Best Inferno Nade Spots and Smoke Lineups in CS2

Master Inferno's highest-value CS2 utility in the right order: CT and Coffins smokes for B, Arch, Library and Moto for A, Short and Long for mid, plus flashes, fire and HE timing.

The highest-value Inferno utility is the Banana pair: a CT smoke plus a Coffins smoke. Together they remove the two sightlines that make a B-site commitment difficult. Once those throws are reliable, add Arch, Library, Moto, Short and Long smokes for A and mid splits, then layer flashes, molotovs, incendiaries and HE grenades around the smoke timing.

This guide organizes the most useful Inferno nade spots by side, destination and tactical purpose. It also gives a repeatable practice method, explains when each grenade belongs in an execute, and shows how to keep lineups working after CS2 map updates.

What to learn first on Inferno

Inferno utility is easiest to learn as a set of problems rather than as a collection of isolated grenade names. Every throw should answer one question: which defender, sightline or rotation route must be removed for the next action to succeed?

  1. B-site commitment: block CT and Coffins from Banana.
  2. A-site or mid split: cut Arch, Library and Moto, then use Short or Long to shape the approach.
  3. Banana control: use molotovs, HE grenades and flashes to clear close positions before taking or retaking space.
  4. CT-side contest: hide the first swing with a CT-spawn banana or mid smoke, then flash through the edge of the smoke.

A Steam Community Inferno guide identifies the CT smoke as the critical grenade for a committed B hit. That priority is practical: a smoke at CT blocks the deep angle and the most direct rotation sightline, while Coffins smoke removes the close site hold that can stop the plant.

“The CT Smoke will be the most critical utility thrown while committing the B site on the Inferno map of Counter-Strike 2.” — danminds, Steam Community guide

How to read an Inferno lineup

A lineup is more than a crosshair picture. Before adding a throw to your practice routine, identify six attributes:

  • Side: whether the throw is for Terrorists or Counter-Terrorists.
  • Destination: the named area the grenade must occupy, such as CT, Coffins or Arch.
  • Purpose: entry protection, rotation denial, angle isolation, site clearing or retake support.
  • Throw difficulty: whether the release uses a simple stand-and-throw action or depends on a precise movement, jump or lineup reference.
  • Spawn dependence: whether the throw works from most starting positions or only from a particular spawn or landmark.
  • Patch stability: how likely the throw is to survive changes to Inferno geometry or grenade behavior.

The supplied lineup resources do not publish a universal difficulty or spawn rating for every named smoke, so treat those two attributes as part of your own validation. A slightly harder smoke that works from several positions can be more useful in a match than an easy throw available only from one spawn.

T-side B-site nade spots from Banana

CT smoke: the commitment smoke

Throw the Banana-to-CT smoke when the team is actually committing to B, not merely feinting. Its job is to remove the deep CT sightline and obscure the route through which defenders rotate into the site. With CT covered, the entry players can concentrate on the site mouth, Coffins and close corners instead of being exposed to a long-range defender.

Call the smoke before the throw so teammates know when the visual wall will appear. The grenade is most valuable when the rest of the team uses its duration to cross, clear and plant. If the team is still undecided between A and B, holding the smoke can preserve the option to rotate; once it lands, the visual information given to the defenders also reveals that the B hit is serious.

Coffins smoke: deny the close hold

The Banana-to-Coffins smoke pairs with CT smoke on a full B execute. Coffins and the nearby graveyard angle are common places for a defender to anchor the site or punish players entering from Banana. Blocking that pocket makes the plant and first clear safer, especially when the entry flash arrives as the smoke blooms.

Do not treat Coffins smoke as a substitute for CT smoke. The two grenades remove different threats: Coffins protects the immediate entry and plant area, while CT protects the deep lane and rotation sightline. If only one smoke is available, choose according to the information you have. A known CT rotator favors CT smoke; a visible or expected Coffins hold favors Coffins smoke.

Banana molotov and HE grenade

Use a Banana molotov or incendiary early when the goal is to contest or clear close positions before taking control. Fire damage forces a player out of a pocket or delays a swing, giving your team room to move up. An HE grenade is most effective when defenders are grouped or have already taken damage; it softens the fight before the smoke-and-flash entry.

These grenades solve different problems. A molotov denies a location over time, while an HE delivers immediate damage but does not hold the area. If defenders are trapped behind a smoke, an HE can punish a predictable stack; if they are hiding in a known corner, fire is usually the more direct denial tool.

Flash timing for the Banana swing

Flashes create the moment in which your team converts utility into territory. Layer a flash with the smoke rather than throwing it as an unrelated first action: the smoke limits the defender’s vision, and the flash lets the first players swing, clear the edge and force the remaining defenders away.

