There is no officially verified “best” Ninjala setup for every player. Start with a button preset you can use comfortably, customize only the actions that feel awkward, and decide whether gyro movement and your current camera view feel natural. Set TV or Handheld Mode to match how you are playing, and check options before a match because miscellaneous settings cannot be changed mid-battle.
What are the best Ninjala settings?
The official Ninjala materials document control presets, custom button mapping, motion controls, and display modes, but do not name one universally best layout or publish recommended camera or gyro sensitivity values. Use comfort and consistency as your criteria: you should be able to reach important actions reliably and keep opponents in view without uncomfortable camera movement.

Ninjala offers button presets and lets you customize all buttons, according to the Ninjala System Settings manual. Its Season 5 announcement describes Control Type E as a beginner-oriented preset that adjusts Auto-Target, Reset Camera, Gum Utsusemi, and button settings; that makes it an onboarding option, not a universal recommendation: Ninjala Season 5 announcement.
How do I change controls in Ninjala?
Open the game’s Options menu to choose a preset or customize buttons. The official manual notes that miscellaneous settings cannot be changed during a battle, so make and check changes before you start a match.

- Change only the buttons that feel awkward, then use that layout long enough to build consistency before making further changes.
- Confirm any other settings before entering a battle; miscellaneous options are unavailable mid-battle.
Should I use motion controls in Ninjala?
Gyro is optional. The Ninjala manual says, “Gyroscope controls will track the tilting and movement of your controller and allow you to adjust your viewpoint.” It requires a controller with a gyroscope sensor; the manual does not give a universal sensitivity value. How do I change the camera in Ninjala?
Choose a view based on whether you can keep opponents visible comfortably. The official manual documents sky, fixed-stage, and behind-the-player angles for spectators, and describes a ZL then A shortcut for changing spectator camera settings. That documentation does not establish a best battle camera angle or prove that spectator camera controls are identical to battle settings. If your current mode lets you choose a view, try the available options and use the one that makes opponents easiest to follow without uncomfortable movement.
Which display mode should I use?
Match the game’s display mode to how the Switch is being used: Ninjala’s manual says to use TV Mode when the console is connected to a TV and Handheld Mode at other times. Check this and other miscellaneous options before starting a match, since they cannot be changed mid-battle. See the Ninjala System Settings manual.

How do I fix Switch motion controls that feel off?
If tilt input seems inaccurate, use Nintendo’s calibration prompts rather than compensating with an extreme in-game setting. Nintendo’s instructions cover Joy-Con and Pro Controller calibration, including motion-control calibration on a flat, stable surface: Calibrate the Control Sticks and Motion Controls.
- On the Switch, open System Settings → Controllers and Sensors.
- Select the relevant stick or motion-control calibration option and follow the on-screen prompts.
- For motion calibration, place the controller on a flat, stable surface when instructed.
- Return to Ninjala and check whether the input feels more accurate before making further in-game adjustments.
Joy-Con supports motion controls; a separate controller purchase is not required simply to change settings. The relevant requirement is a controller with a gyroscope sensor, as described in the Ninjala manual.
