The ASUS ROG Swift PG32UCWM is a strong game-specific choice because reviewers found Cyberpunk 2077’s neon night scenes spectacular on it, although its approximately 250-nit full-screen brightness is restrained for an OLED HDR display (PC Gamer review).
A 27-inch 1440p OLED is better value for a midrange GPU, while a 34-inch 3440×1440 OLED gives PC-only players a wider cinematic view. If you play in a bright room, keep static desktop windows visible all day, or are particularly concerned about OLED burn-in, a Mini-LED or good IPS monitor is the safer fit.

Why this game rewards a better monitor
Phantom Liberty combines dark streets and interiors with small, intense sources of light: neon signs, headlights, explosions and bright windows. A suitable monitor therefore needs more than a large refresh-rate number.
#1 Best Overall
- 27-inch 4K Display with Dual Mode Performance: Features UHD resolution (3840 x 2160) with versatile dual mode capability allowing switch between 4K at 80Hz or FHD at 310Hz via hotkey for esports performance
- Ultra-Fast Response Time: 0.3ms GTG (min.) response time delivers smooth gameplay, and ASUS Extreme Low Motion Blur (ELMB) technology further reduces ghosting and motion blur
- Adaptive Sync Technology: NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible and AMD FreeSync with exclusive Variable Overdrive technology ensure seamless, tear-free gaming experience
- DisplayWidget Center Control: Enables easy monitor settings adjustments with a mouse for convenient configuration and customization
- TUF Gaming A.I Technology: AI-powered features enhance gaming experience with intelligent optimization and performance adjustments
- HDR highlight control: bright signs and headlights should look intense without blowing out nearby detail.
- Black reproduction: OLED pixels can switch off individually, preserving deep shadows in nighttime scenes and menus.
- Wide color: saturated neon and colored lighting benefit from a wide gamut and accurate tone mapping.
- VRR and response: adaptive sync and fast pixels smooth the fluctuating frame rates produced by a demanding open-world game.
- Resolution: more pixels reveal fine environmental detail, but only if your GPU can render or upscale it well.
- Connectivity: HDMI 2.1 matters when the same display will serve a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S.
A 540Hz esports monitor may be faster on paper, but it is generally a poor use of money for a cinematic, GPU-heavy RPG unless competitive games are also a major priority.
Best overall: ASUS ROG Swift PG32UCWM
The PG32UCWM fits the strongest general target: 32-inch 4K OLED at 240Hz with adaptive sync and modern high-bandwidth connectivity. PC Gamer’s review specifically praises the way Cyberpunk 2077’s nighttime HDR looks on it, making it a defensible editorial winner for this game.
Its qualification is important. The same review cites approximately 250 nits of full-screen brightness. That can make small highlights spectacular while a mostly bright HDR scene appears less forceful than it would on a strong Mini-LED LCD. Choose it when dark-scene contrast and cinematic image quality matter more than sustained brightness, and when your graphics card can make meaningful use of 4K.
Before purchase, check the manufacturer’s current OLED-care routine, automatic brightness behavior, burn-in warranty and regional model number. The “best overall” label applies to these priorities, not to every room, GPU or use case.
Choose by GPU and target resolution
| Display choice | Choose it if you… | Main advantage | Main drawback |
|---|---|---|---|
| 32-inch 4K OLED | Own a high-end GPU and want maximum detail with ray tracing | Sharp desktop image, OLED contrast and long-term headroom | Native 4K ray tracing or path tracing is demanding |
| 27-inch 1440p OLED | Have a midrange GPU or prioritize higher real-world frame rates | Easier performance target, excellent contrast and usually lower cost | Less detail and desktop pixel density |
| 34-inch 3440×1440 OLED | Want a wider, more cinematic PC experience | Immersive field of view for RPGs and simulations | Fewer vertical pixels, possible compatibility work and weaker console fit |
| 4K Mini-LED or IPS | Play in a bright room or keep static desktop content visible all day | Higher sustained brightness and no OLED burn-in mechanism | Blooming and less consistent blacks than OLED |
High-end GPU
A current high-end GPU is the natural partner for 4K OLED, especially with ray tracing or path tracing. Nvidia’s Phantom Liberty material discusses 4K and 1440p targets, DLSS, ray tracing and frame generation on RTX hardware (Nvidia). Those figures came from specific hardware, settings and a pre-release build; Nvidia notes that final performance can vary, so they are not universal 2026 benchmarks.
Midrange GPU
A 1440p OLED is usually the balanced choice. A 4K screen can still be worthwhile for desktop work and other games, but expect to use upscaling, reduce ray-tracing settings or accept lower frame rates. “4K monitor” does not mean the game will always be rendered natively at 4K.

