- PlayStation 4 or Xbox One: Connect the console to the TV by HDMI and play a locally installed or disc-based game.
- Docked Nintendo Switch: Place the Switch in its dock, connect the dock to HDMI power and select TV mode. Handheld-only Switch Lite hardware cannot output to a television.
- Cloud-capable hardware: Stream a supported title through a service and a compatible television device, console or computer connected by HDMI. A service subscription, purchased game entitlement or both may be required.
“Older console” does not mean every game from that generation is still sold. A title can remain technically compatible while its disc stock, download listing or online features vary by country. Treat the platform information below as a compatibility starting point, then verify the exact edition in your regional store.

The game builds fear through scale, sound, darkness and pursuit rather than constant combat. You guide a small character through hostile spaces, hide from threats and solve environmental problems. Its stealth-focused design works particularly well on a large screen because silhouettes, distant movement and environmental details remain central to the experience.
- Choose it if: you want a focused solo game with atmospheric tension and stealth.

The Thing: Remastered: the flexible local-or-cloud option
Xbox lists The Thing: Remastered as playable through the cloud with Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate and as available on Xbox One. Universal’s announcement lists versions for Windows PC, PS4 and PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch. The same announcement identifies NVIDIA GeForce NOW streaming to PC, Mac, SHIELD TV, Android, iOS and Chromebook.

SHIELD TV is an explicit television-oriented destination; other listed destinations generally need to be connected to the TV or used with a compatible display setup.
- Choose it if: you want a traditional survival-horror structure and already have access to Xbox cloud play or an Xbox One.
- Check first: whether the game is in your country’s current Game Pass catalog, which tier includes cloud play there, and whether your chosen GeForce NOW device supports the required app.

MOTHERED: another Switch TV-mode option
Nintendo’s store information also identifies TV mode for MOTHERED. It gives docked-Switch owners a second indie psychological-horror route without requiring a PS4, Xbox One or cloud subscription.
As with any digital Switch listing, confirm that the game is available in your country and that your account can purchase it. TV mode confirms display compatibility; it does not by itself establish multiplayer support or a physical release.
How to get each type of setup working
Using a PS4 or Xbox One
- Connect the console’s HDMI output to an open HDMI input on the television.
- Connect the console to power, switch the television to that HDMI input and pair or connect a controller.
- For a disc game, insert the disc and let the console install any required data. For a digital game, sign in to the account that owns it and download it from the console library or store.
- Check the game’s product page for the exact platform and edition. A PS4 listing does not automatically grant an Xbox One copy, and an Xbox cloud listing does not guarantee a local installation.
- Start the game after installation finishes. If an update is offered, allow it to complete before troubleshooting performance or missing features.
Using a docked Nintendo Switch
- Connect the Switch dock to its AC adapter and to the television by HDMI.
- Place the console in the dock and switch the television to the dock’s HDMI input.
- Pair Joy-Con controllers or a compatible controller while the console is in the dock.
- Open the Nintendo eShop listing and confirm that the title supports TV mode in your region.
- Download the game or insert the cartridge, then launch it from the Home menu.
A Switch Lite cannot be used for this route because it has no TV-output mode. If TV play is essential, use a standard Switch model with a functioning dock.

Using Xbox cloud play
- Confirm that the game’s Xbox listing currently offers cloud play in your country.
- Check which subscription tier includes the cloud feature where you live. The Thing: Remastered is listed with Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate, but catalog and tier terms can change.
- Use a supported Xbox device or compatible cloud client connected to the television.
- Sign in to the account with the required subscription, search for the game and start the cloud session.
- If the title is unavailable, do not assume the problem is your TV: regional catalog changes, account permissions or a tier change may be responsible.
Using GeForce NOW for The Thing: Remastered
- Check that your chosen device is one of the destinations identified in the announcement: PC, Mac, SHIELD TV, Android, iOS or Chromebook.
- For a television, connect the supported computer or streaming device by HDMI, or use SHIELD TV directly if it is available in your setup.
- Confirm that the service supports the game and that you have the required game entitlement or account connection.
- Launch the service, sign in, select the title and pair a compatible controller.
GeForce NOW streaming to a phone, tablet or Chromebook is not automatically the same as native TV support. You need a display path that your device and television both support.

- Platform: confirm PS4, Xbox One, Switch, Xbox cloud or another listed platform rather than relying on a similarly named version.
- Edition: look for “Complete Edition,” “Extended Cut” or “Remastered” when that is the version you intend to buy.
- TV method: confirm that your Switch listing says TV mode, or that your streaming device supports the service application.
- Subscription: read the current cloud tier requirement. A subscription catalog is not permanent ownership.
- Region: verify availability in your country, including language, age rating and purchase restrictions.
- Online features: for Man of Medan, check whether the current edition still supports the shared-play option you want.
Common problems and fixes
The TV says “no signal”
Confirm that the console or dock is powered, the HDMI cable is fully seated and the television is set to the matching input. Test another HDMI input or cable before assuming the game or console is defective. A Switch must be in its dock; a Switch Lite cannot output video.
The game does not appear in the store
Search by the complete title and verify your account region. Older games can disappear from a storefront while remaining playable from a previously purchased library or on disc. A listing in another country is not proof that you can purchase it locally.

Cloud play is missing
Check the current catalog, subscription tier and account. Cloud rights can differ by country and can be removed or added without changing the game’s local-console availability. Also confirm that your device is supported; not every smart TV runs every cloud app.
The controller will not work in the dock or cloud session
Pair it from the console or device’s controller settings, charge it and disconnect it from another nearby system. For cloud play, use a controller officially supported by the client rather than assuming every Bluetooth pad will be recognized.
The image feels delayed while streaming
Streaming depends on the network path between your device and the service. Use a wired connection where practical, reduce other traffic on the same network and test the service at the time you plan to play. If delay remains unacceptable, choose a locally installed PS4, Xbox One or Switch version instead.

- Identify the hardware already connected to your TV: PS4, Xbox One, Switch, an older console or a cloud-capable device.
- Choose a game from the matching platform row rather than starting with a title that needs unsupported hardware.
- Open your regional store page and verify the edition, TV connection method and current availability.
