There is no single best Pokémon with no evolutions: the right pick depends on the game, ruleset, and job you need it to do. Here, “no evolutions” means a Pokémon species with neither a standard pre-evolution nor a further standard evolution. The examples below focus on competitive singles in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, not a universal ranking or a story-mode recommendation.
Best depends on the format and role
A Pokémon that excels as an offensive sweeper is not interchangeable with one chosen to absorb attacks or stop an opposing strategy. Competitive rankings also depend on the specific ruleset, and a strategy page can become stale as formats change. The two examples below illustrate different roles; they are not a complete or ranked list.

Hawlucha: a fast offensive sweeper
For a fast attacker, Hawlucha is a competitive example. Smogon’s Scarlet and Violet analysis describes its Speed, offensive typing, and Unburden ability as strengths that can support a sweep. The same analysis notes that opportunities to sweep can be limited and that opponents have ways to counter it, so Hawlucha is not a dependable answer to every matchup. Check the page’s current format and language before relying on detailed moveset advice.
Dondozo: a defensive option
Dondozo fills a different role. Smogon’s Scarlet and Violet strategy page identifies Unaware as a relevant ability in its defensive context. The page warns that some of its content may be outdated, so treat its advice as format-specific guidance rather than a guarantee of current viability.

Choosing one for a story playthrough
Competitive examples do not automatically make good recommendations for a particular campaign. First confirm that the species is obtainable in your game, then consider when it becomes available and whether its role fits the rest of your team. Pokémon’s Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Trainers Guide provides Pokédex and progression context for those editions only; it does not establish availability across the series. Check the Pokédex or other game-specific sources for the title you are playing.

How to make a useful shortlist
- Name the game and ruleset. Availability, legal team options, and competitive value vary by edition and format.
- Choose the job first. Decide whether you need a fast attacker, a defensive answer, or another specific team role.
- Check current counterplay. A role description is not a guarantee that a Pokémon will perform well against every opposing team.
- Separate playthrough advice from competitive advice. A competitive analysis may not account for story progression or when a species can be caught.
