Bedrock officially calls this content add-ons, rather than mods. Unlike Java Edition mods, Bedrock add-ons are built from resource packs and behavior packs, with some using scripts and other creator systems. They work differently from Forge or Fabric mods and must be checked against your exact Bedrock version.

Marketplace prices, ratings and availability change. Treat the figures below as catalog snapshots rather than permanent specifications.
1. Better on Bedrock: best broad survival overhaul
Better on Bedrock by Poggy is the best choice when you want Bedrock to feel substantially larger and more adventure-focused. Its current Marketplace listing describes custom trees, biomes and structures, more than 100 blocks and items, more than 20 mobs, more than 40 foods and quests, seven bosses, custom music and ambience.
#1 Best Overall
- Minecraft is a game about placing blocks and going on adventures
- Explore randomly generated worlds and build amazing things from the simplest of homes to the grandest of castles
- Play in creative mode with unlimited resources or mine deep into the world in survival mode, crafting weapons and armor to fend off the dangerous mobs
- Play on the go in handheld or tabletop modes
- Includes Super Mario Mash-Up, Natural Texture Pack, Biome Settlers Skin Pack, Battle & Beasts Skin Pack, Campfire Tales Skin Pack; Compatible with Nintendo Switch only
The key distinction is its Dynamic World classification. This is intended to provide a heavily altered world experience, rather than simply adding a few recipes or decorative blocks to an otherwise ordinary vanilla world. The listed price is 990 Minecoins, with a listed minimum version of 1.21.120 and a catalog update dated April 10, 2026. Verify the Marketplace page before purchase because those details can change.
Choose Better on Bedrock if you want a long-term survival playthrough with new progression and exploration goals. Choose a smaller add-on instead if you want to preserve an existing vanilla world with minimal changes.
2. Actions & Stuff: best visual overhaul
Actions & Stuff is the strongest recommendation for players who want Minecraft to look and feel more animated without abandoning its basic identity. It focuses on textures, models, animations and visual feedback rather than turning survival into a completely different game.
Recommended Free Tools
Mojang’s July 2026 Marketplace material identifies Actions & Stuff 1.11 as current Marketplace Pass content and describes it as an extensive overhaul of Minecraft’s textures and animations. A current Marketplace Explorer snapshot lists more than 148,000 ratings.
This is the better pick than a large gameplay overhaul when your priority is movement, entity presentation and atmosphere. It is also easier to understand as part of a carefully assembled pack stack: visual content may still conflict with another resource pack that edits the same textures, models or UI files.
3. RealismCraft: best realism package
RealismCraft combines a realistic visual presentation with additional survival content. Mojang’s July 2026 Marketplace Pass article lists RealismCraft 2.4 among its featured add-ons, while a current catalog snapshot lists more than 60,000 ratings.
It is suited to players who want a more grounded-looking world but still expect the add-on to contribute more than a texture refresh. Before starting a serious world, read the current product description and check whether the exact version supports the world features, multiplayer setup and achievement rules you care about.
4. Naturalist: best animal expansion
Naturalist by Starfish Studios is the clearest recommendation for players who want more wildlife in an existing Bedrock world. Mojang describes it as an add-on that adds new animals to a current Minecraft world, making it a more focused choice than a separate adventure map or total world replacement.
Rank #2
- Explore randomly-generated worlds and build amazing things from the simplest of homes to the grandest of castles
- Play in Creative Mode with unlimited resources or mine deep into the world in survival mode, crafting weapons and armour to fend off the dangerous mobs
A current Marketplace Explorer snapshot lists more than 66,000 ratings. Naturalist works best when your desired change is ecological variety: more creatures to discover, observe and encounter during ordinary exploration. It is not the right pick if your main goal is new bosses, dimensions or a heavily redesigned progression system.
5. Dragon and fantasy add-ons
How to Train Your Dragon Add-On
How to Train Your Dragon Add-On by Gamemode One is a current Marketplace option for players specifically looking for a dragon-themed experience. It appears among the most-rated Marketplace add-ons in a current catalog snapshot, with more than 60,000 ratings.
DRAGONS Add-On
DRAGONS Add-On by Shapescape is another Marketplace choice. The catalog snapshot used for this guide lists it at 1,340 Minecoins. Check the live product page for the current feature list and compatibility information.

AdventureCraft Add-On
AdventureCraft Add-On by Octovon is the broader fantasy-survival option. Mojang’s 2026 Marketplace material describes hundreds of blocks and items, structures, dungeons, loot and dragons that can be fought, tamed and ridden.
Pick a dragon-specific add-on when dragons are the central attraction. Pick AdventureCraft when you want dragons as part of a wider fantasy adventure system.
6. Furniture add-ons for builders
Another Furniture Add-On by Starfish Studios is the standout free option in the current Marketplace catalog, with more than 444,000 ratings in one snapshot. FURNITURE Add-On by XP Games is a premium alternative listed at 1,340 Minecoins in that same catalog snapshot.
Furniture packs are primarily building-content additions. They can make houses, shops and interiors more detailed, but they may have little effect on survival progression, exploration or combat. Do not choose one expecting the scope of a complete world overhaul.
