1. Into the Breach — best overall
Into the Breach is the safest recommendation for most serious mobile players. Its compact, turn-based battles take place on an 8-by-8 grid, so the game does not depend on split-second touchscreen reactions. You can study the battlefield, predict enemy attacks, and choose a response at your own pace.
#1 Best Overall
- Unlimited movies, TV shows, and more. Watch anywhere. Cancel anytime.
- Give the gift of entertainment so your friends and family can stream unlimited films and Netflix original series. Whether your loved one already has a Netflix account or they will be creating a new account, they can use a Netflix gift card toward their membership.
- No credit card is required to redeem a gift code.
- Codes are applied to your account as a gift balance
- Redemption: Online
That makes it unusually well suited to phones: battles are compact, the interface is readable, and the game can be paused freely. The rules are simple enough to learn, but every move can have lasting consequences. Losing a run is part of the design rather than evidence that the game has failed you; each attempt teaches you more about positioning, enemy patterns, and squad abilities.
Best for: strategy fans, commuters, replayability seekers, and players who want meaningful decisions in short sessions.
Watch out for: its unforgiving structure. Anyone looking for a relaxed, low-stakes puzzle game may find it demanding. Netflix has changed its catalog repeatedly, so verify that the title is still listed in your region before relying on this recommendation.

2. Dead Cells: Netflix Edition — best action game
Dead Cells is the pick for players who want fast combat, platforming, repeated attempts, and a high skill ceiling. The Netflix Edition bundled the base game with previously released expansions including The Bad Seed, Rise of the Giant, Fatal Falls, The Queen and the Sea, and Return to Castlevania, according to Netflix’s game coverage.
It is much more substantial than a typical casual mobile game. Runs encourage experimentation with weapons and builds, while permanent unlocks give repeated failures a sense of progress. The combat is responsive and rewarding once the controls become familiar.
Best for: roguelite fans, action players, and anyone who enjoys mastering difficult systems.
Trade-offs: touch controls are not equally comfortable on every phone, especially during hectic fights. A larger screen or compatible controller may help, but controller support should be checked for the specific device and title. The difficulty is intentional, so this is a poor first choice for players who dislike repeated failure.
3. Spiritfarer — best story-driven comfort game
Spiritfarer replaces combat-focused progression with exploration, boat-building, crafting, relationships, and care for the spirits in your charge. You play as a ferrymaster helping characters reach the afterlife, which gives the game a gentle visual style but emotionally serious subject matter.
Its deliberate pace makes it a good fit for players who want to settle into a world rather than chase constant objectives. The management systems provide structure, while conversations and character arcs carry the emotional weight.
Rank #2
- Unlimited movies, TV shows, and more. Watch anywhere. Cancel anytime.
- Give the gift of entertainment so your friends and family can stream unlimited films and Netflix original series. Whether your loved one already has a Netflix account or they will be creating a new account, they can use a Netflix gift card toward their membership.
- No credit card is required to redeem a gift code.
- Redemption: Online
- No Returns and Refunds on Gift Cards
Best for: narrative-game fans, relaxed players, and people who enjoy exploration and light management.
Watch out for: themes of grief, death, and letting go. It is comforting in places, but not emotionally lightweight. Players seeking immediate action should choose Dead Cells instead.
4. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas — best open-world game
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition offered one of Netflix’s most substantial mobile experiences. It is the right choice for players who want a long campaign, driving, missions, exploration, and the familiar structure of a traditional blockbuster open-world game.
Netflix included entries from the Grand Theft Auto trilogy, but the recommendation should be made for a specific title rather than implying that every entry is always available everywhere. Check the Netflix listing in your territory before downloading.
Best for: players who want a large-scale single-player adventure and do not mind older design conventions.
Trade-offs: the download can require substantial storage, touchscreen driving and combat may feel awkward, and the game contains mature content. Device performance also matters more than it does for a turn-based title.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →5. Oxenfree II: Lost Signals — best narrative game
Oxenfree II: Lost Signals is a story-first adventure from Night School Studio, which Netflix identified as one of its first internally developed releases. Its appeal comes from dialogue, atmosphere, exploration, and choices rather than complex combat or extensive character-building systems.
It is a strong recommendation for viewers who enjoy supernatural television drama and want a game with a similarly conversational, episodic feel. The sequel can be approached as its own story, although familiarity with the first Oxenfree can add context.