- Immersive 4K QD-OLED Display: 32-inch 4K (3840 x 2160) QD-OLED gaming monitor with 240 Hz refresh rate and 0.03 ms (GTG) response time for immersive gaming
- Advanced Heat Management System: Highly efficient custom heatsink, advanced airflow design, and graphene film for better heat management to reduce the risk of burn-in
- Exceptional HDR Performance: VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Black compliance, 99% DCI-P3 gamut, true 10-bit, and Delta E < 2 color difference for astonishing HDR performance
- Uniform Brightness Setting: Optional uniform brightness setting ensures consistent luminance levels across the entire display
- Convenient Monitor Control: DisplayWidget Center allows users to access OLED Care functions, as well as adjust monitor settings with a mouse
Older GPU
Prefer a 1440p high-refresh IPS or OLED over paying a premium for 4K/240Hz that will normally run at 1440p or aggressive upscaling.
How much refresh rate do you need?
- 120–165Hz: sufficient for most single-player players and current consoles.
- 240Hz: a sensible premium target if the monitor will also serve competitive games.
- 360Hz or more: usually unnecessary for a display bought mainly for Cyberpunk 2077.
- 540Hz or 720Hz: esports-focused choices unless competitive gaming is the dominant use.
Refresh rate is a ceiling, not a performance guarantee. A 240Hz panel does not make Phantom Liberty run at 240 frames per second. With demanding ray tracing, a stable 80–144fps experience may be the more realistic premium target. Frame generation can raise the displayed rate, but it does not remove the need for a responsive underlying frame rate.

OLED strengths
OLED offers near-black pixels, very high perceived contrast, extremely fast response and saturated color without the conventional haloing of an LCD backlight. Those properties are especially visible in Night City’s dark streets and neon lighting. QD-OLED reviews of the MSI MPG 322UR X24 and Alienware AW3426DW use Cyberpunk 2077 scenes as HDR showcases (MSI review; Alienware review).
OLED limitations
- Sustained full-screen HDR brightness is often lower than on Mini-LED.
- Automatic brightness limiting can change luminance in large bright scenes.
- Glossy coatings can reflect windows and lamps.
- Subpixel layouts may produce colored fringing around small text.
- Static desktop elements create a burn-in or image-retention consideration.
Use pixel-refresh routines, avoid leaving bright static interfaces on screen unnecessarily, vary desktop content where practical, and read the exact manufacturer warranty. No panel-care feature guarantees immunity, and retailer protection plans are separate from the manufacturer’s policy.
Mini-LED or IPS strengths
Choose LCD technology when room lighting is strong, the display will show static productivity windows for many hours, or sustained full-screen brightness matters more than perfect blacks. Local dimming can still produce blooming, and dark-scene uniformity and pixel response may not match OLED.
QD-OLED versus WOLED
QD-OLED often delivers especially vivid color volume, while WOLED models can have different brightness behavior, coatings and subpixel arrangements. Neither label determines the entire experience. Firmware, heatsink design, tone mapping, brightness limiting, text rendering and warranty can matter more than the acronym.

