Secretlab Titan Evo 2022: best overall

Choose it if: you want a conventional gaming chair with strong all-round adjustment, several sizes and upholstery choices, and a large selection of colours and editions.

Avoid it if: you want a cool, office-like mesh chair, a very soft cushion, or a completely flat seat for sitting cross-legged.

The Titan Evo’s appeal is balance. It combines four-way adjustable lumbar support, a substantial build, straightforward assembly and a maximum backrest recline of 165 degrees. Its published maximum user weight is 290 lb / 131 kg and its warranty is listed as five years. The configuration range is useful, but special editions and upgraded materials can raise the price significantly.

The trade-off is a firm seat and a racing-inspired shape. Side bolsters can restrict people who move around frequently or sit cross-legged. A wide-looking chair can also have less usable seat area than its external dimensions suggest. Check the manufacturer’s size guidance and the lowest seat setting against your desk before ordering.

Corsair TC100 Relaxed: best budget option

Choose it if: you want a lower-cost entry into gaming chairs and prefer a more relaxed seat than an aggressively narrow bucket design.

Avoid it if: you need highly polished mechanisms, premium materials, or completely trouble-free assembly.

TechRadar describes the TC100 Relaxed as relatively comfortable for its category, less restrictive than many racing-style chairs, and more understated than much of the gaming-chair market. Its cushioning and shape make it a reasonable budget starting point, with TechRadar citing accommodation around 6 ft 2 in / 188 cm and 264 lb / 120 kg.

Assembly can be frustrating, and a lower price normally means compromises in materials, mechanism refinement or adjustment range. Treat the cited size figures as a starting point, not a substitute for Corsair’s current regional specifications. Define “budget” for your market before comparing it with chairs whose prices vary considerably by upholstery and sale.

Herman Miller x Logitech Embody: best premium chair

Choose it if: you want an office-style chair for work and gaming, can justify a very high price, and value seat-depth adjustment and back support over a headrest.

Avoid it if: you require a headrest, want a deep gaming recline, or have a strict budget.

The Embody is fundamentally an office chair adapted for gaming, not a racing seat with office branding. TechRadar lists seat-height and seat-depth adjustment, arm adjustment, tilt controls and BackFit adjustment. Its published maximum user weight is 300 lb / 136 kg, its listed backrest range is 91–105 degrees, and its warranty is listed as 12 years.

That range illustrates a different philosophy from the Titan Evo: the Embody is designed around supported upright work rather than an extreme recline. TechRadar praised its comfort and construction but noted the price, lack of a headrest and a learning curve for some controls. A long warranty is valuable, but read the current regional terms to see which components and uses are covered.

Razer Fujin Pro: best mesh gaming chair

Choose it if: airflow, office-compatible styling and broad adjustment matter more than plush foam.

Avoid it if: you are shorter than its stated range, prefer a cushioned seat, need guaranteed stock, or expect every component to have the same warranty period.

The Fujin Pro uses mesh, an aluminum frame and aluminum base, and includes height- and depth-adjustable lumbar support, 4D padded armrests and an adjustable headrest. Razer lists a maximum user weight of 300 lb / 136 kg and a recommended height range of 67–79 inches / 170–200 cm.

Mesh can be a major advantage in a warm room, but its feel depends on tension, seat-pan design and edge pressure. Razer’s warranty is component-specific: up to five years for the frame, mechanisms and armrests, but up to one year for the mesh backing and seat pan. The RazerStore product page also states a 14-day risk-free return for direct purchases; confirm the terms for your country and seller.

Choose it if: standard gaming chairs feel narrow or restrictive and you have enough room for a large, heavy chair.

Avoid it if: your desk, doorway or floor space is tight, or you are buying solely because a product is labelled “XL.”

The Kaiser 3 XL is TechRadar’s larger-user pick, with a wider overall design, multiple adjustments and several finishes. But “XL” is not a measurement. Compare internal usable seat width—not just the chair’s external width—along with seat depth, seat height, backrest height and the manufacturer’s load rating.

Also measure the route into the room and the clearance beneath the desk. A large chair may have an impressive weight rating while still being too short, too shallow or too deep for a particular user. Check the current AndaSeat page for the exact regional model and warranty before ordering.

Secretlab Atlas: best office-style gaming chair

Choose it if: you share a room between gaming and work and want a restrained task-chair appearance instead of racing-seat styling.

Avoid it if: you are around 6 ft 2 in / 188 cm or taller, want a deep gaming recline, or need maximum seat-height flexibility.

TechRadar found the Atlas comfortable and supportive, with an easy build process and a design suited to home offices. Its major limitation is seat height: TechRadar warns that users around 6 ft 2 in / 188 cm or taller may feel hunched even at the maximum setting.

This is a useful reminder that “office-style” does not mean universally ergonomic. Compare the Atlas with ordinary ergonomic office chairs, check its lowest and highest usable positions, and ensure the armrests can clear your desk.

Gaming chair or office chair?

A gaming chair is not inherently better than an office chair, and an office chair is not automatically healthier. Racing-style models usually offer stronger gaming aesthetics, deep recline, bolsters, pillows and multiple finishes. Office chairs more often prioritise breathable materials, seat-depth adjustment, dynamic movement and restrained styling.

Choose the category that matches how you sit. A gamer who reclines for controller play or media may prefer the Titan Evo. Someone who works at a keyboard for most of the day may benefit more from an Embody, Aeron or another conventional ergonomic chair. An office chair can be excellent for gaming if it supports your posture and fits your desk.