Best for: players who prioritize writing, mood, exploration, and narrative choices.
Rank #3
- Unlimited movies, TV shows, and more. Watch anywhere. Cancel anytime.
- Give the gift of entertainment so your friends and family can stream unlimited films and Netflix original series. Whether your loved one already has a Netflix account or they will be creating a new account, they can use a Netflix gift card toward their membership.
- No credit card is required to redeem a gift code.
- Codes are applied to your account as a gift balance. Gift codes can be added to any plan, regardless of the amount.
- Redemption: Online
Watch out for: its slower pace and limited mechanical variety. Do not choose it expecting the constant action of Dead Cells or the open-ended systems of GTA: San Andreas.
6. Game Dev Tycoon — best management game
Game Dev Tycoon is an accessible business simulation about building a game studio. You choose projects, balance design priorities, manage development, and try to turn a small operation into a successful company. Its menus and incremental decisions make it especially suitable for short, repeat sessions.
The Netflix edition added the ability to make games based on films and television series, along with story events inspired by game development, as described in Netflix’s announcement.
Best for: optimization fans and players who prefer planning to reflexes.
Trade-offs: its spreadsheet-like structure will not appeal to everyone, and its visual presentation is less dramatic than the action games on this list.

7. Best puzzle games: Monument Valley, with a major availability warning
Monument Valley and Monument Valley 2 were among the most approachable and elegant puzzle games associated with Netflix’s 2025 catalog. Their optical-illusion architecture, compact levels, and low-pressure interaction made them excellent choices for casual players, families, and anyone wanting a visually polished game without combat.
However, the trilogy—including Monument Valley 3—was reported as removed from Netflix during July 2025. Reported removal coverage also noted that Monument Valley 3 later became available on other platforms. These games belong in a historical 2025 roundup, not an unqualified “available now” list.
Best for: casual players and puzzle fans who prefer short, low-pressure experiences.
Trade-offs: the games are relatively short and less replayable after their puzzles are solved. If permanent access matters, a standalone purchase may be more appropriate than a subscription version when available.

8. Best Netflix games for families and groups on TV
Netflix’s TV games are a separate category from its solo mobile catalog. During 2025, the TV rollout highlighted games such as LEGO Party!, Boggle Party, Pictionary: Game Night, Tetris Time Warp, and Party Crashers. These games use a phone or tablet as the controller, allowing a group to play on a television without a dedicated gamepad.
They are better suited to a family gathering or casual game night than a demanding single-player game. On a supported TV or streaming device, the basic setup is:
- Open Netflix and find the Games row.
- Select a TV-compatible game and choose Play Game.
- Scan the QR code shown on the TV with an Android phone or iPhone or iPad.
- Follow the pairing instructions and use the phone as the controller.
Netflix’s TV and computer experience remained a beta feature and was not available in every country, on every device, or for every account. Netflix recommends download speeds of at least 10 Mbps for TV play; a stable home network is also important. See Netflix’s TV setup guide for the current procedure.
Family warning: Netflix says games are not available through Kids profiles. Use an adult or standard profile, and check each game’s age rating and content before handing over a device.
The best games Netflix offered that left in 2025
The biggest weakness in many “best Netflix games” lists is that they treat the catalog as permanent. Several highly regarded games left during 2025, so they should be separated from recommendations that readers could reasonably expect to find.
- Hades: one of the service’s strongest premium games, combining fast combat, roguelike replayability, and character-driven storytelling. It was reported as leaving Netflix on July 1, 2025.
- Monument Valley, Monument Valley 2, and Monument Valley 3: elegant optical-illusion puzzle games reported as removed around July 2025.
- Death’s Door: a stylish action-adventure game that was part of the reported removals.
- Braid: Anniversary Edition: a time-manipulation puzzle platformer included in removal reports.
- Katana ZERO: a fast, demanding action platformer also reported as leaving.
- The Case of the Golden Idol and The Rise of the Golden Idol: investigative deduction games named among the titles removed.
- Raji: An Ancient Epic and Rainbow Six: Smol: additional titles included in reporting about the 2025 changes.
These removals do not mean the games were poor choices. They show why Netflix availability should be treated as a dated snapshot. A downloaded Netflix edition may stop authenticating or remain inaccessible after a license ends, so check the current listing rather than relying on an old installation. Removal dates and title lists are based on reporting, including developer and removal-date coverage.
