For a simple, managed way to keep prerecorded videos live on YouTube, StreamNeo is the first option to consider: upload a video or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live from the cloud. For a self-managed setup, there is no evidence-based universal winner among Indian cloud providers. Compare an India-region virtual machine (VM) using your actual encoder workload, outbound-transfer costs, and a test of the route to YouTube Live.

Which option fits your channel?

Option Best fit Main trade-off
StreamNeo A creator who wants uploaded videos or playlists to loop on YouTube without managing a server. It is a managed service for YouTube prerecorded-video streams, not a general-purpose cloud VM or camera encoder.
India-region cloud VM A creator who wants control over encoder software, files, and server configuration. You must configure and maintain the VM, encoder, restart behavior, and monitoring, and account for outbound data charges.
Managed broadcast service A production with broadcast-oriented needs and an operational budget suited to a managed video workflow. Do not assume it is the cheapest choice for one looped video; the available evidence does not establish that.
Dedicated encoder appliance A creator who prefers dedicated hardware to server administration. It is a hardware purchase rather than a cloud VM; compare current availability and price before choosing.

StreamNeo is the #1 managed option to try for an always-on YouTube loop: it runs from the cloud, supports uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day.

For a self-managed Indian cloud setup, Google Cloud documents Mumbai and Delhi compute regions. Azure also documents India regions, but neither regional availability nor provider reputation establishes the best price or the most reliable route to YouTube for your account. Test the exact region, VM, and stream configuration you intend to use.

How to choose an Indian cloud VM

Check region, cost, and workload together

  • Confirm the region available to your account. Google Cloud lists Mumbai (asia-south1) and Delhi (asia-south2). Verify the actual VM region and capacity when configuring your account; availability alone does not predict stream performance.
  • Estimate outbound transfer at your bitrate. Streaming continuously sends data out of the VM. Google Cloud publishes India-relevant network pricing, and Azure says outbound data transfer is charged and maps Indian regions to its Asia/Oceania pricing zone. Check the current pricing pages or calculators for the specific region, destination, billing unit, currency, and any account discounts before committing.
  • Do not mistake a network rate for your full streaming bill. Google Cloud lists India-to-India VPC Interconnect transfer at $0.045 per GiB, but that is an Interconnect price, not a general internet-egress quote for a VM sending video to YouTube. VM compute, storage, transfer, taxes, and any other applicable charges may affect your bill.
  • Size the VM for the work it actually performs. Looping a file that is already encoded can require less CPU than live encoding or transcoding. The software, codec, resolution, and frame rate all matter. Observe CPU and network use during a trial instead of treating a suggested machine size as a benchmark.
  • Test the route you will rely on. Run a private or unlisted test with representative picture motion and audio, monitor YouTube’s stream health, and check how the encoder behaves after a network interruption. No established provider comparison ranks Indian cloud routes to YouTube by sustained reliability.

There is no defensible universal “best Indian provider” without a same-date comparison of the relevant VM class, outbound charges, encoder load, currency and taxes, and sustained route performance. Treat the first deployment as a measured trial, then compare the actual bill and stream behavior before extending it.

Configure a prerecorded stream for YouTube Live

YouTube Live receives a feed from an encoder; the encoder may be software running on your VM or a hardware device. The VM does not make a prerecorded file live by itself. Configure playback or looping in the encoder, then send that output to YouTube using the server URL and stream key shown in YouTube Studio.

