There is no single best preset for every PC in Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed. The reliable approach is to start with a built-in preset that matches your hardware and monitor resolution, then change one option at a time while checking image quality and frame pacing. The game exposes TAA quality levels, XeSS 1.3 upscaling, V-sync, a 15–120 FPS cap (or an unlocked rate), and a View Distance setting that also determines anisotropic filtering. Those controls let you balance clarity, detail, latency and smoothness without pretending that an untested preset guarantees a particular frame rate.
What the best settings can—and cannot—promise
Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is a single-player 3D platformer developed by Purple Lamp and published by THQ Nordic. It released on September 24, 2024. The official Steam description says you can “Shape your adventure with the stroke of a brush and transform Wasteland as Mickey Mouse in this beautifully recreated 3D platformer.” The official Steam listing identifies the game and its requirements, but neither that listing nor the available technical references provides controlled FPS results for particular GPUs, resolutions or presets.

That matters when choosing settings. The Steam “recommended” specification is a compatibility target, not a guarantee of Ultra quality or a specific refresh rate. Likewise, PCGamingWiki documents which graphics controls exist, but does not publish comparative tests showing how many frames each option adds or costs. Use the procedure below to find a stable result on your own display rather than relying on a universal High or Ultra claim.

The following figures come from the Steam/THQ Nordic Windows listing accessed in 2026. They describe the listed minimum and recommended configurations; they are not measured performance guarantees.

| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10, 64-bit | Windows 10, 64-bit |
| Processor | AMD FX-4300 or Intel Core i3-4130 | AMD FX-8300 or Intel Core i5-3570K |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM | 8 GB RAM |
| Graphics | GeForce GTX 960 or Radeon R9 380 | Radeon RX 570 or GeForce GTX 1050 Ti |
| Graphics API | DirectX 11 | DirectX 11 |
| Storage | 28 GB available | 28 GB available |
The same 8 GB memory requirement appears in both tiers, as does the 28 GB available-storage requirement. Leave additional free space for Windows updates, shader caches and normal game maintenance rather than filling the drive to its limit. The listing does not state whether its storage figure includes later patches, so treat 28 GB as the published requirement, not a promise that no extra space will ever be useful.
If your computer is close to the minimum, begin conservatively: use a lower built-in preset at your monitor’s native resolution, then test XeSS or reduce image-quality controls. A system around the recommended tier can begin at a medium or high preset, but still evaluate frame pacing before increasing detail. The listing does not state which preset or FPS target its recommended hardware is intended to deliver.
Understand the controls before changing them
TAA quality
PCGamingWiki records temporal anti-aliasing (TAA) levels from Low through Ultra. TAA smooths jagged edges and shimmering; higher levels generally prioritize cleaner edges at a potential performance cost, but no controlled test establishes the size of that cost in this game. If distant geometry or fine outlines look noisy, raise TAA one step. If you need headroom and can accept more crawling or shimmer, lower it one step.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Judge TAA while moving the camera, not only from a still screenshot. Temporal techniques can look clean when paused but reveal shimmer during traversal. Make the comparison in the same scene and at the same output resolution so that a resolution change is not mistaken for a TAA improvement.
XeSS 1.3 upscaling
The PC version includes XeSS 1.3. An upscaler renders internally below the output resolution and reconstructs the image for the display. It can provide additional GPU headroom, but the available technical references contain no game-specific comparison of XeSS modes, image artifacts or performance gains. Treat it as a testable option: enable it when native rendering is too demanding, inspect edges and moving details, and return to native resolution if reconstruction artifacts are more distracting than the extra smoothness is useful.
Compare XeSS at the resolution you actually intend to use. A mode that looks acceptable on a 1080p monitor may expose different artifacts on a larger or higher-resolution display. Check character outlines, brush effects, distant geometry and small text while panning the camera. Do not assume that an upscaler is required simply because it is available, and do not describe it as a guaranteed FPS multiplier.

View Distance and anisotropic filtering
View Distance is linked to anisotropic filtering in the documented settings relationship:
| View Distance quality | Documented anisotropic filtering |
|---|---|
| Low | None |
| Medium | 4× |
| High | 8× |
| Epic/Ultra | 16× |
This is a description of how the options are paired, not a recommendation that everyone use Epic/Ultra. Higher filtering keeps textures on floors, paths and other surfaces clearer when viewed at an angle. If you lower View Distance to gain performance, expect the associated filtering level to fall with it.
Because these two effects are tied together, View Distance is not only a draw-distance decision. After lowering it, look at angled ground, walls and other long surfaces for texture blur. If distant objects are acceptable but surfaces now look soft, restore the previous level and seek headroom with TAA or XeSS instead.
V-sync
V-sync synchronizes completed frames with the display’s refresh cycle. It can remove visible tearing, while its interaction with latency and frame delivery depends on the display and the rest of the system. Turn it on when tearing is your main problem. Turn it off for a latency-focused test, then compare camera movement and input response on your own monitor.
V-sync is not a substitute for a stable frame rate. If the system cannot deliver frames consistently, changing synchronization alone may not remove hitching. Compare the same route with V-sync on and off, and keep the choice that gives the better combination of clean motion and responsive controls.
Frame-rate cap
The game documents an optional cap from 15 to 120 FPS, plus an unlocked option. A cap can keep the GPU from rendering frames your display cannot show and can make frame pacing more consistent. Choose a cap that fits the display you actually use; do not treat 120 as a required target. If you are diagnosing uneven delivery, compare a sensible cap with an unlocked run and judge consistency rather than a peak counter value.

