If you want the most substantial current overhaul for F1 Manager 2024, start with the community-made 2026 Season Mod. It updates the game’s starting point, drivers, ratings, teams, engines, regulations and cost-cap data, and supports both Create A Team and standard 10-team careers. It is not a simple one-file download, however: the complete package combines game files with database and save changes, and the database is no longer available through the editor’s Mods tab.
For a safer, more modular setup, combine a normal .pak mod with the community F1M24 Mod Manager, then add the 2026 mod’s recommended facepack and UI mod if you want the visual elements. Back up your saves first, use a fresh career for database changes, and do not assume that a mod made for an earlier release still uses the same installation method.

There is no reliable, current public ranking that establishes a larger list of “top” F1 Manager 2024 mods. 1. 2026 Season Mod: the best full-career overhaul
The 2026 Season Mod is the clear choice if you want to replace F1 Manager 2024’s original competitive landscape with a more current starting point. Its published feature set includes a late-2025 start, more than 50 added characters, revised driver ratings, updated team and engine performance, regulations and cost-cap data. It is designed to work with both Create A Team saves and ordinary careers using the game’s 10 existing teams. See the project’s current announcement and feature discussion on Reddit.
What makes it different from a normal .pak mod?
A conventional cosmetic or gameplay mod may work by placing a packaged .pak file in the game’s Paks directory. The 2026 update is more involved: its current package is a combination of game files and database/save changes. That distinction matters because a database overhaul cannot safely be dropped into the middle of an existing career.
The current update discussion says database versions cannot be changed safely during an existing career. Treat the 2026 mod as a new-save project, not as a mid-season upgrade for a career you care about. Manual edits to an individual save are a separate use case and should not be confused with applying the complete season database. The mod’s current instructions also identify an additional database setup step, so read the project’s Instruction Manual before troubleshooting. The relevant update discussion is here.
Recommended 2026 setup
- Back up every existing save and, ideally, disable or carefully manage Steam Cloud while testing so an unwanted save is not synchronised over your backup.
- Install the current game-file portion of the 2026 package according to its own Instruction Manual.
- Install the recommended facepack and UI mod only if their release notes match the current season package.
- Complete the database setup described by the current instructions. Do not use old guides that tell you to select the 2026 database from the editor’s Mods tab.
- Start a completely new career. Test it for several in-game weeks before investing time in a long-term save.
The earlier published workflow told users to upload a fresh save to the database editor, open its Mods tab and apply the 2026 changes. That advice is now outdated: the 2026 database was removed from the editor because of instability. The mod team reported hundreds of crash and broken-save reports, including users unable to progress beyond the Canada race. Do not follow the old Mods-tab workflow unless the project explicitly restores it in a newer announcement; the removal is documented in the current mod statement.

The 2026 project recommends a facepack and a UI mod hosted through OverTake. They are best understood as companion downloads rather than independent alternatives to the season overhaul. The facepack helps the newly added or revised personnel fit the updated database visually, while the UI mod is intended to make the interface match the new content.

Install these only after checking the current package’s instructions. Custom faces can involve UE4SS-related files, and the helmet system has known limitations: some custom driver helmets do not appear in certain cutscenes. A face or helmet that appears in one menu but not another is not necessarily evidence that the entire installation failed.
Assets can also be separate from database entries. For example, driver-specific helmet files may remain visible after other Cadillac-related data has been removed. Removing a team or database entry therefore does not guarantee that every associated visual asset disappears.
3. F1M24 Mod Manager: the best way to manage compatible mods
The community F1M24 Mod Manager is useful when you expect to test several mods rather than copy files manually every time. Its documented interface includes a Home page, Paks page, UE4SS page, Browse OverTake page, Settings page and Launch game control. It also supports dragging and dropping .zip and .rar archives. - Game directory: the folder containing your F1 Manager 2024 installation;
- Repository directory: where the manager stores or stages mod files;
- OverTake login: if you want to use the manager’s OverTake browsing or download workflow.
The manager simplifies file handling, but it does not make incompatible mods compatible. Keep a record of which files each package adds, especially when a mod uses UE4SS, dwmapi.dll, custom faces or other files outside the ordinary Paks folder.