  1. Enable live streaming in advance. If this is your first live stream, YouTube says enabling the feature may take up to 24 hours.
  2. Prepare the video and playback method. Decide whether your encoder will loop one file or play a playlist. Use a file and audio setup that you have checked for the intended stream. A loop needs a process that continues playback and reconnects if the encoder or network stops.
  3. Create or select the YouTube stream in Studio. Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and copy the server URL and stream key for the stream. Paste them into the encoder’s streaming destination. Treat the stream key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your channel. Do not publish it in scripts, screenshots, or logs.
  4. Choose a supported transport and encoder settings. YouTube recommends RTMPS. For H.264, YouTube’s published recommendations include 10 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps and 4 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps. These are YouTube recommendations, not measured minimums for a particular VM or guarantee of a stable connection. Set the output resolution and frame rate to match the source and your intended stream.
  5. Test with representative content. YouTube recommends testing with comparable audio and motion. Start the encoder, wait for the Live Control Room preview, and check stream health before relying on the feed. A still image or silent test may not reveal problems that appear with the real video.
  6. Keep the stream process supervised. Configure a process supervisor or equivalent restart mechanism for the encoder, retain enough logs to diagnose failures, and monitor both VM resource use and YouTube stream health. A VM is not interruption-proof just because it runs in a data center.

What “nonstop” means on YouTube

A cloud VM can keep an encoder running, but it cannot guarantee an unbroken YouTube session. Plan for VM restarts, network drops, encoder crashes, stream-key changes, and YouTube-side session behavior. Verify that a restarted encoder reconnects correctly and that an operator can detect a failed feed.

  • YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement does not guarantee that longer streams will remain uninterrupted or be archived in the same way.
  • Google Cloud Live Stream API documentation describes a channel that may be restarted after 24 hours in a non-stopped state. This concerns that managed API’s channel behavior; it is not a general YouTube Live rule and should not be conflated with YouTube’s archive guidance.

Check YouTube’s current live-stream policies and your account’s Live Control Room behavior before scheduling a long-running feed. Use only video and audio you have the rights to stream, and consider how repetitive or reused material fits YouTube’s policies and your channel’s monetization eligibility. A technically healthy stream does not by itself establish that its content complies with platform rules.

Other ways to run the feed

Managed video service

AWS Elemental MediaLive is a verified YouTube encoder option, but the available information does not establish it as an economical default for a single prerecorded loop. Google Cloud Live Stream API is a separate managed channel service rather than a VM with your preferred encoder; account for its documented channel-session behavior before treating it as continuous.

Dedicated hardware

YouTube’s encoder guidance describes the AJA HELO Plus PlayToStream feature for scheduled prerecorded media without a computer. It is a genuine alternative to a VM, but available information does not establish that it costs less than a cloud VM. Verify the current product listing, compatibility, and price before purchase.

Common problems and fixes

  • No preview appears in YouTube Studio: Check that the encoder is running, the correct server URL and stream key were copied from the selected Live Control Room stream, and the VM can send traffic to YouTube. Replace a potentially exposed key in Studio rather than continuing to use it.
  • The feed starts but stream health degrades: Compare encoder output bitrate with sustained outbound capacity, inspect VM CPU and network use, and test with the intended resolution, frame rate, audio, and motion. A brief speed test is not proof of reliable continuous throughput.
  • The picture stutters or the encoder falls behind: Determine whether the VM is decoding, transcoding, or merely forwarding an already encoded file. Reduce unnecessary real-time processing or resize the VM based on observed resource use, then test again.
  • The stream stops after a VM or network interruption: Confirm that process supervision restarts the encoder, that credentials remain valid, and that the encoder reconnects to the intended YouTube session. Add alerting so a silent failure is not mistaken for a live channel.
  • The monthly bill is higher than expected: Separate compute, storage, and outbound transfer charges; recalculate transfer using the actual bitrate and run time, region, destination, and current billing terms. Do not apply the VPC Interconnect rate as ordinary internet egress.

Cost and operational trade-offs

For a self-managed VM, the key variable cost is often the combination of compute and continuous outbound transfer, with storage and other account charges also relevant. Compare providers using the same stream bitrate, uptime hours, region, and encoder workload, and recheck pricing immediately before deployment because cloud rates and billing conditions can change.

For a bitrate-based transfer estimate, multiply the stream bitrate in bits per second by the planned streaming seconds, then convert bits to bytes and use the provider’s stated billing unit. Treat this as an estimate: protocol overhead, reconnects, billing granularity, taxes, and discounts can change the billed total. A short test can reveal CPU and connection issues, but it cannot alone establish long-term uptime.

Or let it run in the cloud
