There is no confirmed single “best” Collateral loadout yet. The official announcement gives the mode’s rules and buy menu, but not prices, weapon statistics, purchase limits, or a tested buy order. The strongest approach is therefore a disciplined one: preserve lives, earn cash through both eliminations and objectives, coordinate team purchases, and spend between rounds according to the site, your team’s roles, and the information available.
What Collateral mode is
Collateral is a round-based multiplayer mode for players who enjoy Search and Destroy-style play and competitive decision-making. Two teams alternate between attacking and defending two bomb sites. Every player begins with a pistol, then earns in-game cash and buys upgrades between rounds. Money earned during the match carries into later rounds, so each purchase affects both the current round and the team’s future options.

The official description comes from Call of Duty’s September 29, 2026 announcement, which lists the mode and buy menu but says that additional details are expected closer to launch. The full game is scheduled for release on October 23, 2026. Until prices, weapon statistics and match rules are published, any “best” build should be treated as a testable plan rather than a proven meta. Read the official announcement.

| Rule | Practical consequence |
|---|---|
| Teams alternate attack and defense around two bomb sites. | Purchases should match the side you are playing and the site plan your team has chosen. |
| Everyone starts with a pistol. | The opening round is a low-resource fight; positioning, trading and objective pressure matter before upgrades become available. |
| Cash comes from eliminations and objective play. | Teams can fund later rounds without relying only on kills. Planting, defusing or otherwise contesting the objective should be part of the economy plan. |
| Purchases happen between rounds. | Decide your spend during the buy phase, not after the next round begins. |
| Earned money carries over. | Saving is a legitimate option when a purchase would leave the team unable to make a stronger coordinated buy later. |
| Death removes that player’s loadout. | A costly setup has no value after its owner dies. Staying alive and trading efficiently are economic actions as well as tactical ones. |
| Respawns are disabled. | There is no second life to recover a failed entry or replace a lost defender. Every opening duel has round-level consequences. |
| Killstreaks are disabled. | Do not reserve money or build plans around streak rewards. |
| Automatic health regeneration is disabled. | Damage remains a resource problem. The menu includes Stim, but its exact mechanics have not been published. |
| Custom loadouts are disabled. | You assemble your equipment from the Collateral buy menu rather than importing a normal multiplayer class. |
These are the announced rules. The tactical recommendations below are deductions from them, not live-test results or proof that one item dominates another.

The complete announced buy menu
The announcement groups purchases into six categories. It does not provide prices, weapon damage, handling values, item limits, or an order in which purchases should be made. Use the descriptions below to decide what information you still need to confirm in the game.
| Category | Announced options | Questions to answer in play |
|---|---|---|
| Armor and perks | Armor Vest; Battle Hardened; Lethal Reach; Fast Hands; Ghost | How much survivability or utility does each provide, what threats does it answer, and does its price leave enough money for a weapon or objective utility? |
| Equipment | Flash Grenade; Molotov Cocktail; Frag Grenade; Stim; Smoke Wall; Riot Shield | Is the item for entering, denying a route, protecting a plant or recovering from damage? What are its charges, duration and restrictions? |
| Pistols | Silenced Pistol; Revolver; Akimbo Pistols; Power Pistol | Does the sidearm replace a primary purchase, supplement a long-range weapon or provide a cheaper force-buy option? |
| Standard Issue | Shotgun; Light Machine Gun; Marksman Rifle; Silenced SMG; Agile SMG | Which lanes and distances favor each option, and can the wielder reposition quickly enough for the chosen site? |
| Tier 1 | Semi Auto Rifle; High Damage Rifle; Burst Rifle; Silenced Rifle; Sniper Rifle | What range, cadence and ammunition trade-offs justify paying for a Tier 1 weapon instead of a Standard Issue choice? |
| Team Buy | UAV | When will the team use it, who calls the timing, and does the information support a plant, retake or rotation? |
Names such as “Silenced,” “Agile” or “High Damage” indicate intended distinctions, but the announcement does not publish the underlying statistics. Do not assume a weapon’s exact handling, damage, sound profile or mobility until the in-game description or official patch notes confirm it.
A role-based way to assemble a loadout
Because custom classes are disabled, a Collateral “loadout” is a set of purchases made for one round. Choose a job first, then spend on the minimum items that let you perform it. The templates below are planning examples, not fixed rankings.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Site-entry player
An attacker who opens a route needs a weapon that works at the expected entry distance and equipment that helps the team cross a dangerous angle. Consider a Standard Issue SMG, shotgun or another close-range option when the route is tight; pair it with Flash Grenade, Frag Grenade or Smoke Wall only if the team has a clear use for that item. The key test is whether the entry creates space for a trade and plant. Buying several grenades without a caller or a timing plan risks spending money on equipment that never affects the site.
Long-range attacker
For an attack that must challenge a long sightline, compare the Marksman Rifle and Tier 1 rifle choices, including the Sniper Rifle, against the pistol and equipment you can still afford. A long-range purchase is valuable only if the round’s route gives you time and distance to use it. Before buying, identify who handles close corners after the team reaches the site; a team of only long-range weapons can struggle when the fight collapses onto the plant.

