Pokémon GO Hub’s list, updated October 13, 2026, places Mega Chesnaught first, followed by Mega Sceptile, Kartana, Mega Venusaur and Shadow Chesnaught. Dittobase also selects Mega Chesnaught as its best overall Grass attacker under a level-40, perfect-IV, no-weather baseline. These are simulator results rather than official in-game rankings, so choose by the raid boss, its moveset, your move access and whether you can use a Mega or Shadow Pokémon.
Current ranking: the five leading Grass attackers
The table below reproduces the displayed Pokémon GO Hub results dated October 13, 2026. DPS means damage per second, TDO means total damage output before fainting, and the score is Pokémon GO Hub’s combined ranking value. None of these figures is an official statistic published by Niantic; they are outputs from that site’s ranking setup.

| Rank | Attacker | Displayed moves | DPS | TDO | Score |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Mega Chesnaught | Vine Whip and Seed Bomb+ | 32.25 | 1258.3 | 30.69 |
| 2 | Mega Sceptile | Fury Cutter and Frenzy Plant | 33.08 | 738.2 | 30.11 |
| 3 | Kartana | Razor Leaf and Leaf Blade | 29.15 | 530.0 | 25.90 |
| 4 | Mega Venusaur | Vine Whip and Frenzy Plant | 26.96 | 846.6 | 25.23 |
| 5 | Shadow Chesnaught | Vine Whip and Frenzy Plant | 27.20 | 637.5 | 24.82 |
The ordering illustrates why a single number can mislead. Mega Sceptile has the highest displayed DPS, while Mega Chesnaught has substantially higher TDO and the top score in this ranking. A fast attacker can finish a short battle quickly; a bulkier one can stay in longer and reduce the damage lost when it faints.
Why another simulator can produce a different “best”
Dittobase independently identifies Mega Chesnaught as its best overall Grass attacker, but it ranks by eDPS. That measure combines sustained damage with the downtime spent relobbying after a faint, so it is not interchangeable with Pokémon GO Hub’s DPS, TDO or score.
#1 Best Overall
| Dittobase quick pick | eDPS | TDO |
|---|---|---|
| Mega Chesnaught | 28.87 | 956.4 |
| Shadow Chesnaught | 23.58 | 500.5 |
Dittobase’s displayed baseline is level 40, 15/15/15 IVs, no weather, no friendship bonus, no Party Power and no teammate Mega boost. It reports DPS, TDO, faints, time to win and eDPS as separate outputs. Pokémon GO Hub includes Mega and Shadow forms by default and exposes options for legacy moves and availability. Changing level, IVs, weather, friendship, Party Power, Mega support or relobby assumptions can reorder the list. When comparing pages, compare the same metric under similar settings rather than treating every displayed number as equivalent.
When Grass damage is the right choice
Niantic’s type-effectiveness guidance states that, when attacking, Grass attacks are strong against Water-, Rock- and Ground-type Pokémon. They are weak against Bug-, Fire-, Flying-, Grass-, Poison-, Dragon- and Steel-type Pokémon. Use a Grass team when the raid boss has a Grass weakness and the boss’s charged attacks do not erase the survival advantage of another counter type.
Matching an attack’s type with the Pokémon’s type increases attack power. For a Grass-focused raid team, a same-type Grass moveset generally gives the intended benefit, although the displayed rankings include entries with off-type fast attacks or dual typings. The boss’s actual moveset still matters: a nominally favorable matchup can be poor if the boss carries a move that hits your counters super effectively.
Primal Kyogre shows why the charged move matters
Primal Kyogre is weak to Grass, but the official raid guidance warns that Kyogre may use Blizzard. Blizzard can knock out Grass Pokémon, making an Electric attacker the safer choice in that particular moveset scenario. Check the raid-boss page or in-game move preview before committing a full team, especially when a weather-boosted or high-damage charged move threatens repeated faints.
What each leading attacker offers
Mega Chesnaught: the strongest all-around result in the current lists
Mega Chesnaught leads both Pokémon GO Hub’s dated ranking and Dittobase’s default eDPS quick pick. Pokémon GO Hub displays Vine Whip with Seed Bomb+ for the leading build. The plus sign identifies the displayed charged move variant in that table; confirm exactly which move your Pokémon has before powering it up.