What Netflix Games includes
“Netflix game” can describe several different things:
- A game developed by Netflix-owned or Netflix-affiliated studios.
- A title commissioned or published through Netflix.
- A licensed mobile version of an existing premium game.
- A game based on a Netflix film or series.
- A TV or browser game introduced through Netflix’s newer beta gaming experience.
This distinction matters. Oxenfree II represents Netflix’s internally developed narrative effort, while Dead Cells, Into the Breach, and other premium titles demonstrate the value of licensing acclaimed games. A game being in the Netflix app does not automatically mean Netflix created it.

No. They are included with a paid Netflix membership. Netflix says mobile games have no advertisements, extra game fees, or in-app purchases, but an active subscription is still required. There is no separate purchase for an included title, yet access is dependent on Netflix continuing to offer that game.
Best Value
- Unlimited movies, TV shows, and more. Watch anywhere. Cancel anytime.
- Give the gift of entertainment so your friends and family can stream unlimited films and Netflix original series. Whether your loved one already has a Netflix account or they will be creating a new account, they can use a Netflix gift card toward their membership.
- No credit card is required to redeem a gift code.
- Codes are applied to your account as a gift balance. Gift codes can be added to any plan, regardless of the amount.
- Redemption: Online
This makes Netflix particularly good value for an existing subscriber who wants several premium mobile games. It is a weaker proposition for someone considering a subscription solely to play one title, especially because licensed games can leave the catalog. Check the game’s current availability before signing up specifically for it.
Devices and requirements
Netflix’s stated mobile requirements include:
- Android: phones and tablets running Android 8.0 or later.
- Apple devices: iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch running iOS or iPadOS 15 or later.
- An active Netflix membership.
- An internet connection to download and install games.
- Enough available storage.
Individual games may impose additional requirements. Large 3D games are more sensitive to device performance and storage than simple puzzle or strategy titles. Netflix availability can also vary by country and operating-system version, so the app-store listing is the final practical check.
Netflix expanded games to supported TVs and Netflix.com during 2025, but the TV and computer experience was still a beta rollout. It required a compatible TV or streaming device, a stable connection, and a phone or tablet to act as the controller.
How to start a Netflix game on mobile
- Open Netflix and select a non-Kids profile.
- Find the Games row or open a game from Netflix.
- Choose the option to get or download the title.
- Install it through the device’s app store.
- Open the game and sign in through Netflix if prompted.
- Use the same Netflix profile if you want progress associated with that profile.
Netflix says progress may be retained through cloud saves or locally on the device, depending on the game and circumstances. Saves from a game purchased or downloaded elsewhere cannot be transferred to the Netflix edition, so previous progress may not carry over.
When Netflix Games does not work
- The Games row is missing: your country, account, TV, streaming device, or beta access may not be supported.
- The game is absent from the app store: it may not be available in your region, on your device, or for your operating-system version.
- The TV controller will not connect: restart Netflix, rescan the QR code, make sure the phone and TV are on a stable network, and confirm that the title supports TV play.
- Your progress is missing: verify that you are using the same Netflix account and profile.
- An old save is unavailable: progress from another storefront’s edition cannot be transferred to the Netflix version.
- A Kids profile cannot access games: switch to an adult or standard profile.
- A downloaded game no longer works: the title may have left Netflix or the license may have expired. Check the current catalog listing.
Is Netflix worth it for games?
Yes, if you already subscribe. The combination of premium games, no ads, and no in-game purchases makes Netflix unusually compelling for mobile players who want variety without buying each title separately.
Maybe, if games are the main reason you are considering Netflix. First verify that the specific game is available in your country and on your device. Do not assume that a title announced in 2025 remains in the catalog.
No, if you require permanent ownership or a stable catalog. A separate purchase is generally a better fit for players who want guaranteed long-term access, transferable saves, or freedom from licensing changes. Netflix is also not the ideal choice for someone seeking high-end controller support across every title.
Bottom line
For the 2025 Netflix catalog, start with Into the Breach for strategy, Dead Cells: Netflix Edition for action, Spiritfarer for story and relaxation, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for a large open world, and Oxenfree II for narrative atmosphere. Choose LEGO Party!, Boggle Party, or another TV-compatible party game for groups.
Just verify availability before downloading or subscribing for a specific title. Netflix’s strongest games were often licensed premium releases, and 2025 proved that even the best games on the service may not stay there.