7. DragonFire Lite: best free Marketplace survival starter
DragonFire Lite Add-On by Spectral Studios is listed as free and has more than 416,000 ratings in a current Marketplace Explorer snapshot. It is a sensible low-cost way to try dragon-themed Bedrock content.
Rank #3
The Lite label matters. Do not assume it contains the same features as a full paid edition. Read the current Marketplace description and compare the included content before treating it as a complete survival overhaul.
Best free community add-ons
Third-party Bedrock add-ons are commonly distributed as .mcpack or .mcaddon files. They can be excellent, but they require more checking than Marketplace content. A high download count does not prove compatibility with the latest game version.
More Body Actions + Pickup & Carry!
This utility add-on supports sitting, lying down, crawling, wall climbing and carrying mobs, players or blocks. Its current CurseForge listing targets Bedrock 26.30 and reports multiplayer support.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →System Dynamic Light
System Dynamic Light lets selected held items illuminate the surrounding area. Its current listing targets 26.30, making it one of the more promising utility candidates for the current retail branch.
Multiplayer Waypoint System!
This add-on provides public and private waypoints and currently targets 26.30. The listing claims compatibility with other add-ons, but you should still test it in a copy of your world before combining it with a large pack stack.
Edds’ VeinCapitator
Edds’ VeinCapitator combines vein mining and tree capitating and states a 1,000-block limit. Its current listing targets 26.10 rather than 26.30, so treat it as unconfirmed on the current branch.
Raiyon’s Java Combat
Raiyon’s Java Combat attempts to reproduce Java-style combat on Bedrock, but its current listing targets 26.0.02 rather than 26.30. It should not be presented as confirmed current-version compatible.

SERP Pokédrock
SERP Pokédrock adds Pokémon-style creatures, battling, mounts, mechanics and evolutions. Its current listing targets 26.30 and says all resource packs should be installed for the full experience.
Rank #4
- CREATE YOUR WORLD — Build whatever you imagine in an infinite world that is unique in every playthrough.
- EXPLORE AND CRAFT — Discover biomes, resources, and mobs, then craft your way through a sandbox world full of surprises.
- SURVIVAL ADVENTURES — Face mysterious foes, travel across varied landscapes, and venture into perilous dimensions.
- PLAY TOGETHER — Play solo or join friends in local split-screen and cross-platform play across console, mobile, and PC. Online multiplayer supports up to 8 players.
- COMMUNITY PLAY — Connect with players on community servers, or subscribe to Realms Plus (sold separately) to play with up to 10 friends on a private server.
Bedrock Essentials+
Bedrock Essentials+ is an all-in-one utility pack listing features such as Tree Capitator and Vein Miner. Its current listing targets 26.11, not 26.30, so test it carefully before using it in a valuable world.
Bedrock add-ons versus Java mods
Mojang’s terminology matters. Its support documentation says mods are exclusive to Java Edition, while Bedrock uses add-ons made from resource packs and behavior packs. Community sites, including CurseForge, often use “mods” as a familiar search term for Bedrock add-ons.
- Resource packs change textures, sounds, models, UI and other visual assets.
- Behavior packs change entity logic, recipes, loot, spawn rules, gameplay behavior and other mechanics.
- Some add-ons combine both pack types and may also use scripts.
.mcpackis normally one zipped resource or behavior pack..mcaddonis a package containing one or more.mcpackfiles..mcworldis a complete Bedrock world that may already include enabled packs.
Bedrock add-ons are not installed through Java mod loaders such as Forge or Fabric. Start with the creator’s Bedrock installation instructions and version tags instead.
How to choose an add-on safely
- Define the change you want. Decide whether you want visuals, furniture, wildlife, utility features, combat changes, dragons or a complete progression overhaul.
- Check the exact Bedrock version. The current retail branch is 26.30, with platform-specific hotfixes reaching 26.34 and 26.35 as of July 28, 2026. A pack’s displayed
min_engine_versionis not proof that every feature works correctly on the newest build. - Check the listing’s update date and target version. Microsoft’s current creator guidance broadly treats packs written for the current minor version or the immediately previous minor version as up to date, but individual features can still fail.
- Check dependencies. Some add-ons require both a behavior pack and a resource pack, or require additional resource packs for their full experience.
- Check experiments. Stable Marketplace add-ons do not all require experiments, but packs using experimental APIs or creator features may.
- Protect your world. Test on a copy, especially when the pack changes entities, dimensions, world generation or scripts.
- Check multiplayer support. A listing that claims multiplayer or “achievement friendly” is a creator claim, not a universal guarantee.
How to install Marketplace add-ons
New single-player world
- Launch Minecraft and select Play.
- On the Worlds tab, select Create new world.
- On the Create from . . . screen, choose Marketplace content or Create new world.
- Select Resource packs or Behavior packs.
- On the Available tab, select Activate.
- Select Create.
Existing single-player world
- Select Play.
- Select the pencil icon beside the world.
- Open Resource packs or Behavior packs.
- On Available, select Activate.
- Select Play.
Realm
- Select Play, then Realms.
