The best gaming keypad for an MMO depends on how you want your left hand to reach abilities and move: choose the Razer Tartarus V2 Pro for its documented MMO keymap examples and profile controls, the Azeron Cyborg II for adjustable finger towers, or the Azeron Keyzen for a mechanical-key feel. If analog key actuation matters more than a thumbstick, compare the separate Razer Tartarus Pro. None is a universal winner; check your hand fit and whether your game supports the input mode you want.
At a glance: which gaming keypad fits your play style?
| Keypad | Documented controls and feel | Consider it if | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Razer Tartarus V2 Pro | Razer lists 31 programmable controls, a TMR thumbstick, three dedicated buttons, an adjustable wrist rest, and configurable keymaps and profiles. | You want a thumbstick and an example MMO layout spanning healing, utility, weapons, professions, mounts, and movement. | Whether the button positions and thumb reach suit your hand; these manufacturer-listed capabilities do not establish comfort for every player. |
| Razer Tartarus Pro | Razer lists 32 programmable keys, analog optical switches, two actions per key at partial and full press, an eight-way thumbpad, and eight quick-toggle profiles. | You want configurable actuation and analog behavior in the keys themselves. | Keep this model distinct from the Tartarus V2 Pro. Razer says analog input applies in controller-supported games. |
| Azeron Cyborg II | Azeron lists 30 mappable keys, a 360-degree Hall Effect thumbstick, and adjustable finger towers. | You want to adjust the key towers around your fingers and use a thumbstick for movement. | Expect a period of adjustment and profile setup; adjustable hardware is not a guarantee of ergonomic benefit for every person. |
| Azeron Keyzen | Azeron lists 32 mappable mechanical keys and a 360-degree Hall Effect thumbstick. | You prefer a more familiar mechanical-key feel while keeping analog thumbstick movement available. | Confirm the current listing’s switch choice and availability before buying. |
How to choose a keypad for MMO controls
Count reachable controls, not just advertised keys
These devices put a compact bank of controls under the left hand while the right hand generally stays on the mouse for aiming. The raw key count is only part of the fit: key placement, thumb controls, and which actions you can reach without shifting your hand all affect whether a layout works for your play. A lower count can be enough if the most important abilities are easy to reach; extra controls help only if you can use them reliably.

Choose the kind of thumb control you will use
Thumbsticks and thumbpads are not interchangeable. The Tartarus V2 Pro and Azeron models listed here have thumbsticks; the Tartarus Pro uses an eight-way thumbpad. If you want continuous movement, prioritize a stick and verify that your game accepts the intended analog input. If you prefer discrete directional presses, a thumbpad or a stick configured to emulate directional keys may be a better match.
Separate analog movement from analog key actuation
Analog movement from a thumbstick is different from a key that responds to how far it is pressed. Razer describes the Tartarus Pro’s analog optical switches as allowing scaling levels of input rather than only on/off input, with two actions available at partial and full press. That feature concerns the keys; it is not the same as the analog thumbstick on other models.

Account for hand fit and adaptation
The Cyborg II’s adjustable finger towers let you alter the physical layout, while the Keyzen offers mechanical keys in a different form. Those distinctions are useful when choosing what to investigate, not proof that one design is more comfortable for everyone. A review of the Cyborg II notes that getting used to it and setting up profiles takes adjustment. Consider how much time you are willing to spend remapping and practicing before settling on a layout.
Will a gaming keypad work with your MMO?
Compatibility depends on the game’s supported inputs and the mode you configure. Azeron says the Cyborg II, Keyzen, and Cyro work with PC games that support keyboard input. It says the thumbstick can provide true 360-degree analog movement when a game accepts mouse and controller input simultaneously; otherwise, the stick can emulate WASD or directional keys. Razer likewise describes analog input on the Tartarus Pro for controller-supported games.

- 7 Onboard Macro Keys for Instant Combos - Bind multiple commands to each of the 7 keys (28 total across 4 profiles), so MMO and MOBA ability rotations fire with a single press instead of fumbling for a full keyboard.
- Swap Switches Without Soldering - The upgraded socket accepts almost any 3-pin or 5-pin switch, so you can tune the feel of your off-hand keypad to match your main board.
- USB Pass-Through Port, Detachable Wrist Rest - Plug your mouse or headset directly into the keypad for a cleaner desk, and unclip the magnetic wrist rest whenever you want a smaller footprint.
- 16.8 Million Colors, 5 RGB Modes - Vibrant lighting effects let your off-hand setup match the rest of your battlestation.
- Pro Software for Even Deeper Customization - Record your own macro sequences and design custom lighting effects, so the keypad adapts to your exact keybinds.
Before choosing based on a feature, check the specific game and your intended setup: keyboard and mouse, controller input, or simultaneous mouse and controller input. Do not assume every game will accept a keypad’s analog mode just because the hardware offers it. When simultaneous input is unsupported, a directional-key emulation mode may still provide stick-style control, but it behaves as keyboard input rather than continuous analog movement.

- Confirm the input mode. Check whether your game supports keyboard input and, if analog movement is important, whether it supports mouse and controller input at once.
- Install the current configuration software. Azeron Software supports remapping, macros, analog-thumbstick adjustment, per-game profiles, and automatic profile switching. Version 2.0.2 described profiles stored on the keypad; software details can change, so check Azeron’s current software information.
- Build a small first layout. Start with the actions you need most often, such as movement, core abilities, healing, or interaction. Azeron recommends beginning with important keys and expanding the layout gradually.
- Assign secondary actions after the basics feel natural. Add less frequent skills, utility, professions, mounts, or other commands once you can reliably reach the essential bindings.
- Save a profile for the game and test the actual behavior. Check that each binding triggers the intended action, that profile switching works as expected, and that the thumb control uses analog or emulated directional input as intended.
What the manufacturer specs can—and cannot—tell you
Published feature lists make it possible to compare controls, switch styles, thumb inputs, and configuration options. They do not establish which keypad is fastest, most durable, or most comfortable for your hand. No independent performance figure or universal comfort result is established for these models here. Treat specifications as a shortlist: compare the key layout and input behavior with your own game, then give yourself time to adapt.