Site anchor
A defender assigned to hold one bomb site should spend around the angles and timing that matter for that site. A Light Machine Gun, rifle or close-range weapon may each be reasonable depending on the lane, but the announcement provides no statistics to rank them. Equipment such as Smoke Wall, Molotov Cocktail, Frag Grenade or Riot Shield can be evaluated by whether it delays a push, blocks a route or protects a defuse attempt. Save enough utility for the likely contact rather than using everything on a speculative early peek.
Information and support player
Support purchases should make the rest of the team’s money and positioning more effective. A UAV is explicitly a team purchase, so agree on its purpose before anyone spends: for example, early information on an attack route, confirmation during a retake or a check before rotating. The announcement does not state its price, duration, coverage or exact information, so record those details after launch before treating a particular timing as optimal.
Flex player
A flex player keeps enough cash to adapt after the team identifies the opponent’s setup. Start with a dependable pistol or lower-cost weapon if the team is saving, then upgrade when the purchase changes the round’s plan. Flex spending is most useful when teammates communicate which range, site and utility are missing; buying an expensive item simply because money is available is not a strategy.
Use a repeatable buy-phase procedure
- Confirm the side and objective plan. Identify whether the team is attacking or defending and which bomb site is the first priority. A weapon or grenade is only “good” relative to the route it must support.
- Count surviving teammates and retained cash. Death removes a player’s loadout, while money persists. Note who can afford a complete setup and who may need a pistol or partial buy.
- Assign responsibilities before selecting items. Name the entry, trade, anchor, flank watch and information caller. This prevents every player from buying the same range or duplicate utility.
- Choose the weapon by expected distance. Compare Shotgun, Light Machine Gun, Marksman Rifle, Silenced SMG, Agile SMG and the Tier 1 weapons according to the lanes your plan will actually use. The source publishes names but not performance figures, so verify handling and damage in the game.
- Add only role-specific utility. Select Flash Grenade, Molotov Cocktail, Frag Grenade, Stim, Smoke Wall or Riot Shield when someone can state where and when it will be used. Do not assume Stim’s effect; its mechanics are not announced.
- Check protection and perks last. Armor Vest, Battle Hardened, Lethal Reach, Fast Hands and Ghost compete with weapons and equipment for the same unknown budget. Buy them when their benefit addresses the round’s main risk, not as automatic purchases.
- Decide on the UAV collectively. A team buy should have a named caller, a trigger and a fallback. If nobody can explain what information will change, keep the cash for individual survival or a later round.
- State the save condition. If the team is preserving money, agree that the round is about information, objective progress and weapon recovery rather than forcing every duel.
Attacking tactics for two bomb sites
Make the objective part of the economy
Objective play is an announced source of cash, so an attack should not be measured only by eliminations. A controlled plant attempt can create income while forcing defenders to reveal positions. The exact reward and timing are not published, so treat the objective as a strategic funding source rather than assigning an unverified cash value to a particular action.
Trade instead of donating expensive gear
With no respawns and loadouts lost on death, an isolated entry can erase both a player and the money spent on that player. Enter with a teammate close enough to trade, and decide in advance whether the goal is a plant, a pick followed by a retreat, or a full site commitment. If the first contact fails, preserving surviving weapons may be more valuable than repeating the same duel.

Spend utility on the plant window
Flash Grenade, Smoke Wall and lethal equipment should support a specific crossing, plant or post-plant position. A Molotov Cocktail or Frag Grenade may be useful for denying a route, but the announcement does not specify their radius, damage or duration. Call the intended location and timing, then evaluate whether the item actually changed defender movement.
Keep a close-range answer
Even an attack built around a Marksman Rifle, Sniper Rifle or other long-range choice eventually enters a site. Assign at least one teammate to handle close corners and the final plant space. The menu’s SMG, shotgun and pistol options give you ways to test that role, but no published statistics establish which is superior.
Defending tactics and retakes
Protect the life that holds the site
A defender who dies early loses the purchased loadout and leaves the team without a respawn. Hold a position that can be traded or abandoned rather than taking an unnecessary solo peek. If the opponent has not committed, information and survival preserve more options than a low-probability duel.
Use the two-site structure to create uncertainty
Divide responsibilities so one player can provide information without abandoning the other bomb site. When attackers reveal their route, rotate deliberately and leave a teammate with a clear fallback. A UAV, if purchased, should be timed to answer a specific question such as whether a retake route is clear; its exact capabilities remain unpublished.
Plan for damage that does not heal automatically
Automatic health regeneration is disabled. A wounded defender therefore needs a safer position, a teammate’s cover and possibly Stim if its in-game effect suits the situation. Because the announcement does not explain Stim’s mechanics, do not promise that it restores a particular amount of health or works under a particular condition. Treat recovery as a finite resource when deciding whether to re-peek.