Use a call such as “smokes down, flash now” so the entry knows whether to fight immediately or wait for a second flash. A flash thrown too early can be fully absorbed before anyone reaches the angle; one thrown after the swing leaves the first player exposed. The exact release depends on the lineup and the team’s position, so practice the visual cue—the smoke bloom and the flash pop—rather than memorizing an arbitrary timer.

T-side A and mid smokes

Arch smoke

Arch is a high-value smoke for an Apartments or mid split into A. It cuts one of the strongest defender rotation and retake lanes, reducing the number of angles that can fire into the split. When the team enters from two directions, Arch smoke helps the players crossing from one route avoid being isolated by a defender moving through Arch.

Use Arch smoke when the plan depends on keeping defenders inside the site or delaying their retake. If the team is only taking mid control, saving the smoke can preserve a later split; if the execute is already called, throw it early enough that the split players see the same blocked route when they arrive.

Library smoke

Library smoke removes another important A-site rotation and retake lane. It is particularly useful when the team wants Apartments players to arrive while the defender in or near Library cannot freely support the site. Pair it with a flash for the player clearing the edge of the smoke, because a smoke alone does not prevent a defender from pushing through.

Arch and Library are complementary. A split that leaves one of them open can still face a fast crossfire or retake. Choose both when the execute has enough grenades; otherwise prioritize the lane that your entry path exposes first.

Moto smoke

Moto smoke blocks the central A-site angle while players cross or plant. It is a crossing and plant-protection tool: the smoke does not clear every close position, but it can stop defenders from holding the most direct view into the open site.

Because Moto sits in the center of many A-site fights, coordinate the throw with the planter’s route. A smoke that lands after the planter crosses has little value, while one that blooms before the crossing can hide both the entry and the plant. Keep a flash ready for a defender who pushes the smoke edge.

Short and Long smokes

Short and Long smokes shape mid control and isolate defenders before an A hit. Use the destination that matches the route your team is actually taking: Short for a tighter mid-side approach, Long for a deeper lane or a plan that needs to cut a farther angle.

These smokes are especially useful when the team wants to force defenders to choose between holding an exposed position and giving up information. They can also make an Apartments-to-A split harder to read by obscuring the mid observer’s view. Avoid throwing both automatically; spend the grenade on the route that the current plan needs to protect.

CT-side Inferno utility

CT-spawn banana smoke

From CT spawn, a Banana smoke obscures Terrorist vision and supports either an early contest or a delayed retake. It is not an attacking execute smoke: its value is in denying information and buying time for the CT team to choose when to fight.

Use it when a teammate is ready to contest the smoke edge, or when the team wants to delay the T advance without exposing a player to the open lane. A smoke thrown with no follow-up can simply give the Terrorists a safe place to wait, so decide in advance whether the next action is a flash swing, a molotov behind the smoke or a fallback.

CT mid and banana utility

For a CT-side mid or Banana fight, pair the smoke with a flash and swing beyond the smoke. The smoke hides the setup; the flash creates the brief timing in which defenders can take a fight on their terms. This combination is stronger than dry-peeking because the opposing team must first identify where the flash came from and whether the smoke is being crossed.

Do not throw the flash without a player ready to capitalize. If the team is late, the flash may blind its own player after the opponent has already recovered. Establish a simple order—smoke, flash, swing, then retreat or continue based on the first contact.

Grenade layering by objective

Objective Primary utility What it removes or creates
Committed B hit Banana-to-CT smoke and Banana-to-Coffins smoke Blocks CT rotation, the deep CT sightline and the Coffins/graveyard hold.
Banana control Molotov or incendiary, HE, then flash Clears close positions, damages grouped defenders and creates a safe swing window.
Apartments or mid split Arch and Library smokes Cuts major A retake and rotation lanes.
A-site crossing and plant Moto smoke Blocks the central A-site angle during movement and planting.
Mid shaping Short or Long smoke Isolates defenders and protects the chosen approach.
CT Banana contest CT-spawn Banana smoke plus flash Denies T vision and supports a controlled swing or delayed retake.

Smoke is only one layer of the plan. Molotovs and incendiaries deny space, flashes create the timing to take it, and HE grenades punish grouped players or finish damage already dealt in a Banana fight. A useful default order is: deny a close position with fire, obscure the long sightline with smoke, then flash the player who must cross or swing.

Practice Inferno lineups without guessing

Use a private or practice server with unlimited utility. The objective is not merely to make a grenade land once; it is to reproduce the same result from the same stand point and recognize when a throw has failed.

