Better BuildBuy: best for finding catalog items
Better BuildBuy is the stronger all-purpose pick if your building process involves digging through the catalog. Its features include refined filters, organized debug and LiveEdit objects, an expandable catalog, favorites, kit filters, and controls for CC visibility. In practical terms, Better BuildBuy is useful when the object you want is difficult to locate, or when you want to browse items that are not readily visible in the ordinary catalog. Its integration with T.O.O.L. also makes it the relevant choice if you want to use that mod’s controls in Build/Buy mode.
T.O.O.L.: best for precise object placement
T.O.O.L. (“Takes Objects Off Lot”) is for builders who want more control over where an object goes. Its creator describes controls for position, elevation, rotation, and scale, including the ability to move objects on or off the lot. That makes it useful for unusual angles, repositioning or stacking objects, and constructing larger designs from smaller pieces. Consult the T.O.O.L. project page for the current feature description.

T.O.O.L. can be used in Live Mode on its own. If you want its Build/Buy mode integration, you also need Better BuildBuy. T.O.O.L. is therefore an optional, more specialized addition—not a mod every builder needs.

Check compatibility and install from the current source
Mod compatibility can change after a Sims 4 update. At the time of the project listings’ March 20, 2026 releases, CurseForge listed Better BuildBuy v4.4.3 and T.O.O.L. v3.2 for game version 1.122.212. Treat those as listing details, not a guarantee for your installation: check each project page against your installed game version before downloading.

For Better BuildBuy, TwistedMexi’s official page instructs users to follow the download post’s current directions and place the tmex-BetterBuildBuy folder directly in the Mods folder rather than nesting it inside another subfolder. Installation instructions can change, so follow the directions accompanying the download you use. Get the mod from TwistedMexi’s official page or its CurseForge project; use the T.O.O.L. project page for that mod.
