Which settings should you change first?
Try Low or Medium under Settings → Graphics if you are experiencing low FPS or inconsistent performance. The official Guns of Eschaton Steam Community post recommends those presets while a fix is in progress. It does not say which hardware or build is affected, or quantify how much performance should improve.

- Select Graphics.
- Choose Low or Medium manually, then check whether gameplay feels smoother on your PC.
There is no published benchmark comparing these presets, so treat this as a practical starting point rather than a guaranteed FPS fix. If one preset does not help, try the other and judge the result in your own build.

Look through the graphics or gameplay options in your installed version for an FOV control. The official community post says, “We’ve also seen your feedback about FOV and passed it on to the dev team.” That confirms the team received feedback, not that an FOV slider has been added or that a particular value is recommended.

Do not assume that options such as motion blur, shadows, anti-aliasing, brightness, contrast, or resolution scaling are present. Use only controls actually shown in your version, and avoid applying an unverified numerical FOV recommendation.
What do the published PC requirements tell you?
The current Steam store listing gives these minimum graphics requirements:

These are published minimum requirements, not performance measurements. They do not establish what FPS a qualifying PC will achieve, nor do they prove that a PC below this specification cannot benefit from Low or Medium. Check the store listing again for current requirements before using it to diagnose your system.
Do graphics presets change difficulty?
No. In a developer response during an Eschatology Entertainment Reddit AMA, the answer to whether the game has difficulty settings was: “No, the game doesn’t have difficulty settings.” Graphics presets and difficulty are separate: selecting Low or Medium is the official performance workaround, not a way to change combat difficulty.

Why should you check settings again after an update?
Guns of Eschaton is a first-person shooter, and Steam currently lists it as not yet available. Its demo options and guidance may change as development continues, so confirm what appears in your installed build and watch the official Steam Community updates for revisions to the temporary advice.