  1. Choose one destination. Start with CT smoke, then Coffins, before moving to A and mid destinations. Naming the destination keeps the practice session focused.
  2. Mark the stand point. Use a fixed wall, corner, tile or other map landmark. Stand in exactly the same place for repeated attempts.
  3. Record the release. Note the crosshair reference, movement state and throw type. If the lineup uses a jump, walk or run, reproduce that input consistently.
  4. Check the landing area. Confirm that the grenade blocks the intended sightline rather than merely landing somewhere nearby. For CT smoke, inspect both the deep lane and the rotation view; for Coffins, check the graveyard and close-site angle.
  5. Repeat from the same point. Make several consecutive throws. A lineup that works once but fails on ordinary repetition is not match-ready.
  6. Test the tactical follow-up. Add the flash, swing, plant path or retake action that the smoke is meant to enable. Utility is useful only if teammates can act during its duration.
  7. Test nearby positions. If the throw is spawn-dependent, identify which starting positions preserve it and which require a different reference. Keep a backup smoke for rounds in which the preferred position is unavailable.
  8. Recheck after updates. Repeat the landing and follow-up checks whenever Inferno geometry or grenade behavior changes.

A dedicated Steam Workshop Inferno guide map lists 45 smoke points, 17 flash points, 18 molotov points, seven incendiary points and six HE points. That inventory is useful for broadening a practice routine after the core B smokes are reliable; it is not a guarantee that every point remains valid after a game update.

Patch stability and maintenance

Lineups are tied to map geometry and grenade behavior. CSGOLuck’s guide warns, “Lineups can change when Valve updates map geometry.” CSDB says its Inferno lineups were reviewed on July 4, 2026 and flags two later CS2 updates as a reason to recheck them. Those warnings matter even when the throw still appears visually correct: a small collision or surface change can move the grenade enough to open a sightline.

  • Throw CT and Coffins from the recorded Banana stand points.
  • Check that CT smoke still blocks both the deep sightline and the rotation lane.
  • Check that Coffins smoke still covers the Coffins/graveyard hold.
  • Repeat one Arch, Library and Moto smoke used in your default A plan.
  • Test the CT-spawn Banana smoke and the flash-swing timing.
  • Update any team notes that depend on a changed bounce, landing height or stand point.

Keep the date of the last successful check beside each lineup in your practice notes. A dated note does not make a throw permanent, but it tells the team which utility deserves attention when the next update arrives.

Choosing the right smoke in a live round

When the call is B now

Use CT and Coffins together, then spend the remaining utility on a Banana clear and entry flash. If one smoke is missing, communicate which threat remains open so the entry can clear it deliberately instead of assuming the angle is covered.

When the team is splitting A

Pick Arch and Library according to the routes that must connect, add Moto for the crossing or plant, and use Short or Long only where the chosen mid path needs protection. Avoid dumping every A smoke before the team has committed; preserving one lane-denial grenade can make the later plant or retake much safer.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

When CTs are contesting early

Use the CT-spawn Banana or mid smoke to deny vision, then flash the player who is ready to swing. If no one can fight immediately, use the smoke as a delay and save the flash for the next coordinated contact.

When the opponents are stacked

Favor fire and HE layering. A molotov or incendiary dislodges a close stack, while an HE grenade punishes players grouped behind the same cover. Follow with a smoke that removes the remaining long angle so the team does not trade one cleared position for another exposed crossing.

Common lineup failures and fixes

The smoke lands but the angle is still open

Recheck the destination rather than assuming the grenade is close enough. CT smoke must hide the deep CT view and the rotation sightline; Coffins smoke must cover the Coffins/graveyard hold. If either view remains visible, move the stand point or release reference during practice.

The throw works only from one spawn

Mark it as spawn-dependent and prepare a second reference from another common position. Do not force a teammate to cross exposed ground just to reach a preferred lineup; the movement cost can exceed the value of the smoke.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The team dies despite perfect smoke placement

Check the follow-up timing. A smoke does not clear a player who pushes through it, and it does not blind a defender holding the edge. Add the planned flash, molotov or HE and make the entry call at the moment the grenade becomes actionable.

The lineup broke after a patch

Stop using the old throw in matches, reproduce it in a practice server and compare the landing area with your notes. Revalidate the B pair first, then the A and CT utility that appears in your default plans. Both the CSGOLuck warning about geometry changes and CSDB’s post-review update notice support treating maintenance as routine rather than optional.

A compact learning order

  1. Banana-to-CT smoke.
  2. Banana-to-Coffins smoke.
  3. Banana molotov or incendiary, HE and one entry flash.
  4. Arch and Library smokes for the main A split.
  5. Moto smoke for crossing and planting.
  6. Short or Long smoke based on the team’s preferred mid route.
  7. CT-spawn Banana smoke and the accompanying flash-swing.
  8. Additional Workshop or database lineups after the core set survives a patch check.

This order gives a team a dependable B execute before adding the larger A and mid library. It also forces each smoke to be learned with the grenade that makes its tactical purpose possible, rather than as a disconnected lineup exercise.