Using the database editor safely
The database editor at f1dbeditor.com remains useful for manual save editing. Its documented uses include changing driver and staff attributes and other data stored in a save. It should not currently be presented as a one-click way to install the complete 2026 Season Mod: that database was removed from the editor’s Mods catalog after instability reports.

Manual editor workflow
- Create a clean backup copy of the save you intend to edit.
- Confirm that the save is in one of the documented SaveGames locations.
- Upload or open the save in the editor.
- Change only the attributes or records you understand.
- Download the edited save and place it back in the correct save directory, keeping the original backup separate.
- Load the edited save and test it before making further changes.
If saves do not appear or the editor reports “cannot connect to backend”, first check the save path, file availability, browser connection and whether Steam Cloud has placed the current copy elsewhere. That message does not prove that the save itself is corrupt.
Compatibility rules that prevent most problems
- Use a new career for database changes. A database version is not safely switchable in an existing career.
- Do not change the start date in the database editor. Community reports associate that edit with Unreal Engine crashes.
- Test one variable at a time. A season database, UI package, facepack, UE4SS and DLL files make fault-finding difficult when installed together.
- Read the current manual, not an old installation post. In particular, the old instruction to apply the 2026 database from the Mods tab is no longer current.
- Check the Lite database’s limitations. The current Lite version is intended to stay closer to the base game’s development and research behaviour, but its authors do not guarantee that performance edits made in the DB Editor will work in-game.
- Verify version assumptions. The official update page available in the research documents Update 1.7, while SteamDB records Update 1.8 on October 8, 2024. No newer official F1 Manager 2024 patch was verified in those sources, so confirm the mod’s compatibility with your installed build before updating or downgrading files. Troubleshooting the 2026 Season Mod
The game crashes or the save will not progress
Stop using the affected save and restore the backup before trying more edits. The previous editor-distributed 2026 database produced widespread instability, including crashes and broken saves around the Canada race. Do not attempt to repair a broken career by repeatedly applying the same database. Recheck that you are using the current package and start a new test career.
The Car Development screen is blank
One community report says that removing ue4ss and dwmapi.dll restored the Car Development screen. The same report says this also removed some custom driver faces, and that putting the files back restored those faces. This is a reported case-specific workaround, not a universal fix. Make a backup, remove only the implicated files, test the screen, and restore them if the result is worse. The report is recorded in the community troubleshooting discussion.
The game crashes at Suzuka
Suzuka crashes have been reported with the 2026 mod alongside UE4SS and other files. One user reported that increasing graphics settings to High stopped the crashes, but this is not an official or confirmed universal fix. Test the graphics change only after backing up the save, and also test without optional companion files to identify whether the problem is a file conflict.

Faces or helmets are missing
Check whether the issue affects menus, race presentation or only cutscenes. Some custom helmets are known not to appear in certain cutscenes. Face assets may also depend on UE4SS, while helmet files can remain independently active after database or team data has been removed. Reinstall the matching facepack, verify its required files and avoid treating one missing cutscene asset as proof that the database failed.
UE4SS needs to be reinstalled after an update
The current update statement says UE4SS did not change, so users applying that update do not need to reinstall it. Reinstall only when the current instructions specifically require it or when your installation is damaged; unnecessary reinstallations add another opportunity for version and file conflicts.
Which setup should you choose?
- Choose the 2026 Season Mod if your priority is a new, current-style career and you are willing to begin a fresh save and follow a multi-part installation.
- Add the facepack and UI mod if the core season update works and you want the visual presentation to match it.
- Use F1M24 Mod Manager if you regularly install, remove or test compatible packages and want centralised settings and archive handling.
- Use the database editor manually for controlled driver, staff or save-data adjustments—not for applying the removed 2026 database catalog entry.
- Stay with a Lite database if preserving behaviour closer to the base game’s development and research systems matters more than guaranteed performance-edit support.
- Install nothing into an established career if you cannot accept the risk of a broken save. Database overhauls are best treated as separate career profiles.
