The best Nintendo Switch 2 deal is currently the $499.99 Choose Your Game Bundle when available: it includes the console and a digital code for Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, or Pokémon Pokopia. The original $499.99 Mario Kart World Bundle is still worthwhile for Mario Kart fans, but new stock is becoming inconsistent.
There is a second reason not to delay a purchase you already planned. Nintendo says the U.S. standalone Switch 2 MSRP will rise from $449.99 to $499.99 on September 1, 2026. That confirmed increase applies to the system MSRP; it does not prove that every bundle will receive an identical increase.

The best Nintendo Switch 2 bundle right now
For most buyers, the best deal is the Nintendo Switch 2: Choose Your Game Bundle at $499.99 when it is available from an authorized retailer. It includes the console and a digital download code for one of three Switch 2 games: Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, or Pokémon Pokopia.
If you specifically want Mario Kart World, the original Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle is still a good buy at its $499.99 U.S. MSRP, but new inventory is becoming difficult to find. Do not assume that every listing described as a bundle is new, sold by the retailer itself, or supplied with the same type of digital entitlement.
The timing matters. Nintendo’s financial materials dated May 8, 2026 state that the U.S. MSRP for the Standalone Nintendo Switch 2 system will rise from $449.99 to $499.99 on September 1, 2026. That is a confirmed system-price change, not confirmation that every bundle will rise by the same amount. A $499.99 bundle at or near MSRP may therefore become more attractive before that date, but buyers should not treat the future price of either bundle as guaranteed.
| Option | Price reference | What it includes | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standalone Nintendo Switch 2 | $449.99 U.S. MSRP before September 1, 2026 | Console, Joy-Con 2 controllers, dock, grip, straps, and AC adapter | Buyers who already own the game or want to choose games separately |
| Choose Your Game Bundle | $499.99 suggested retail price | Console plus a download code for one of three games | Most buyers, especially those open to more than Mario Kart |
| Mario Kart World Bundle | $499.99 U.S. MSRP | Console plus a digital copy of Mario Kart World | Mario Kart fans and families who want the specific game |
| Grade A refurbished bundle | $419 in the Woot offer observed | Refurbished console bundle with OEM accessories and Mario Kart entitlement, subject to listing terms | Value-focused buyers comfortable with refurbished hardware |
How much do the bundles actually save?
Nintendo lists the standard Switch 2 system at $449.99 and the standalone suggested retail price of Mario Kart World at $79.99. Buying those separately totals $529.98, while the Mario Kart bundle is listed at $499.99. That is a maximum MSRP comparison of $29.99 in savings.

- Introducing Joy-Con, controllers that make new kinds of gaming possible, for use with Nintendo Switch.
- The versatile Joy-Con offer multiple surprising new ways for players to have fun.
- Two Joy-Con can be used independently in each hand, or together as one game controller when attached to the Joy-Con grip.
- They can also attach to the main console for use in handheld mode, or be shared with friends to enjoy two-player action in supported games.
- Each Joy-Con has a full set of buttons and can act as a standalone controller, and each includes an accelerometer and gyro-sensor, making independent left and right motion control possible.
Nintendo describes the Choose Your Game Bundle as offering savings of up to $29.99. The word up to matters: the comparison uses Nintendo’s suggested retail prices, not necessarily the lowest current game price at a particular retailer. A temporary discount on one of the included games can reduce the real-world advantage of the bundle.
At $499.99, the bundle is not a dramatic console discount. Its value comes from receiving a full game for roughly $50 above the current pre-increase system MSRP. That makes an ordinary $449.99 console a better choice only if you do not want any of the included games, already own one, or find the console at a meaningful discount.
Which Nintendo Switch 2 bundle should you buy?
Choose Your Game Bundle: best overall
Choose this bundle if you are buying your first Switch 2 and have not decided which game to get. The three-game choice is more flexible than the original Mario Kart package, and the $499.99 price matches the original bundle’s U.S. MSRP.
- Choose Mario Kart World for racing fans, families, and local multiplayer. Nintendo describes it as a large racing game with interconnected courses and races featuring up to 24 drivers.
- Choose Donkey Kong Bananza if the recipient prefers a Switch 2-exclusive adventure rather than a racing game.
- Choose Pokémon Pokopia if the buyer is specifically interested in the Pokémon title.
The offer is limited-time and available while supplies last. Before paying, confirm that the page still shows the bundle at $499.99 and explains how the selected game is redeemed.
Mario Kart World Bundle: best for Mario Kart fans
The original Mario Kart World Bundle remains the simplest recommendation when you find a new unit at $499.99 from a reputable seller. It includes the system and a digital version of Mario Kart World, rather than a physical game card according to Nintendo’s official bundle description.
Packaging and redemption details can vary among retailer listings. One listing may describe a download code or game-code card, while another may describe a digital entitlement associated with the console. Before ordering, check the product photos, package contents, region, seller, and return policy. A vague statement that Mario Kart is included is not enough for a scarce or expensive listing.
Standalone system: best if you do not need the game
The standalone console makes sense when you already own Mario Kart World, want a different game, or find the system below its $449.99 U.S. MSRP. It includes the hardware needed to play: Joy-Con 2 controllers, a Joy-Con 2 grip, straps, dock, and AC adapter. It does not include a carrying case, screen protector, extra controller, camera, or expandable storage card.
Refurbished bundle: best value, with conditions
Woot listed a Grade A refurbished Nintendo Switch 2 Console + Mario Kart World Bundle for $419, limited to one per customer and available only while supplies lasted. The listing described OEM accessories, the retail box, the game download or game-code card, and a 90-day Woot limited warranty. A separate deal report described the same offer as Prime-shipped.