- Multi-Platform PC Gaming Controller: Working with Switch, PC, Android, and iOS devices via Bluetooth, wired, and wireless dongle connections.
- Hall Effect Joysticks: Delivering enhanced recentering performance for smoother control and superior anti-drift capability. Plus, with anti-friction rings.
- 2-Way Trigger Lock: With trigger stops, gamers can toggle between short and long pull positions. Additionally, gamers can activate hair trigger mode by pressing M+LT/RT (triggers must be in the long pull position).
- 1000Hz Polling Rate: This ensures that your inputs are registered almost instantaneously, minimizing lag and maximizing your performance during competitive play.
- Mechanical Circular D-pad: Designed for quick reactions and accuracy in every direction, this D-pad elevates your gaming experience with superior responsiveness.
The correct cap is the one your system can sustain in the areas that are hardest to render, not the highest number reached in an empty scene. Test traversal, camera turns and effects-heavy moments. Since no source supplies a game-specific target, record your own observations instead of presenting a cap as universally optimal.
A practical setup procedure
Use this sequence after installing the game and selecting the display resolution you intend to play at. It avoids changing several variables at once, which makes it easier to identify the setting responsible for a visual or performance change.
- Confirm the baseline. Start the game with the built-in preset appropriate to your hardware: lower for a PC near minimum, medium/high for a PC near recommended. Keep the monitor at its native resolution unless you have a specific reason to test another output.
- Check the display path. Confirm that the game is using the intended monitor and resolution before judging sharpness. A scaling change outside the game can make TAA or XeSS appear better or worse than it really is.
- Play a repeatable scene. Move through the same type of area for a few minutes, including camera pans and traversal. Observe hitching, input response, edge shimmer and texture clarity. The available sources do not provide a benchmark route or an official FPS target, so your own repeatable scene is the useful reference.
- Set the frame-delivery preference. If tearing is visible, enable V-sync and retest. If you prefer the lowest possible latency, test V-sync off. Select a frame cap between 15 and 120 that your system can sustain more consistently than an unlocked run; compare motion and pacing rather than chasing a number.
- Adjust TAA. Raise TAA from Low toward Medium, High or Ultra if edges shimmer or crawl. Lower it one level if you need GPU headroom and the softer or noisier edges are acceptable.
- Test XeSS 1.3 only when needed. When native resolution produces uneven delivery, enable XeSS and inspect moving geometry, character outlines and text. Keep it if the reconstructed image is clean enough; disable it if artifacts outweigh the performance benefit.
- Balance detail with View Distance. Keep View Distance high when distant scenery and angled surfaces are important to you. Lower it incrementally when the system remains GPU-bound, remembering that the linked anisotropic filtering changes at the same time.
- Recheck the scene. After every single change, replay the same movement and camera path. Record the setting and your observation so you do not mistake a change in scene complexity for an improvement.
Starting points by hardware position
PC close to the minimum specification
Use a lower preset first, with the monitor’s native output resolution. The official minimum lists an FX-4300 or Core i3-4130, 8 GB of RAM, and a GTX 960 or R9 380, but it does not state an expected FPS. If motion is not consistent, test XeSS 1.3 before making broad quality cuts. If the image remains too demanding, lower TAA and View Distance one step at a time. Because View Distance also controls filtering, inspect ground and wall textures after each reduction.
A minimum-tier PC may benefit from a frame cap that it can hold steadily rather than an unlocked rate with large swings. Use V-sync if tearing is obvious; otherwise compare it off for responsiveness. These are procedural starting points, not tested GPU-specific prescriptions.
PC around the recommended specification
Begin at medium or high quality and check your target resolution, frame pacing and camera movement before raising anything. The recommended listing—FX-8300 or Core i5-3570K, 8 GB RAM, and RX 570 or GTX 1050 Ti—does not promise Ultra settings or a particular refresh rate. Raise TAA or View Distance only after the baseline is stable. Keep XeSS available as an alternative if native rendering at your chosen resolution is inconsistent.
Hardware above the listed recommendation
A faster GPU or CPU gives you more room to try higher TAA and View Distance, but it still does not create a universal “best” preset. Start with the highest built-in preset your display and system can sustain, then test whether native resolution looks preferable to XeSS. Set a cap matched to your display and compare V-sync on and off for the latency/tearing balance you want.

