There is also a significant update for fans of the original: Bandai Namco said ACE COMBAT ZERO would be included as a Steam version in ACE COMBAT 8’s digital pre-order offer, but the announced October 2, 2026 release date has passed, so check the live store for current availability and terms.
Which PC game is closest to Ace Combat Zero?
For a non-franchise game built around accessible combat-flight action, start with Project Wingman. Steam describes a single-player campaign, fast-paced missions and a separate Conquest mode, alongside more than 20 aircraft and more than 40 weapons. Its alternate-history setting is separate from Ace Combat continuity, so expect a different world rather than a direct continuation of Zero.
For another game in the series, choose ACE COMBAT 7: SKIES UNKNOWN. It has a Steam PC listing and is the most straightforward option here if what you want is another mainline Ace Combat game rather than a substitute.
ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE is the newer mainline PC entry. Bandai Namco describes it as arcade-inspired aerial action and announced a worldwide release date of October 2, 2026. ACE COMBAT 7: a same-series PC alternative
ACE COMBAT 7: SKIES UNKNOWN is the straightforward choice if your priority is another game in the franchise. Steam Support lists its release date as January 31, 2019, and minimum PC specifications of an Intel Core i3-7100, 4 GB RAM, GTX 750 Ti, DirectX 11 and 50 GB of storage.
The support listing also includes older Windows versions, but it warns that the Steam Client has supported Windows 10 and later since January 1, 2024. Treat that client notice as relevant when checking whether an older PC setup is suitable, and consult the current Steam listing before buying.

ACE COMBAT 8 and the ACE COMBAT ZERO Steam offer
Bandai Namco’s US launch announcement says ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE is available on PC via Steam and gives October 2, 2026 as its worldwide release date. The publisher’s PC store lists Windows 11, an Intel Core i7-10700K or Ryzen 5 3600X, 16 GB RAM, an RTX 2060 6 GB, DirectX 12 and 125 GB storage as minimum requirements. It also lists an SSD, hardware ray tracing and Shader Model 6.6 requirements.
The announced digital pre-order offer connected ACE COMBAT ZERO to ACE COMBAT 8 by including a PC Steam version of Zero. Since the announced launch date has passed, the announcement alone does not establish whether that offer remains purchasable, which editions qualify now, or whether the terms have changed. Check the current edition details on the publisher’s store or Steam rather than relying on the old pre-order terms.