That is $80 below the original $499.99 bundle MSRP, but a refurbished unit is not equivalent to a new retail console. Treat the offer as a snapshot rather than a promise of current stock. If the Grade A refurbished Switch 2 bundle reappears, compare the savings with the shorter warranty, inspect the return terms, and verify that the Mario Kart entitlement has not been omitted or previously redeemed.
Is the Mario Kart World Bundle sold out?
Not everywhere, and not in every condition. The accurate takeaway is that the original bundle is no longer uniformly easy to buy new.
| Retailer or listing type | Observed status | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Best Buy original bundle page | Current page states that the item is no longer available in new condition | A strong signal that a normal new-unit restock cannot be assumed |
| Target search results | Results showed a $499.99 new listing and a $479.99 factory-refurbished listing | Check whether the seller is Target or a marketplace seller, and verify fulfillment and warranty |
| Woot | A $419 Grade A refurbished offer was observed in limited quantities | Potentially excellent value, but condition, warranty, and inventory are materially different from new |
| Marketplace listings | Prices and conditions vary | Scarcity can produce inflated pricing; compare against the $499.99 MSRP reference |
Retail search pages can combine first-party inventory, marketplace offers, refurbished products, and stale results. Always confirm four details immediately before checkout: condition, seller, fulfillment, and warranty or return coverage.
Do not pay a large premium merely because a listing uses the words Mario Kart World Bundle. If the new version is unavailable, the Choose Your Game Bundle may be the cleaner alternative at the same $499.99 price. If that is also unavailable, a refurbished unit can make sense when its warranty and included digital game are clearly documented.

- You want Mario Kart specifically and find a new bundle at $499.99: Buy it if the seller is reputable and the digital entitlement is clearly described. This is the most straightforward purchase.
- You are happy with any of the three included games: Prefer the Choose Your Game Bundle at $499.99. It gives you more flexibility without paying more than the original Mario Kart package’s MSRP.
- You want the lowest legitimate price: Consider a refurbished listing around $419, but only after checking the warranty, return window, included accessories, and redemption status.
- You want only the hardware: Compare the standalone system against the bundle. At $449.99, the system is $50 below the bundle, so the bundle’s included game is usually worth the difference if you would buy that game anyway.
- You are shopping after September 1, 2026: Recheck the standalone system price. Nintendo has confirmed the U.S. system MSRP change, but do not assume that a specific bundle, retailer, or accessory changed by the same amount without verifying its current listing.
Best Nintendo Switch 2 accessories to buy with the bundle
The Switch 2 package already contains the basic controllers, dock, grip, straps, and power adapter. The accessories below solve specific problems; none is required on day one for the console to work.
1. microSD Express card for Nintendo Switch 2
Storage is the accessory most likely to become necessary for owners who buy downloadable games, updates, or DLC. Switch 2 supports microSD Express cards for downloadable software, updates, DLC, screenshots, and videos, with capacities up to 2TB. Nintendo says ordinary microSD, microSDHC, and microSDXC cards are not supported for those Switch 2 storage purposes.
That means an old card purchased for the original Nintendo Switch is not automatically suitable. Look specifically for a microSD Express card for Nintendo Switch 2, not a generic Nintendo Switch microSD card. Capacity is a trade-off: a smaller card costs less, while a larger card reduces the need to delete and redownload games.
Switch 2 has 256GB of internal storage, although some of that capacity is reserved for system use. Game-save data remains in system memory and cannot be copied to a microSD Express card, so the card expands game and media storage rather than serving as a general save-data backup.