- Select the Realm and choose Settings.
- Select the world slot, then Edit World.
- Under Add-Ons, open Resource Packs or Behavior Packs.
- Choose the pack from My Packs or Marketplace Pass Packs.
- Select Activate and confirm.
- Use the back button in the top-left and wait for the upload to finish.
- Select Play.
Players joining the Realm from another Bedrock device automatically download and apply the add-ons activated on that Realm.
How to import community .mcpack and .mcaddon files
On Windows, close Minecraft before opening the downloaded file if automatic import fails. A May 2026 Minecraft Feedback report describes unreliable .mcaddon and .mcworld auto-import while Bedrock is already running; closing the game is the safer workaround, although this is a reported behavior rather than a formal Mojang guarantee.
- Windows: open the file through the operating system after closing Minecraft if necessary.
- Android: use the file manager to locate the download and open it with Minecraft.
- iOS: tap the file or attachment and choose Open in Minecraft.
After import, a .mcpack appears under the applicable world’s Resource Packs or Behavior Packs tab. A .mcworld appears in the Play menu.
Experiments: use a copy, not your only survival world
To enable an experiment, open the world’s Game settings, scroll to Experiments, enable the required toggle and confirm with Turn on Experiments anyway. On an existing world, Minecraft automatically creates a copy named with “Copy of…” before the original world name. The copy receives an Experimental tag.
Microsoft states that an experimental world cannot be restored to a non-experimental state. Back up your world and do not enable experiments on an irreplaceable survival save simply to test an unverified pack.
Best Value

Testing an imported add-on
Commands are not required for Marketplace installation, but they can help test community packs. Enable cheats only in a test world because doing so can affect achievements.
/reload
/give @s namespace:item_name
/summon namespace:entity_name
/setblock ~ ~ ~ namespace:block
/function my_function
/script profiler start
/script profiler stop
/reload reloads behavior and resource packs. The other commands test custom items, entities, blocks and functions. The script profiler commands measure script performance.
Common problems and fixes
The pack does not appear
- The archive is malformed or was not correctly packaged as
.mcpackor.mcaddon. - Windows saved
manifest.jsonasmanifest.json.txtbecause file extensions were hidden. - The manifest contains duplicate or invalid UUIDs.
- Folders are nested incorrectly.
- The manifest or
min_engine_versionis incompatible with the installed game.
Re-download from the creator, verify the extension and manifest, and confirm that the pack targets your Bedrock branch.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe pack appears but does nothing
- Only the resource pack or only the behavior pack was activated.
- The behavior pack lacks its resource-pack dependency.
- Another pack overrides the same entity, item, block, texture or UI file.
- The pack is lower in the load order than a conflicting pack.
- An experiment is required but disabled.
- The pack was imported but not activated for this specific world.
Activate all required components, move the behavior pack above conflicting packs, and test with a minimal pack stack.
Too many packs cause conflicts
Pack stacking can cause one add-on to override another. Microsoft recommends no more than three add-ons for ordinary play because additional content can reduce performance or cause other issues. This is a recommendation, not a hard engine limit.
Version 26.30 breaks an older pack
Bedrock 26.30 introduced stricter validation for many entity behavior goals. Invalid data that previously loaded may now cause an entity’s JSON to fail. Custom-projectile functionality also moved beyond the experimental context in 26.30, but packs still need updates for the relevant format and API behavior. The 26.30 changelog also records fixes for crashes involving behavior packs with multiple custom dimensions and worlds that froze while loading certain resource packs.
Marketplace content will not download or activate
- Launch Minecraft.
- Open Settings.
- Select Storage.
- Select Clear Marketplace Cache.
- Restart Minecraft and try again.
Multiplayer, Realms and servers
Mojang’s support FAQ says add-ons work in single-player, multiplayer and Realms, but are not supported on personal, non-Realms servers. Bedrock Dedicated Server has a separate manual workflow using the server’s resource_packs and behavior_packs directories. Do not assume that a Marketplace add-on automatically works on every third-party server host.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →For a Realm, activate the packs on the Realm’s world slot. Other players joining from Bedrock devices then receive the Realm’s active add-ons automatically. For a Dedicated Server, follow the server-specific installation documentation and verify that the pack is suitable for server use.
Achievements and add-ons
Achievements can be disabled if a world has ever been set to Creative, is flat, has cheats enabled, uses experiments, uses certain Marketplace add-ons or uses certain world templates. Consequently, do not promise that an add-on preserves achievements merely because its listing says “achievement friendly.” Check Mojang’s current achievement rules and the exact add-on version, and test in a separate world if achievements matter.
Final recommendations
- Choose Better on Bedrock for the largest survival transformation.
- Choose Actions & Stuff for the best vanilla-style visual upgrade.
- Choose Naturalist for animals in an existing world.
- Choose Another Furniture Add-On for free decorative building content.
- Choose DragonFire Lite for a free dragon-themed starting point.
- Choose More Body Actions + Pickup & Carry! or System Dynamic Light for current-version utility features.
Whatever you install, check the creator’s target version, dependencies, experiments and multiplayer notes first, then test it on a copy of your world.
