Start with a smooth, stable setup on your own PC, then reduce graphics options—texture quality is one official suggestion—if performance is poor. Change one setting at a time and compare frame rate, frame pacing, image clarity, combat visibility and responsiveness.
Start with a baseline, not a copied preset
Before changing settings, note your display resolution, current graphics options and the performance you see in a representative match. Make one change at a time and compare under similar conditions; otherwise, it is difficult to tell which adjustment helped. Look beyond the average FPS: uneven frame pacing, blurred detail, hard-to-read effects and sluggish input can make a nominally higher frame rate feel worse.
The game’s official release FAQ lists hardware tiers, but does not promise a particular FPS at any resolution or graphics level. Meeting the minimum requirements therefore does not guarantee smooth performance. The developer explicitly recommends lowering graphics settings, including texture quality, when performance is slow. Marvel Rivals’ official FAQ, published December 6, 2024, is the source for the requirements and troubleshooting guidance below.
Check whether your PC meets the published requirements
The following are the requirements listed in the December 6, 2024 release FAQ; they are hardware tiers, not an FPS forecast.

The FAQ recommends an SSD for a better experience. It does not say that installing the game on an SSD raises FPS.
Tune settings to balance smoothness and image quality
There is no sourced setting-by-setting preset that applies to every PC. Use this sequence to find a practical balance on your hardware rather than assuming that a single configuration is best for every GPU, CPU, resolution or game version.

- Choose a resolution you can sustain. Begin at your display’s resolution if performance is smooth. If it is not, test a lower resolution and compare sharpness and readability as well as frame rate.
- Reduce graphics options when performance is poor. The developer specifically names texture quality as an option to lower. Change that or another available graphics option individually, then compare frame pacing and detail in combat.
- Keep changes that improve the experience, not just the number. Higher average FPS may not compensate for stutter, less legible effects or less responsive input. Compare the same kind of match before and after each adjustment.
- Recheck after updates. A game update or graphics-driver change can affect performance and may trigger shader compilation. Re-evaluate your setup rather than treating old results as a permanent preset.
Try the developer’s stutter troubleshooting steps
If stuttering continues, the official FAQ recommends reinstalling the latest graphics driver for your installed GPU model using clean installation mode, then setting Marvel Rivals to high-performance mode in Windows Graphics settings. These are developer-provided troubleshooting steps, not guaranteed fixes.
- Install the latest driver for your specific GPU model and choose the driver’s clean installation option.
- In Windows, open Settings > System > Display > Graphics, select Marvel Rivals (or add the game if it is not listed), choose Options, and select High performance if that option is available.
- Restart the game and compare performance under similar conditions.
Understand the experimental shader-compilation option
In an official notice dated April 10, 2025, Marvel Rivals described an experimental Switch Shader Compilation Mode available through the PC launcher from the Season 2 update. Check your current launcher before looking for it: its availability and label in a later build are not established by that notice. The developer’s shader-compilation notice says compilation runs on first entry after a new game version or graphics-driver update.

The developer says the mode reduces memory use and memory-shortage-related drops, freezes and crashes. It also reports possible abnormal material frames and slight stutter the first time materials render in a match. On systems with six or fewer CPU threads, combining the mode with AMD FSR3 Frame Generation may cause additional stutter. The notice suggests considering the mode for players with 16 GB RAM or less who have already experienced significant drops, freezes or frequent crashes; it does not establish that every player should enable it.

NVIDIA announced DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation for Marvel Rivals Season 3 on July 15, 2025, and recommends enabling NVIDIA Reflex to reduce PC latency. These are feature-specific options, not a universal preset: compatibility depends on your GPU and the game’s current implementation. NVIDIA’s announcement discusses results using DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation with DLSS Super Resolution, maximum settings and RTX 50 Series hardware.

NVIDIA reported 230 FPS on an RTX 5070, 290 FPS on an RTX 5070 Ti, nearly 330 FPS on an RTX 5080 and up to 450 FPS on an RTX 5090 at 4K with maximum settings. In that configuration, NVIDIA said the average multiplier was 5X. It also reported an average 3.4X multiplier and up to 529 FPS at 1440p, and an average 3.3X multiplier and up to 637 FPS at 1080p on an RTX 5090. These are NVIDIA-published figures for its stated hardware and DLSS configuration, not independent results, native-rendered baseline FPS or a prediction for another PC.
Frame-generation output is not the same as the number of frames rendered without frame generation. Judge the feature by the full experience—including perceived smoothness, image clarity and input response—rather than treating a vendor’s generated-FPS figure as a guaranteed improvement on your system. The cited sources do not provide an independent comparison of those trade-offs.

- QHD Resolution (2560 x 1440) has 1.7 times the pixel density of Full HD for incredibly detailed pinsharp images
- HDR10 provides brighter highlights and nuanced shadow for added depth - making every scene feel more vivid and realistic
- The 180Hz refresh rate minimizes lag for gameplay with ultra-smooth action. Plus, the 1ms response time helps capture your moves in real-time, allowing you to react fast for gaming precision
- AMD FreeSync reduces choppiness, screen lag and image tearing, ensuring that your fast-paced, complex in-game action is stable with minimal stutter
- Ergonomic stand allows for tilt, pivot and height adjustments to maximize gaming comfort
Choose settings by the problem you are trying to solve
- Low or unstable FPS: Reduce graphics options, including texture quality, and test one change at a time.
- Stutter or freezes: Try the developer’s clean graphics-driver installation and Windows high-performance graphics setting. If the experimental shader option is present, weigh its stated memory-related benefits against its first-render effects and the low-thread-count/FSR3 caveat.
- Soft or unclear image: Compare resolution and any supported upscaling options against detail and combat visibility; do not assume a higher FPS figure means a clearer image.
- Input latency: If supported, NVIDIA recommends Reflex. The announcement does not establish that it is available or beneficial on every system.
