There is no required order for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet’s Gyms, Titans, or Team Star bases. For a smoother first playthrough, follow a low-to-high challenge progression and mix the three story paths rather than finishing one path before starting another. That is a pacing recommendation—not a rule the games enforce.

Is there a correct order for the Gyms, Titans, and Team Star bases?

No. The Pokémon Company describes three open-world stories and says, “These three stories are set in an open world, so where you go is all up to you.” You can choose which objective to pursue and when.

The paths are Victory Road for Gym battles, Path of Legends for the search for rare ingredients with Arven, and Starfall Street for challenges against Team Star. They are separate strands of the adventure, not a single sequence you must complete in a prescribed order. The Pokémon Company’s official game page describes the paths and open-world structure.

What is the best order for a first playthrough?

Use a level-oriented route: choose challenges that suit your party’s current strength, then shift to another path when its next objective looks like a better fit. Secondary walkthroughs, including Plarium’s progression guide and PowerPyx’s walkthrough, recommend an order based on levels and difficulty. Treat that as guidance for pacing, not an official order.

Pokémon Scarlet - Nintendo Switch - Standard Edition
  • New Pokémon to Discover - Learn new details about Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly—the three Pokémon from which you’ll choose your first partner—along with other wonderful new Pokémon, including the Legendary Pokémon Koraidon and Miraidon!
  • The World of Pokémon Has Evolved - Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet offer an open-world experience that only the Pokémon series can deliver—one welcoming even to newcomers to the series.
  • You can experience a new style of adventure, with a world that you’re free to explore at your leisure and not in an order dictated by the story. You will, of course, journey to hone your skills as a Pokémon Trainer, but many more discoveries and stories await you. Meet a variety of people and Pokémon, and adventure in the world of Pokémon the way you want to.
  • A Deeper Experience with Multiplayer* Gameplay - Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet allow multiplayer gameplay with up to four players. Along with series staples, such as trading and battling Pokémon, you will be able to explore the various locations of the region in these games with other players. You can discover new Pokémon and explore unfamiliar areas with your friends and family, opening the door to an adventure more precious and fun than ever!
  • Meet the characters - As one of the main characters, you’ll set off on your adventure. Your outfit will vary depending on whether you play Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet. Who knows what kind of story awaits you? For the first time in the series, one of two different professors will appear in your game depending on the version you choose to play.

In practice, alternating among the paths lets you use that progression approach without committing to one complete storyline first. The game leaves the choice to you, so take a suitably paced objective that also fits where you want to explore or which story you want to follow.

How should you choose your next objective?

  • Team readiness: Favor an encounter that seems appropriate for your party’s strength. The suggested route guides are level-oriented, but the evidence here does not establish a fully verified numeric sequence for every objective.
  • Type matchup: Consider whether your Pokémon and moves are suited to the opponent. Gym Leaders commonly specialize in a Pokémon type; the series’ official RPG guide recommends keeping a varied team. This is general Pokémon guidance, not a Scarlet and Violet route rule.
  • Travel convenience: If two choices seem similarly manageable, pick the one that fits the area you are exploring. The open-world design allows you to make that choice.
  • Story preference: You can pursue Victory Road, Path of Legends, or Starfall Street according to what you feel like doing next.

What to know about the two versions

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are Nintendo Switch role-playing games. Their version-associated Legendary Pokémon are Koraidon in Scarlet and Miraidon in Violet; each can change forms to help you traverse different terrain. These differences do not create a separate required order for the Gyms, Titans, or Team Star bases.
