The right PS5 accessory depends on what your setup is missing: a second controller for local multiplayer, a dock to keep controllers charged, a headset for gaming audio, or storage for a growing library. PlayStation’s catalog covers all four categories, but it does not establish a universal winner for comfort, sound, durability, or value. Choose by need, then verify compatibility with your exact console and the accessory’s current specifications.

Controllers: choose between another standard pad and a specialty model
DualSense for a second player or backup
A second DualSense is the straightforward choice if you want local multiplayer or a spare controller. Before buying, decide whether another standard controller suits your games and household, or whether you have a specific reason to consider a different controller category.
DualSense Edge for a different controller feature set
PlayStation also lists the DualSense Edge as a distinct controller option. Choose it based on the features you want, your customization or replacement needs, and current price—not on an assumption that a higher-end category automatically improves competitive results. Headsets: check the connection, fit, and platform needs
PULSE Elite
PULSE Elite is PlayStation’s first-party wireless headset option. Its PS5 connection uses the included PlayStation Link USB adapter; PlayStation says the adapter is paired with the headset out of the box. The headset can charge from a compatible USB-A port or from the charging hanger. Confirm the included items and charging method in the current product details before purchase. Licensed third-party headsets
PlayStation’s accessory catalog lists licensed headset options from brands including Razer, Turtle Beach, PDP, Nacon, and Trust. A licensed listing does not show that one headset sounds better or feels more comfortable than another. Compare the connection method, fit, microphone requirements, other platforms you use, and price; consult suitable independent evaluations for comfort or sound comparisons.

The official DualSense Charging Station, model CFI-ZDS1, charges up to two DualSense or DualSense Edge controllers at the same time without connecting them to the console. The controllers are sold separately, so the station does not include the controllers you may need. Internal M.2 SSD expansion
PlayStation presents the WD_BLACK SN850P as an internal M.2 SSD expansion option for PS5, with capacity to expand internal storage by up to 8 TB. That is a stated product capability, not a guarantee that every SSD or console revision supports the same installation. Check current requirements for your exact PS5 model and the specific drive before buying, including any installation details PlayStation provides in its accessory catalog.

External SSD or HDD
External storage serves a different purpose from internal M.2 expansion. PlayStation says the external SSD/HDD products listed in its catalog can store PS5 and PS4 games and play PS4 games directly. Check the current product and console compatibility information before choosing a drive, and decide whether your priority is adding internal expansion or keeping games on external storage.