Neither chair category can correct an unsuitable desk height, poorly positioned monitor, static posture or excessive sitting time. General workplace ergonomics guidance is available from OSHA. Persistent pain, numbness, weakness or other symptoms require professional medical advice rather than a product purchase.

What makes a chair genuinely good?

Judge these characteristics separately instead of reducing everything to “comfort”:

• Seat fit: usable width and depth matter more than external dimensions. The front edge should not press behind your knees, and bolsters should not force your hips into one position.
• Backrest shape: a supportive contour should still permit natural movement. Aggressive bucket shapes can feel secure but restrictive.
• Lumbar support: distinguish adjustable built-in support from a fixed cushion or pillow. It should contact the lower back, not push into the pelvis.
• Cushioning: softer is not automatically better for long sessions. Pressure distribution and personal preference matter.
• Armrests: check height, width, depth and pivot range, plus whether they fit under the desk. Four-dimensional arms cannot compensate for an unsuitable seat.
• Recline and tilt: separate backrest recline from rocking or tilt. Recline helps with controllers, media and posture changes, but is not a substitute for desk positioning.
• Headrest: useful for reclining and resting, but not essential for every upright keyboard-and-mouse setup.
• Base and casters: inspect stability, wheel quality and compatibility with hard floors, carpet or a protective mat.
• Upholstery: compare cooling, cleaning, durability and pet-hair resistance—not just appearance.
• Ownership: investigate assembly, return shipping, restocking conditions, warranty exclusions and replacement parts such as casters, arm pads, covers and cushions.

How to choose by body size

1. Measure your height and weight.
2. Read the manufacturer’s recommended range for the exact size and regional model.
3. Compare usable seat width, seat depth, backrest height and minimum/maximum seat height.
4. With the chair at the correct height, confirm that your feet rest flat and your knees are near a right angle.
5. Check that the lumbar support meets your lower back and that the armrests align with the desk.
6. For an XL model, verify that it is tall and deep enough—not merely wider or rated for more weight.

As a rough screening point, TechRadar suggests that users above approximately 6 ft 2 in / 1.88 m and 200 lb / 90 kg investigate XL models. Do not treat those numbers as a universal threshold. A shorter user may need a smaller chair, while a tall, slim user may need extra seat depth but not an XL seat pan.

Material guide

Fabric

Fabric is usually less sticky and less hot than synthetic leather, and often feels more comfortable during extended sessions. It can absorb spills, trap dust and odours, and collect pet hair. Choose it when comfort and a softer appearance matter more than effortless cleaning.

Leatherette or synthetic leather

Leatherette wipes clean easily and supports a wide range of colours and special editions. It can feel warmer, and surface wear, peeling or cracking are long-term risks that vary substantially by material quality and use. It is a poor match for hot rooms or anyone who dislikes synthetic surfaces.

Mesh

Mesh provides airflow without relying on thick padding and often suits mixed work-and-gaming rooms. It can feel less plush, and seat tension and edge pressure vary significantly between designs. Mesh repairs and replacements may also be more specialised.

How much adjustability is enough?

Prioritise adjustments you will actually use: seat height, seat depth or seat slide, backrest recline, tilt tension or lock, lumbar height and depth, and armrest height, width, depth and pivot. Add a headrest adjustment if you recline often.

A chair with many controls can still fit badly if its seat depth is fixed. Conversely, a simpler chair with a well-shaped seat and the right height range may be more comfortable. The Embody demonstrates the benefit—and complexity—of a broad adjustment system: TechRadar notes that its controls can take time to learn.

Pre-purchase and delivery checklist

• Will the seat edge stay clear of the backs of your knees?
• Can you sit upright with feet flat?
• Does the lumbar support reach your lower back?
• Can the armrests go low enough for the desk and slide beneath it?
• Is the minimum seat height suitable for a shared desk?
• Will the upholstery be too warm in your room?
• Do you prefer firm foam, soft padding or mesh tension?
• Can you return the assembled chair, and who pays return freight?
• Are replacement casters, arm pads, cushions or covers available?
• Does the warranty cover upholstery, foam, mesh, gas lift, mechanisms and armrests—or only selected parts?
• Can the boxed or assembled chair pass through your doors and fit your floor space?

Features not worth prioritising

Do not let RGB lighting, licensed graphics, footrests, massage, heating or extreme recline distract from fit and support. A high number of armrest positions is not useful if the seat is too deep. A high load rating is not proof of ergonomic suitability. Marketing language such as “ergonomic” should be backed by specific adjustments.

TechRadar’s tested alternatives show why: some chairs are too firm, some have weak or absent lumbar support, some are too large, and gimmicky powered features can consume batteries quickly. Spend first on seat fit, useful lumbar adjustment, dependable mechanisms and a warranty you understand.

Alternatives worth considering

Buying new, refurbished or during a sale

For a new chair, use the manufacturer’s official page to confirm the current size, upholstery, price, delivery region, return window and warranty. Record the price as “checked” on the publication date and separate MSRP from a temporary sale price. Stock can change without notice.

Refurbished can be worthwhile for expensive office-style chairs, but confirm who performed the refurbishment, which components were replaced, the remaining warranty, return rights and whether the chair has odour, mesh wear, foam compression or a damaged gas lift. For any chair, a discount is not a bargain if you cannot return it after discovering a poor fit.
