A September 15, 2026 report based on Japanese and Asian PlayStation Store listings says Silent Hill 2 is scheduled to leave Extra/Premium by October 20, 2026; regional dates and availability can differ, so check your own Store’s “Last Chance to Play” listing. The report is not a universal Sony removal bulletin.

| Game | Horror style and loop | Platform and subscription status | How close it is to Silent Hill 2 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Until Dawn | Cinematic slasher horror; player choices affect whether eight friends survive at an isolated mountain lodge. | PS5. Sony announced it for Extra/Premium in October 2025; that historical inclusion does not establish its October 2026 availability. | Best fit if you want tension and story choices, but it is slasher horror rather than psychological exploration. |
| Hunt: Showdown 1896 | Horror-adjacent extraction shooter with monsters and rival hunters; play solo or in teams of up to three. | PS5. An October 2026 monthly game, claimable October 6 through November 2; monthly games are a different access route from the Extra/Premium catalog. | Shares monsters and an ominous world, but its multiplayer action loop is not a substitute for a quiet, single-player horror campaign. |
Choose by the kind of horror you want
For branching, cinematic slasher horror: Until Dawn
Until Dawn is the closest match here if what you want is an ensemble cast in danger and consequential choices. Sony describes its setup as eight friends at an isolated mountain lodge, with decisions affecting who survives. Sony’s October 2025 announcement confirms it was added to Extra/Premium then, not that it is still included now. Check the live listing before treating it as a subscription pick. Sony’s announcement
For monsters and tense multiplayer action: Hunt: Showdown 1896
Hunt: Showdown 1896 offers horror imagery and hostile creatures, but the central activity is an extraction shooter: hunt targets while contending with other players, alone or in a team of up to three. Sony lists it among October 2026’s monthly games, available to claim from October 6 through November 2. Monthly claims are not the same as Extra/Premium catalog access; check the regional listing and claim window. Sony’s October lineup announcement

How to check which horror games are on PS Plus in your region
- Open PlayStation’s game finder and select the Horror genre filter.
- Check the game’s access category. The finder distinguishes Game Catalog, Classics Catalog, Ubisoft+ Classics, monthly games, and trials; a title appearing in a discovery listing does not by itself prove it is included with your tier.
- Confirm the required subscription tier and current availability on the title’s local PlayStation Store page or console listing.
- For a game marked as leaving soon, check your console or local Store’s “Last Chance to Play” section and note the displayed date. Catalog offerings change over time.
Sony’s October 2025 catalog announcement described Silent Hill 2 as psychological horror: James Sunderland returns to a fog-covered town populated by monsters. It identifies the title as a PS5 remake of the 2001 game, but that past catalog announcement is not evidence of current inclusion. Sony’s October 2025 announcement and its live game finder answer different questions: one records a past lineup, the other is a changing discovery page.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does a PS Plus game stay playable after it leaves the catalog?
Once a game leaves the catalog, the PS Plus catalog entitlement no longer provides access to it. Buying the game separately is a distinct way to continue playing; it is not an extension of the subscription entitlement. The cited departure report does not establish a grace period, so do not count on access after the date shown in your local Store.

If you want to keep playing Silent Hill 2 itself rather than choose a substitute, look for a separately purchased PS5 copy. Sony identifies it as PS5 software; check the retailer’s actual listing for edition, format, availability, and regional compatibility before buying. Sony’s title announcement
