racer
Redout 2: for modern anti-gravity speed
Redout 2 is the closest fit if you mainly want fast futuristic arcade racing rather than Star Wars scenery. Nintendo’s official listing for the Switch version presents it as a tribute to classic arcade racers and to anti-gravity racing associated with WipEout and F-Zero. Its focus is hovership racing, with customization and a high skill ceiling.

Choose it if: the draw is a dedicated anti-gravity racer with lots of career events, customizable craft, and online competition—not a licensed Star Wars setting.

WipEout Omega Collection: for a substantial PS4 collection

Which one should you choose?
- For Star Wars vehicles and settings: wait for Galactic Racer if you want its specific Outer Rim fantasy; it is the only game here announced with that setting.
- For a current anti-gravity racer: look at Redout 2, especially if career events, craft customization, and online play matter to you.
- For a bigger PS4 package: consider WipEout Omega Collection if you can locate it, and want its combined content, local split-screen, and online races.