- Quality Visuals: The VG270K 27" IPS monitor with 3840 x 2160 UHD resolution in a 16:9 aspect ratio presents stunning, high-quality images with excellent detail. The zero-frame design does away with the thick frames found on conventional monitors freeing up precious screen space.
- AMD FreeSync Premium Technology: Say “goodbye” to stuttering and tearing. With AMD FreeSync Premium, the monitor’s frames are synced with the graphics card’s frames, which eliminates screen tearing and provides the smoothest gaming experience.
- Quick Refresh Rate: Different content has different refresh rate and resolution requirements. If you are playing an FPS or racing game, you will need a monitor with a high refresh rate. However, if you are doing office work or streaming videos, a higher resolution will be more beneficial. With DFR technology, users can choose a higher resolution, or a higher refresh rate based on what is suitable for them.
- Responsive: Up to 0.5ms GTG (Gray to Gray) response time enhanced gamers’ in-game experience. No matter if the fast-moving action or any dramatic transitions will be rendered smoothly without the annoying effects of smearing or ghosting.
- ZeroFrame Design: With a Nitro VG270K monitor, you’ll want to see as much of the display as possible. Get more real estate with the near bezel-less design, allowing you to see more and do more. The ZeroFrame design lets you place multiple monitors next to each other for a seamless, almost uninterrupted view.
16:9 or 21:9 ultrawide?
16:9
Use 16:9 for 4K sharpness, consoles, broad game support, standard video and easier desk placement. It is the least complicated choice for a mixed PC-and-console setup.
21:9
A 3440×1440 OLED such as the Alienware AW3426DW or ASUS PG34WCDN can make Cyberpunk 2077 feel more enveloping. Reviews of both displays identify the game as a strong ultrawide showcase (ASUS review; Alienware review).
Check in-game ultrawide support, HUD scaling, cutscene behavior and any mod requirement. 3440×1440 has fewer vertical pixels than 4K, consoles are generally less convenient on 21:9, and the wider chassis needs sufficient desk depth.
What the official requirements do—and do not—tell you
CD Projekt Red’s PC requirements update separates 1080p and 4K targets and distinguishes ray-traced modes, applying the guidance to Phantom Liberty (CD Projekt Red, updated June 11, 2023). Those requirements are not a 2026 performance benchmark: they do not predict every current GPU’s frame rate under each combination of ray tracing, path tracing, upscaling, frame generation, driver and game version.

- Connect the display with an appropriate HDMI 2.1 or DisplayPort cable for the intended resolution and refresh rate.
- Enable adaptive sync in the monitor and in Nvidia Control Panel or AMD Software, then confirm the usable VRR range.
- Set the operating system and game to HDR only when the monitor is receiving an HDR signal, following the manufacturer’s current guidance.
- Choose the monitor’s accurate HDR mode rather than a saturated “vivid” or FPS preset.
- Run the operating system HDR calibration and then calibrate Cyberpunk 2077’s paper-white, peak-brightness and black-level controls for this particular panel.
- If necessary, cap the game below the maximum refresh rate to keep VRR engaged.
Do not copy fixed HDR slider values from another display. OLED and Mini-LED monitors differ substantially in peak brightness, tone mapping and black-level behavior.

Troubleshooting common problems
HDR looks dim in bright scenes
Separate small-window highlight brightness from sustained full-screen brightness. OLED can make a headlight or sign brilliant while limiting a mostly white scene. Automatic brightness limiting is a design behavior, not automatically a fault.
HDR is gray, washed out or overblown
- Confirm that the monitor is receiving an HDR signal.
- Check GPU resolution, refresh rate, color format and dynamic-range output.
- Update monitor firmware and GPU drivers.
- Reset the monitor’s HDR mode.
- Re-run operating-system HDR calibration.
- Reset the game’s HDR controls and adjust from a neutral baseline.
Menu names vary by monitor firmware and operating-system version.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Text appears frayed
Colored edges around text can result from the OLED subpixel layout. If you read or edit documents for much of the day, inspect the display in person or consult text-rendering measurements before buying.
240Hz appears wasted
That is normal when the game runs below 240fps. The extra headroom becomes valuable for competitive games or future upgrades; it is not required for a good single-player experience.
Console considerations
Cyberpunk 2077 is available on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S; CD Projekt Red’s Update 2.1 notes identify those platforms alongside PC (official patch notes). Console buyers should prioritize HDMI 2.1, 4K at 120Hz, VRR, console HDR support and a screen size appropriate to viewing distance. A DisplayPort-focused 240Hz monitor may offer little console benefit if its HDMI inputs lack the required bandwidth.
Quick Recap
