Logitech G Cloud: the most direct multi-platform streaming alternative
The G Cloud is the closest match if your main goal is a handheld dedicated to streaming rather than running demanding games locally. Logitech lists Remote Play on PC, Xbox, and PS5, alongside cloud gaming platforms and Android games. See Logitech G Cloud for the manufacturer’s current product details.
That platform list is useful if your play is split between a PlayStation at home, an Xbox console, and a PC. It does not show that streams will look or feel the same across services, networks, or devices; the sources available do not provide controlled latency, image-quality, or reliability comparisons against Portal.

ASUS ROG Xbox Ally: Xbox streaming with native Windows gaming
The 2025 ROG Xbox Ally is a broader gaming handheld rather than a streaming-only device. ASUS and Xbox describe native Windows gaming, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and Remote Play from an Xbox console. That makes it a fit for someone who wants to install and run PC games as well as stream from an Xbox.

Its documented console Remote Play support is Xbox-focused. The cited ASUS and Xbox material does not establish official PlayStation Remote Play support on the Ally, so it should not be treated as a Portal substitute for PS5 streaming.

Steam Deck: a third-party PlayStation streaming route
Steam Deck can run a wide PC handheld library, and Tom’s Hardware has reported on an Asobi Remote Play app for streaming from PS4 and PS5. The PlayStation route here depends on a third-party app, not an official Sony Remote Play feature or endorsement. The report does not establish that setup, compatibility, or reliability matches Portal. [c005]
Choose Steam Deck primarily for its PC handheld capabilities if those are what you want; treat PlayStation streaming as a workaround whose suitability depends on the app and your own setup. The available reporting does not provide a measured head-to-head comparison with Portal.

What PlayStation Portal now offers
Portal remains the most integrated option for Sony’s own handheld Remote Play experience: Sony says it connects to PS5 consoles for Remote Play. It is no longer limited to streaming from a console at home, however. In November 2025, Sony announced cloud streaming for eligible PlayStation Plus Premium members. Availability and eligibility can depend on region and current software details, so check Sony’s cloud-streaming announcement for the applicable conditions. [c006]
Sony’s March 17, 2026 PlayStation Blog post said a software update began global rollout on March 18, adding a 1080p High Quality mode. In that post, Sony also reported that Portal cloud-streaming monthly users grew 162% year over year in January and that more than 50% of Portal users were PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers. - Choose G Cloud if multi-platform Remote Play across PS5, Xbox, and PC on a streaming-focused handheld is the main requirement.
- Choose ROG Xbox Ally if you want Xbox console streaming and cloud play alongside native Windows gaming, and do not require documented PlayStation Remote Play support.
- Consider Steam Deck if its PC handheld library is the priority and you are comfortable relying on a third-party PlayStation streaming app.
- Keep Portal in consideration if Sony’s integrated PS5 experience is your priority, especially if its cloud-streaming eligibility and newer display mode suit your use.