Retake with a defined trigger
Before the plant or defuse attempt, identify who enters first, who trades and which route is denied. Equipment and perks bought for a retake should have a declared job. A late, uncoordinated push can convert several surviving loadouts into one lost round, especially when there are no respawns.
How to manage money across rounds
The economy has three confirmed properties: eliminations and objective play generate cash, purchases occur between rounds, and earned money carries over. The announcement gives no prices or thresholds, so use a percentage-free decision process rather than copying a fixed “force buy” number.
- Full commitment: Buy when the team can cover its required weapons, essential utility and the roles needed for the planned site. Record whether the round produced enough value to justify the spend.
- Partial buy: Purchase the item that changes the round’s plan most—such as a weapon for a missing range or one piece of plant-denial utility—while preserving cash for the next round.
- Save: Keep money when a complete coordinated buy is impossible and the current round can still produce objective progress, information or a weapon pickup.
- Recovery after deaths: Because each death removes its owner’s loadout, reassess the next buy from the survivors’ cash rather than assuming the previous round’s setup continues.
Track two outcomes after every round: who survived with useful equipment and which purchase directly affected the objective. Those observations will become more valuable than a generic tier list once prices and statistics are available.

Common mistakes and corrections
Buying individually instead of as a team
Problem: One player buys a premium weapon while the team lacks entry utility or a close-range answer. Correction: Assign roles and announce the round plan before spending.
Best Value
- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Second, desk thickness range: 0.59" - 3.54". Third, the bottom of the desk should not have any cross beams or panels, as this will interfere with installation. We recommend carefully checking that your desk and monitors meets all above conditions before purchasing.
- Dual C-Clamp Hold - Worried your dual monitors might wobble or slip? Our upgraded base uses a larger platform plus a dual C-clamp structure to lock the dual monitor arm firmly to your desk. Each arm safely keeps your screens steady while you type, click and game—no shaking, no sliding, just a clean and secure setup you can trust every day. It also provides Grommet Mounting installation choice, both options ensure stable and secure fixation for your 0.59" - 3.54" desk.
- Full-Motion Adjustment For Comfortable View - Pull the screen closer when you’re deep in a spreadsheet, push it back to watch videos, or rotate to portrait for coding — moving everything smoothly with just one hand. The monitor stand offers +85°/-50° tilt, ±90° swivel and 360° rotation. Raise your monitor up to 15.75″ to support a healthy sitting posture. Whether you’re working from home, gaming through the night, or switching between video calls and documents, getting the screens to your natural line of sight helps relieve neck, shoulder and back strain so you can stay focused longer with less fatigue.
- Keep Your Desk Organized: By lifting both screens off the desktop, this dual monitor stand opens up valuable space for your keyboard, notebook, docking station or a simple, clutter-free work area. Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
Assuming a weapon name proves its statistics
Problem: Treating “High Damage,” “Agile” or “Silenced” as a complete specification. Correction: Verify damage, mobility, sound behavior and range in the released game or official notes.
Ignoring the cost of death
Problem: Repeating an exposed duel because a loadout can supposedly be recovered later. Correction: Play for trades, cover and information; every death removes that player’s purchased setup.
Spending all equipment before contact
Problem: The team reaches the site without a flash, smoke or denial tool for the decisive moment. Correction: Reserve at least one item for the plant, defuse or retake plan.
Inventing a fixed economy threshold
Problem: Following a guide that claims a precise saving or force-buy number before prices are published. Correction: Base the decision on the team’s actual cash, surviving equipment and next-round objective.
What is still unknown
The September 29 announcement establishes the mode’s structure and menu, but it does not establish:
- Prices for armor, perks, equipment, pistols, weapons or UAV.
- Weapon damage, recoil, range, ammunition, handling or sound behavior.
- Round length, starting cash, cash rewards, purchase limits or whether items can be dropped.
- The exact effects and restrictions of Armor Vest, Battle Hardened, Lethal Reach, Fast Hands and Ghost.
- The mechanics of Flash Grenade, Molotov Cocktail, Frag Grenade, Stim, Smoke Wall and Riot Shield.
- What information the UAV provides, how long it lasts or how the team activates it.
- Whether the two bomb sites have different layouts, routes or economy implications.
These gaps prevent a defensible universal tier list or optimal purchase sequence. Recheck the in-game buy screen and official updates when the mode launches before converting any template into a permanent rule.
Quick Recap
Launch-day checklist
- Confirm the current buy prices and whether they change by round.
- Test each weapon’s range, handling and ammunition before using it in ranked or competitive play.
- Learn the effect, duration and limitations of every grenade, perk, Stim and Riot Shield.
- Determine the UAV’s information, cost and best timing for attack, defense and retake situations.
- Record cash rewards for eliminations and objective actions instead of assuming they match another mode.
- Practice one attack plan and one defense plan for each bomb site.
- Agree on who calls the buy, who calls the UAV and when the team saves.
- Review deaths after each round: was the loss caused by positioning, missing utility, a poor range choice or an avoidable solo fight?