- Handheld Nintendo Switch gaming at a great price

2. Joy-Con 2 Wheel set
The Joy-Con 2 Wheel set contains two wheel attachments. They hold Joy-Con 2 controllers magnetically and provide a more natural steering grip in racing games. For a household buying Mario Kart World for local multiplayer, this is the most directly relevant optional accessory.
The set contains wheel attachments, not additional controllers. You still need enough Joy-Con 2 controllers for the players who will use them, and the attachments work only with Joy-Con 2 and Switch 2. They are a comfort and control upgrade, not a requirement for playing the game.
3. Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller
The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller is the better choice for long sessions, traditional gamepad controls, and players who prefer a larger controller to Joy-Con 2. Nintendo lists an audio jack, HD Rumble 2, motion controls, amiibo functionality, a capture button, a GameChat C Button, and remappable GL and GR buttons among its features.
It is designed only for Nintendo Switch 2. Because the console includes Joy-Con 2 controllers and a Joy-Con 2 grip, the Pro Controller is an upgrade rather than an essential purchase. For a Mario Kart household, buy it after deciding whether the group needs another complete controller or simply wants more comfortable solo play.

4. Nintendo Switch 2 carrying case with screen protector
The Nintendo Switch 2 carrying case with screen protector is the sensible protection purchase for anyone who will use the console outside the home. Nintendo’s official set includes the protective case, screen protector, and cleaning cloth. It does not include the Switch 2 system, Joy-Con 2 controllers, or straps.
For players who travel with the complete setup, consider Nintendo’s All-In-One Carrying Case instead. It can hold the console, dock, Joy-Con 2 controllers, cables, and up to six game cards. Neither case includes the hardware, so check the capacity you need rather than assuming a handheld case also carries the dock.
5. Switch 2 Camera
A Switch 2 Camera is worthwhile only if you plan to use video chat or camera-enabled features. Nintendo describes it as a dedicated USB-C camera with a wide-angle lens, adjustable angle, automatic brightness adjustment, and a privacy shutter. It is not necessary for ordinary handheld or docked play.
6. Extra AC adapter
The console includes an AC adapter. An additional official Switch 2 AC Adapter is therefore mainly a replacement or second-room purchase—for example, if you want one adapter permanently near the TV and another in a travel bag. It is not a required upgrade when buying the bundle.

What to avoid when shopping
- Do not buy a regular microSD card for Switch 2 game storage. The required standard is microSD Express. The older card may be useful with an original Switch, but it is not the correct expansion-storage purchase for Switch 2.
- Do not treat refurbished and new as interchangeable. Ask whether the unit is new, factory refurbished, Grade A refurbished, used, or marketplace-sold. Check warranty length and returns before comparing prices.
- Do not trust an unclear Mario Kart inclusion. Nintendo’s official bundle description specifies a digital game. Confirm whether the listing provides a code, a game-code card, or a console-linked entitlement, and check that it is intended for your region.
- Do not assume a search-result price means reliable stock. Retail pages can show marketplace sellers or inventory that disappears at checkout. Verify seller, fulfillment, condition, and delivery date.
- Do not overpay because the original bundle is scarce. Use $499.99 as the original bundle’s U.S. MSRP reference. A higher price may be justified only if you have independently compared the seller, warranty, and actual package contents.
- Do not assume the September 1 increase applies identically to bundles. Nintendo has confirmed the U.S. standalone system MSRP change. It has not established in the supplied materials that every bundle and accessory will rise by the same amount.
Checkout checklist
- Is the product a Nintendo Switch 2 bundle rather than an original Nintendo Switch bundle?
- Does the page identify the condition as new, factory refurbished, Grade A refurbished, used, or marketplace?
- Who is the seller, and who handles shipping and customer service?
- Is the price close to the relevant MSRP, or does scarcity appear to be inflating it?
- Does the box include Mario Kart World as a digital code, game-code card, or digital entitlement?
- Are the console, Joy-Con 2 controllers, dock, grip, straps, and AC adapter all listed?
- For refurbished stock, is the warranty at least clear enough to compare with a new unit?
- For storage, does the product explicitly say microSD Express?
- For accessories, is the item compatible with Switch 2 and Joy-Con 2 rather than only the original Switch?
Our verdict
Buy the $499.99 Choose Your Game Bundle if it is available and you are flexible about which game to select. Choose the original Mario Kart World Bundle at $499.99 if Mario Kart is the reason you are buying the console and you can find a clearly documented new unit. Consider the $419 refurbished offer only when the savings outweigh the shorter warranty and the listing confirms the game entitlement and OEM accessories.
For add-ons, prioritize a microSD Express card if you plan to download games, a case and screen protector if the system will travel, and Joy-Con 2 Wheels for a Mario Kart-focused local multiplayer setup. The Pro Controller, camera, and second AC adapter are useful upgrades for particular players—not mandatory parts of the deal.

Best for Mario Kart fans: the original $499.99 Mario Kart World Bundle, but verify that the new listing includes a valid digital entitlement.
