Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to choose a seed for your build
- Prioritize a village:
-349144687has the closer reported village, useful if you want a settlement as a starting landmark. - Prioritize an igloo:
890765447has the nearer reported igloo, just 47 blocks southeast of spawn. - Pick the surrounding palette: Both listings include Snowy Taiga and Frozen River; the first also lists Taiga, while the second lists Plains. Nearby biome variety can help if you want to move between a winter build and a less snowy landscape.
- Treat terrain statistics as a filter: Both seeds are reported to have 73% level ground within 250 blocks, but that does not establish the shape or size of any one build plot.
- Match the seed to the edition: The detailed recommendations here are Bedrock-specific; do not assume their structure locations or coordinates work in Java Edition.
Check the biome and seed before committing
Confirm the build biome
If snow is part of the design, make sure the actual plot is in a biome where it can remain. Microsoft’s Survival Spawn Creation guidance advises matching a custom build to its intended biome, giving a cold biome for a snowy forest as an example so snow does not melt.
Test in the same edition and release
Create a fresh test world using the exact seed, edition, and game version you intend to play. Check that the spawn, relevant biome, village or igloo, and intended build plot are where you expect before beginning a long-term survival save. A current Bedrock seed roundup targets version 26.34 and warns that structure locations can change between releases; seed collections may also use different test versions. Check the roundup’s version notes.
Do not assume Java and Bedrock are interchangeable
Microsoft’s guidance describes Java/Bedrock landscape seed parity from version 1.18 only for seed values that are nine or fewer characters long. That limited statement does not establish that every seed, structure, or coordinate matches across editions. The two recommendations above are not Java-confirmed. Read Microsoft’s seed guidance.