Its appeal is the combination of high sustained output and the best displayed durability among the five Pokémon GO Hub entries. That combination helps in raids where a team cannot finish before the first group of attackers faints, because less time is lost rebuilding the party. Mega status also means its value is not only personal damage: a Mega can provide the normal in-raid Mega benefits to teammates, subject to the game’s current rules and the raid group’s composition.
Use Mega Chesnaught when you want one Grass Mega that performs well under both raw-damage and relobby-aware evaluations. It is not automatically the right answer against every boss; a Blizzard-using Primal Kyogre or a boss with another dangerous coverage move can favor a different type.

Mega Sceptile has the highest raw DPS shown in Pokémon GO Hub’s October 13 list, with Fury Cutter and Frenzy Plant. Its lower TDO than Mega Chesnaught means it may faint sooner in the same simulation, even though it deals damage faster while alive.
Choose it when finishing speed is the priority and the boss’s attacks do not punish its lower simulated durability. It is particularly attractive for groups that can maintain the battle without relobbying or for players who already have the required Frenzy Plant move. Because Frenzy Plant is marked as an exclusive or legacy move in the ranking references, verify access before investing resources.
Kartana: the highest non-Mega entry in the displayed top five
Kartana is the highest-ranked entry that is not a Mega in the Pokémon GO Hub table. It is a Grass- and Steel-type Ultra Beast, and The Pokémon Company’s September 13, 2022 guide identifies Razor Leaf and Leaf Blade as useful against Water-, Ground- and Rock-type Pokémon and calls Kartana one of the most powerful Grass raid attackers.
Its displayed ranking build uses Razor Leaf and Leaf Blade. Kartana’s lower TDO than the two leading Megas means it can require more replacements in a long raid, but it gives players a strong Grass option without occupying the group’s Mega slot. The official Kartana guidance is enduring type and move context, not a guarantee of current event availability; check how you can obtain Kartana and its moves in your region before planning a new team.

Mega Venusaur: durable Mega alternative
Mega Venusaur appears fourth with Vine Whip and Frenzy Plant. Its displayed DPS is below the other listed Megas, while its TDO is higher than Mega Sceptile’s and Shadow Chesnaught’s in the same table. That profile makes it a practical alternative when you value staying power and already have a correctly prepared Venusaur.
Frenzy Plant is marked as an exclusive move in the ranking references. A Venusaur without the displayed move should not be assumed to perform like the table entry. Check the move on the individual Pokémon and confirm whether the event or other current access method is available before spending Stardust, Candy or a rare move resource.
Shadow Chesnaught: shadow damage without the Mega slot
Shadow Chesnaught rounds out the displayed five with Vine Whip and Frenzy Plant. Its shadow form gives it a place in the high-damage discussion without using the team’s Mega slot, but the displayed TDO and Dittobase eDPS are below their Mega Chesnaught counterparts.
It can be a useful additional attacker for players who have already selected another Mega or who are building several Grass counters. As with the regular Chesnaught entry, verify that the individual Pokémon has the required move; a Shadow Pokémon with a different charged attack should not be treated as the ranked build.

How to choose for your account
If you want the fastest raw damage
Start with Mega Sceptile in the Pokémon GO Hub data because it has the highest displayed DPS. This is a speed-oriented choice, not a universal verdict: the figure comes from one simulator setup, and the lower displayed TDO means a boss with punishing charged attacks can change the practical result.
If you want the best balance of output and fewer relobbies
Mega Chesnaught is the most defensible default. It leads the Pokémon GO Hub score and Dittobase’s relobby-aware eDPS baseline, while also showing the highest TDO in the five-entry Pokémon GO Hub table.
If you cannot or do not want to use a Mega
Kartana is the highest non-Mega entry in the current five. Shadow Chesnaught is another high-ranked non-Mega option, particularly for players who already use a different Mega. Build several copies only after checking the raid boss, your move access and whether your team commonly needs relobbies.