Choosing settings by the problem you see
| Symptom | First test | What to watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Jagged or shimmering edges | Raise TAA one level | Cleaner edges versus any loss of smoothness |
| Native resolution feels inconsistent | Enable XeSS 1.3 | Reconstruction artifacts on moving detail and outlines |
| Distant scenery or angled textures look soft | Raise View Distance | Higher detail also selects stronger linked filtering |
| Visible horizontal tearing | Enable V-sync | Whether motion looks cleaner and input still feels responsive |
| Uneven delivery despite adequate average speed | Try a sustainable frame cap | Consistency compared with an unlocked run |
| Performance remains poor on a low-end system | Lower View Distance or TAA, then test XeSS | Which single change improves pacing without unacceptable image loss |
How to troubleshoot intermittent stutter
PCGamingWiki reports intermittent stuttering associated with shader caching and lists the Steam launch option -d3d11 as a possible workaround. This is a community-reported suggestion, not an official fix, and its usefulness can vary by system.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Close the game and open its Steam properties.
- Find the launch-options field and enter
-d3d11exactly. - Start the game and replay the scene in which you noticed the hitching.
- Compare the result with the launch option removed. Keep it only if it improves your system without introducing another problem.
Do not assume that every hitch is caused by graphics quality. A shader-cache event can occur even when average rendering speed appears adequate. Change one setting at a time, and distinguish a repeatable traversal hitch from a one-off pause while assets are being prepared. If -d3d11 makes no difference, remove it and continue with the controlled settings process rather than treating it as a guaranteed cure.
Ultrawide and non-16:9 displays
PCGamingWiki reports Vert- behavior during gameplay on ultrawide displays. In that behavior, the game preserves the 16:9 horizontal framing and shows less vertical scene content than a native Hor+ presentation. Menus and cutscenes may be pillarboxed at 16:9.
The same reference describes an advanced Unreal Engine configuration route for Hor+ ultrawide output. It is a manual community workaround, not a standard in-game toggle. Before editing configuration files, back up the original files, change only the documented value, and verify menus, cutscenes and gameplay separately. An adjustment that improves the gameplay field of view can still produce incorrect interface placement or cinematics.
Controller and comfort considerations
PCGamingWiki lists controller support, and the Steam listing identifies the game as a single-player 3D platformer. A controller can therefore be a comfort choice for movement and camera control, but it is not a graphics optimization and should not be purchased as a fix for stutter or low performance. Test the input method you already own before changing graphics settings around it.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming “recommended” means Ultra. The store specification does not name a preset or FPS target.
- Chasing an unlocked frame rate. Unlocked output can look less consistent than a cap your PC sustains.
- Changing several options together. You lose the ability to identify whether TAA, XeSS or View Distance caused the improvement or problem.
- Treating XeSS as automatically better. It may add headroom, but inspect reconstructed detail at your chosen resolution.
- Lowering View Distance without checking textures. Its documented relationship with filtering means angled surfaces can lose clarity at the same time.
- Presenting the
-d3d11launch option as an official patch. It is a community-reported shader-stutter workaround with uncertain applicability. - Applying ultrawide edits without a backup. Manual configuration can affect menus and cutscenes as well as gameplay.
- Buying hardware based only on the store table. The listed specifications do not establish expected FPS, so they are not enough to justify a particular GPU purchase.
A repeatable decision framework
For a quick first pass, decide which problem matters most:

- What You Get: VOYEE wired 360/PC Controller, 45 Days Money Back, 365 Days Guarantee Against quality defect and 24 Hours Friendly Customer Support
- Image clarity: use native resolution when it is sustainable, then tune TAA and View Distance.
- GPU headroom: test XeSS 1.3, then reduce TAA or View Distance in small steps.
- Tearing: enable V-sync and evaluate input response.
- Uneven pacing: test a frame cap your system can hold, then compare with unlocked output.
- Intermittent hitches: investigate shader-cache behavior and, if appropriate, test the community-reported
-d3d11option. - Ultrawide framing: expect Vert- gameplay and 16:9 pillarboxing in some screens; treat Hor+ configuration changes as advanced and reversible.
After the first pass, keep the settings that solve your actual problem and stop changing options that do not affect it. Without controlled benchmarks, the most defensible “best” configuration is the one that delivers the clearest image and steadiest response on your hardware and display, verified through repeatable play rather than an assumed preset.

PCGamingWiki reports shader-cache-related intermittent stutter and suggests testing the Steam launch option -d3d11. It is a community workaround, not an official fix. Compare runs with and without it in the same scene.
Does the game support ultrawide monitors?
PCGamingWiki reports Vert- gameplay and 16:9 pillarboxing in some menus and cutscenes. It also documents an advanced Unreal Engine configuration route for Hor+ output; back up files and verify all screens after any manual change.
Is a controller required, or does buying one improve performance?
The game supports controllers, so one can be a comfort choice for platforming and camera control. It is optional and does not improve graphics performance or cure stutter.
Should I buy a new GPU for this game?
No purchase follows automatically from the requirements table. The published specifications do not include controlled FPS data, so choose hardware only after considering your broader game library, resolution and refresh-rate goals.
The Bottom Line
Start with the preset that matches your PC, keep your display resolution fixed, and change one control at a time. Use TAA for edge quality, XeSS 1.3 for a testable headroom option, View Distance for detail and linked filtering, V-sync for tearing, and a sustainable 15–120 FPS cap for consistency. Treat -d3d11 and ultrawide edits as reversible community workarounds, not guarantees.
