There is no single best graphics preset for every PC or Steam Deck: the right balance depends on your hardware, resolution, frame-rate target, and whether image quality, steadiness, or battery use matters most. For PC, start by checking your system against the game’s current Steam requirements; if it meets the minimum but not recommended specifications, Capcom advises lowering graphics settings. On Steam Deck, an August 2022 community configuration offers a starting point—not a guaranteed result on every Deck or game update.
Start with your target, not a universal preset
Choose what “smooth” means for your play session before changing settings: a frame rate that stays near your chosen cap, sharper or more detailed visuals, or lower power use in handheld play. Then test changes in a repeatable way: note the frame rate and image quality in a particular area, change one setting, revisit the same area, and keep the change only if it improves your chosen balance.
Steam’s current PC store listing gives a baseline of 1080p at 30fps on Low graphics settings in its additional notes. This is a published requirements statement, not a promise that every PC will maintain that result in every area. Steam store listing
How to improve Monster Hunter Rise performance on PC
Check your PC against the game’s requirements
Compare the CPU, graphics card, and memory in your PC with the current minimum and recommended requirements on Steam. Capcom’s troubleshooting guidance directs players to the Steam Store requirements for this check. If a system falls below minimum requirements, lowering settings cannot be relied on to fix poor frame rates or startup problems; Capcom says either can result from not meeting the minimum. If you meet minimum but not recommended requirements
Reduce graphics settings and retest. Capcom’s guidance is: “If you do meet the minimum specifications but not the recommended specifications, you may want to try turning down the graphics settings, if you haven’t already.” Start with settings that visibly affect detail or rendering load, and adjust one at a time so you can tell what changed. If performance remains uneven
Retest in the same area after each adjustment rather than judging a setting from a different encounter or location. If reducing a setting does not improve the frame-rate behavior you care about, restore it and try another. The available official guidance supports checking requirements and lowering settings, but it does not identify one graphics option or hardware upgrade as the answer for every PC.

Best settings for Monster Hunter Rise on Steam Deck
A Steam Community guide posted in August 2022 suggests the following as an initial configuration. It is one player’s report, not an official preset or a current controlled comparison; treat it as a set of options to test on your own Deck.
| Game setting | Community guide’s suggested value |
|---|---|
| Image Quality | 100% |
| High Resolution Textures | On |
| Texture Filtering | Low |
| Ambient Occlusion | On |
| Shadow Quality | Low |
| Dynamic Shadows | Off |
| Equipment Shadows | On |
| Mesh Quality | Average |
The guide’s author reported a local comparison of 33fps with Dynamic Shadows on versus 60fps with them off at a Flooded Forest spawn in 2022. That is an anecdote from one location and setup, not a general benchmark or a frame-rate guarantee.

Deck performance controls are optional experiments
The same August 2022 guide reported using a 60fps/60Hz cap, Half Rate Shading on, and a manual GPU clock of 1200–1400 in Steam Deck Quick Access. These are user-reported device choices, not settings every Deck should use. Adjust or skip them if they cause instability or do not suit your target; avoid treating the reported cap as proof the game will hold 60fps throughout.
The guide’s author also observed that forcing FSR through the Deck scaling filter could improve performance while introducing frame-time stuttering. Try it only if that tradeoff works for you, and revert it if the uneven pacing is more distracting than the performance change. Steam Community: Steam Deck Settings/Performance Guide

- Valve is entering the gaming console marketplace with the new Steam Deck, a console geared towards PC gamers. The Steam Deck can be docked to a monitor, and used as a PC, or docked to a TV.
- Players can play a huge variety of games at any time with the comfort of a console and the freedom of a PC. Not anti-glare screen.
- Like the name suggests, the Steam Deck will include upgraded 1TB storage, and will include a carrying case. A micro SD slot will also enable expanded storage.
- Valve partnered with AMD to create a specialized APU optimized for handheld gaming, and Valve says the chip will deliver performance to run AAA gaming titles.
- The Steam Deck is outfitted with a 7-inch touchscreen, and two trackpads under the control sticks that allow gamers to operate games never designed outside of mouse and keyboard capabilities.
Balance frame rate, visuals, and handheld power use
For a steadier frame rate, prioritize repeatable performance in the same area over a high number seen briefly. For image quality, consider whether resolution, texture detail, or shadows matter most to you before lowering them. On Deck, assess power use separately from frame-rate tuning: the available figures do not establish current controlled battery-life results, so no setting here can promise a specific runtime.
For exact menu navigation, Capcom’s manual search result places advanced rendering options under Options > Display > Advanced Graphics Settings; the manual page itself was not available to confirm further interface details. Capcom Monster Hunter Rise manual

Quick Recap
A repeatable tuning checklist
- Pick a priority. Decide whether you are tuning for frame-rate stability, image quality, or handheld power use.
- Record a baseline. Note the frame rate and visual quality in a specific area under your current settings.
- Change one setting. On PC, lower graphics settings if your system meets minimum but not recommended requirements. On Deck, try the community configuration as a starting point.
- Retest the same area. Compare like with like, including pacing and image quality, rather than relying on a result from a different location.
- Keep or revert. Keep a change only if it improves the balance you chose; otherwise restore it and test another adjustment.