Rank #4
If survival is more important than peak DPS
Use the TDO column as a first filter, then inspect the boss’s charged move. Mega Chesnaught and Mega Venusaur have higher displayed TDO than Mega Sceptile, but TDO is still a simulator output rather than a promise that a particular account will survive for the same duration. Your Pokémon’s level, IVs, weather, friendship bonuses and party support all affect real performance.
Move access: do not assume the table build is obtainable with a normal TM
The ranking pages mark some moves as legacy or exclusive. Frenzy Plant is marked in the displayed entries for Mega Sceptile, Mega Venusaur and Shadow Chesnaught, while Dittobase marks legacy moves with an asterisk. The pages do not establish current event access for each Pokémon or move.
- Inspect the individual Pokémon. Confirm its current fast and charged attacks before using resources.
- Check whether the displayed attack is exclusive. A normal Charged TM should not be assumed to teach a move identified as legacy or event-limited.
- Verify current availability. Look at the latest in-game event information and the move’s current acquisition method for your region.
- Only then power up. A Pokémon with a different moveset may have a materially different raid result from the ranked entry.
“Seed Bomb+” and other symbols in a ranking table are part of that site’s move notation. Read the move name exactly as displayed and compare it with the attack shown on your Pokémon; do not infer that the plus sign is available through an ordinary TM.
A repeatable method for selecting a Grass raid team
- Identify the boss’s weaknesses. Use Grass only when the boss is weak to Grass under the current type chart. Water, Rock and Ground targets are the primary cases supported by the official guidance.
- Read the boss’s charged attacks. If the boss carries a move that hits Grass counters hard, compare another type even when Grass has the nominal type advantage. Primal Kyogre with Blizzard is the clearest documented example.
- Choose your objective. Select raw DPS when speed is critical, TDO when you want fewer faints, or eDPS when relobby downtime is a major concern.
- Check your available forms. Decide whether the team can use a Mega, whether a Shadow attacker fits your resources, and whether you need a non-Mega lineup.
- Match the displayed moves. Prioritize same-type Grass attacks for a Grass-damage team, then verify that any legacy or event move is actually available to you.
- Account for support. Weather, friendship, Party Power, teammate Mega effects and your Pokémon’s level can alter the result from a level-40, neutral baseline.
- Build a complete party. Include enough attackers to avoid an avoidable relobby, but do not spend scarce resources solely to match a ranking screenshot if the boss’s moveset favors another type.
How to read the ranking numbers correctly
- DPS: damage per second while the attacker is active. It favors fast output and does not by itself describe how often the attacker faints.
- TDO: total damage dealt before fainting in the cited simulation. It helps indicate durability, but it changes with boss attacks, Pokémon level, IVs and other settings.
- eDPS: Dittobase’s measure that includes damage and the time cost of relobbying. It should not be compared numerically with Pokémon GO Hub’s DPS.
- Score: Pokémon GO Hub’s ranking output. The page does not present it as an official Pokémon GO statistic.
For example, Mega Sceptile’s displayed DPS exceeds Mega Chesnaught’s, yet Mega Chesnaught receives the higher Pokémon GO Hub score and the stronger Dittobase eDPS result. That is not a contradiction; it reflects different objectives and formulas.
Why these rankings will change
Niantic states that raid and Gym updates can change damage outputs, energy generation and attack durations. A move rebalance can therefore alter both the strongest moveset and the order of the attackers without any change to their species or typing.
Refresh the comparison after a battle-balance update, a new exclusive move, or a major change to Mega, Shadow, weather or Party Power mechanics. The Pokémon GO Hub ranking cited here was updated October 13, 2026 at 07:40 UTC, and Dittobase’s ranking was dated October 11, 2026 with the page crawled October 13. Treat those dates as the age of the displayed calculations, not as a permanent tier list.
Practical verdict
For most raid teams that need a Grass specialist, start with Mega Chesnaught and its displayed Vine Whip and Seed Bomb+ build, provided you can obtain and use that moveset. Pick Mega Sceptile when maximum displayed DPS matters more than durability, Kartana when you need the strongest non-Mega entry in the current top five, Mega Venusaur for a durable Mega alternative, and Shadow Chesnaught when you want another high-ranked attacker without taking the Mega slot. Before every investment, check the boss’s actual moves, your move availability and the simulator assumptions behind any number you are using.
