There is no objective all-time winner for HTC Vive. The strongest choices depend on whether you want fast physical action, a first taste of room-scale VR, a long RPG, cooperative combat, rhythm play, or puzzles. This shortlist brings together Vive-focused recommendations from UploadVR, HTC, and PCWorld with a current roundup that identifies several games as supporting Vive; it is an editorial guide, not a single shared ranking.
How to choose a Vive game
Vive games can make different demands of you and your play space. Some emphasize room-scale movement and tracked hand controls; others work as seated or standing adventures. Before buying, consider the genre, how much physical movement it asks for, whether it is solo or co-op, and whether its current store listing explicitly supports your Vive setup.
The lists behind these recommendations come from different publishers and periods: UploadVR’s Vive-specific ranking, PCWorld’s 2016 launch-era roundup, HTC’s historical recommendations, and a current general VR roundup. Their ranks and scopes are not directly comparable, so the picks below are organized by what you want to play rather than blended into a supposedly precise order.
Best HTC Vive games by experience
Action that rewards movement: Superhot VR
Superhot VR turns movement into its central mechanic: time advances when you move. UploadVR named it its best HTC Vive game, an endorsement from that publication rather than a universal award. Choose it if you want action built around deliberate physical movement instead of simply aiming and firing.

A first VR showcase: The Lab
The Lab is Valve’s collection of varied minigames and interactions. UploadVR describes it as a polished showcase of VR, making it a useful place to sample different kinds of interaction before settling on a genre.
Long-form fantasy role-playing: Skyrim VR
Skyrim VR brings an expansive RPG world into VR. It is the pick here for a longer fantasy adventure, rather than a short demonstration or tightly focused puzzle. A current general VR roundup lists HTC Vive among its supported platforms, but check the individual store listing for the exact version and setup before purchase.
Rank #2

Third-person puzzle adventure: Moss
Moss offers a different perspective: a mouse-led, diorama-scale adventure mixing puzzles and sword combat. It suits players who want an adventure to observe and guide, rather than a game built around inhabiting a first-person action role.
Co-op science-fiction combat: Raw Data
HTC’s VIVE Blog highlights Raw Data for its 360-degree combat and co-op. It is a natural option when you want a more physical science-fiction action game to play with someone else.
Rank #3
- Full-Body Tracker: Track the physical presence of your entire body within the virtual environment. Capture full-body motions with as few as 3 trackers (Support for SteamVR BS1.0 and BS2.0).
- VR Accessory Tracking: Enable the tracking of real-world objects and VR accessories to increase the realism of your simulation or training experience.
- Light Weight: Lighter weight for easier handling, improved comfort, and more uses with your VR set. Your favorite VR tracker just got even more versatile (15% lighter than VIVE Tracker 2018).
- Longer Lasting Battery: Work, train, and create for longer with up to 7.5 hours of battery life (Up to 75% longer than VIVE Tracker 2018).
- Expand Your View: 240° field of view
Comic object interaction: Job Simulator
Job Simulator centers on humorous interactions with objects. Both HTC’s VIVE Blog and PCWorld recommended it, and its playful simulation premise makes it a distinct alternative to combat-focused titles.
Zombie survival: Arizona Sunshine
HTC describes Arizona Sunshine as a zombie survival game built around scavenging and survival. Pick it for that specific survival-horror premise rather than assuming all of the titles in this list offer the same intensity or movement style.
Rank #4
- All-In-One VR Solution: The VIVE Focus series offers standalone and PC VR experiences. Harness the power of virtual reality with high-resolution displays, versatile tracking features, and immersive applications. Base station-free.

Rhythm: Beat Saber
Beat Saber asks you to slash blocks to music. A current general VR roundup lists HTC Vive as a supported platform, making it one of the shortlist’s rhythm-game options; confirm the current title listing for your headset before buying.
Escape-room puzzles: I Expect You to Die 2
I Expect You to Die 2 focuses on escape-room-style puzzles. The same current roundup lists Vive support. It is a good genre match if solving scenarios is more appealing than rhythm play or combat.

More Vive-era recommendations
HTC’s historical recommendations also include Vanishing Realms and Audioshield. UploadVR’s Vive list includes Gorn and Onward. These broaden the range of the older recommendations, but their inclusion in a historical list does not by itself confirm current sale, maintenance, or compatibility with every Vive configuration.
Check compatibility before you buy
Valve’s SteamVR store page says, “SteamVR supports the Valve Index, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Windows Mixed Reality headsets, and others.” That is platform-level support, not a guarantee that every individual game remains available or works with every original Vive setup. Check the game’s own current store listing for headset support, required equipment, and availability. Current prices and exact title-by-title compatibility are not established across this shortlist.
